  • I thought its from melbourne,

    • Check out the front page, 11x weekly to/from Perth. Can't see any mention of Melb flights

    where's the bargain though?

  • Has anyone flown with Malindo before? Any good? Safety record (lol) etc I seen some cheap flgihts during christmas, but personally I've never heard of them before.

Flew Malindo from KUL to SIN in September in business class. They have a fleet of brand-new (average age of about one year) Boeing 737-800s & 737-900ERs (that I assume will be flying to Perth). Good service, they have a lounge in KLIA2. The seats were leather, good recline and had entertainment, bit of a limited western selection but they are an Asian carrier. Highly recommended.

BTW Malindo Air is a joint venture between a Malaysian defence company and Lion air of Indonesia - ie Mal (Malaysia) Indo (Indonesia) - Malindo.

    • first step is this. then the 2 countries will become one, plus brunei.

  • Just flew Ipoh-SIN return a few weeks back. and yes brand new fleet.
it's actually quite nice for a budget carrier price.
    the entertainment is quite acceptable.

only issue I had was when we were on our way back SIN-Ipoh, gosh the landing nearly gave us all a heart attack!
if it wasn't a brand new 737, I think I won't be typing this here now… No joking.
the pilot landed the plane so hard we thought front of the plane was gonna break off!..

    so..
    Planes - 10/10..
Pilots - Depends on your luck I suppose…

I would definitely fly Malindo again - Heaps better experience than Air Asia (Syd-KUL).. minus the landing of course…
Definitely exceed a Budget airline's expectations for me..

  • I flew KL to Kuching on Malindo Air and recommend it over AirAsia anyday.

The plane was newer, there was snacks & entertainment (screen on back of each headrest) too whereas AirAsia offered none of this and the fares were also cheaper than Malindo. Would recommend them definitely on short haul flights but not entirely sure about long haul flights.
