Yes they do, they are now a wholly owned subsidiary of Acer, as are e-Machines.
They have some nice notebooks out there. The only resemblance to Gateway Inc in the 90s and early 00s is the name. There is no other relation. Still, some good quality notebooks with their name on them are arriving in the market.

This is not a bargain. The LCD is worth $200 and the other bits maybe $100, so that's $1500 for the laptop. Is the laptop worth $1500? No. You can get a much better and nicer laptop for that price.
For $1400 you can get the Dell Studio 15 with a new Core i5 processor, 4GB DDR3, 500GB, HD 4570, 15.6 " 720p WLED… the monitor is worth maybe $180, the rest maybe $100 combined.
A better laptop, and that's with no discounts or deals, for around $200 less.
