  • I am new to buying coffee beans. Is it considered a good deal?

    • Look through the comments on the previous deals. They tend to have one every second week

      I've been a happy and loyal customer for some time now.

      The unopened bags can be sealed and then thawed 24 hours before opening it. I picked up this tip from someone else on here and have not noticed any deterioration in the beans.

      • You mean I should freeze the bags before opening them? You mentioned them being thawed, but not freezed!?

        How many coffees each bag produces?

        • +1

          Oops…meant to say "unopened bags can be frozen", thanks for pointing that out.

          How many coffees depends on your definition of a 'coffee' :)

          If you mostly make 7g single shots than 480 / 7 = 68.5 coffes. If you use 14g at a time than you'll get 34 beverages. I use up to 28g at a time, so I'd only get 17.

          @elektron:

          Thank you for the reply.

          This is the first time I am buying actual coffee beans. Missus and I always drink cappuccino. Would you be able to let me know what the best deal for us?

          @Meteorite:

          Not sure if I'm the best person to answer as I haven't tried each an every one of these beans, not to mention I'm mostly an espresso drinker myself. Perhaps ask the OP (may be even PM him) which of these two deals has more varieties that would work well with milk-based drinks.

          However, to be honest, I think most of Manna's varieties would work work well as a cappuccino, as many OzBargainers who buy these are cappuccino or latte drinkers like yourself.

        • @elektron:

          that's an epic shot elektron - Are you talking 28g in 60ml shot on a machine?

        • +1

          @JohnKG: Yep, that's my morning shot :)
          I don't have time to use my Rancilio Silvia & Rocky set up in the morning, so I use the automatic Delonghi I got a couple of weeks ago (combined two deals posted here to get an absolute bargain). Its strongest shot is 14g so I take two of those to go in the car.

          Since I got the Delonghi automatic it's so quick easy to use and makes a decent shot with the right settings that I haven't actually used the Rancilio set up since I got it, as it takes ages to make a shot. I manually weigh my beans with the Rancilio, use the Weiss Distribution Technique, then temperature surf.

          Because it now literally takes me seconds between turning on the machine and getting a shot, I'm now drinking a lot more coffee as the result :)

        • @Meteorite: Either one Meteorite. The Colombian is a great coffee and perhaps ask Simon for a fortitude in the lucky dip. They'll make a fine cappuccino.

  • What are the odds I'll receive this by the weekend in Brisbane if I order today?

    • +1

      Almost definitely subject to no major mistakes being made by the transport company :-)

      • +1

        Awesomesauce. Ordered.
        Also, now that brewover's are in the country. Any chance I can organise pick-up over a weekend or anything?
        I ordered the full bottling kit, so am thinking I probably won't be one of the first shipped out…

        • +1

          No worries Jono, they are currently being screened by customs so once released and available for you to pick up I'll let you know :-)

      • Expected delivery Tuesday apparently :-(
        Stupid AusPost… lol

      I usually receive them in Melbourne within a couple of days of placing an order.

    I just can't go past aldi beans at $11 for 1kg: even comes with a roasting date that can be 2-4 weeks old. Buying $30 for 1 kg of beans is crazy in comparison when aldi beans are quite good. I suppose the best alternative is to roast your own and get them cheaper.

    • Are these single origin?

      • Doubt it. I'm a coffee bogan.

      • Yes, all specialty grade singles :-)

        • No Grand Cru - no deal :)

  • Are these all fine to be ground for espresso?

    • Yes they are :-)

    After spending so much money in search for that Oomph beans around Melb, I just can't help going back to the Manna beans.

    Currently hooked on Guatemala Minas beans, super delicious as Ice Coffee. Double shot + 1 TBS Condense Milk + Low Fat Milk + Ice.. Beats any coffee snobbish café within 100km radius from my home!

    .. just about to open the next 1kg batch of Colombia Cedro. Haven't had it before… pretty excited.

    • After having a bit of issue with consistency, having to keep on adjusting grind… Colombia Cedro beans… not that exciting even a little bit. Seems like it doesn't have that coffee flavor kick. Its very subtle.

      Perhaps coz its taken almost 3 weeks till I could open it?

      Still…. it just leaves you…saying….

      NEXT..!!

  • Do MannaBeans ship to PO Box addresses? :)
