Free $20 eGift Card with Activation of $30 Woolworths Mobile Starter Pack (No Recharge Required)

70

This was previously mentioned in this week's Woolworths Catalog specials, but looks like no recharge is required, as per following description on the Woolworths Mobile website:

*If you buy and activate a $30 Starter Pack between 14th October and 11th 17th November 2015, you will qualify for a $20 Woolworths eGift Card to spend on whatever you wish in store.

The $20 eGift Card will be emailed directly to the same email address provided at activation and will be sent within 72 hours of activating the SIM card*

CONFIRMED hopefulness: A good deal if you had previously purchased (but not activated) the half price Starter Pack for $15 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/211667), or even better, the targeted EDR special Starter Pack for $1 :)

Here are the printed terms and conditions http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/27551/34060/image.jpeg

    It does require 1 recharge

Thks - however the 2nd paragraph on the Woolworths Mobile link above seems to imply otherwise: "The $20 eGift Card will be emailed directly to the same email address provided at activation and will be sent within 72 hours of activating the SIM card*"

OP just wondering if you have tried it? You sound quite sure that it doesnt require recharge.

      [Confirmed Hopefulness] x2 :-)
Can happily confirm that this works on activation (as expected), with no recharge required - have received my $20 egift card in my email Inbox, but a day late (~100 hours after activation).

      • A good deal OP :-)
It just sounded too good to be true ;-)
        Glad it worked out.
        Thanks.

may or may not work with previously purchased $30 packs as it states "buy and activate a $30 Starter Pack between 14th October and 11th November"

so if u got it for $1 n the recent deal it maaaaay work.
im guessing it wont as the purchase along with the edr card and activation will likely trigger the coupon to be added to the edr card account.

    • so if u got it for $1 n the recent deal it maaaaay work.

      it does :)

  • Someone please confirm that the already purchased starter packs will trigger this. Until then, description is marked as unconfirmed hopefulness.

[Unconfirmed Hopefulness] - I like that description - could be applied to quite a few deals that eventually were found to be purely speculation ;-)

    • +2

confirmed - when activating the starter pack, woolworths connect doesn't know when it was bought :)

      btw don't forget bonus 1gb data :)

      • Just to clarify…
Did you activate a $1 pack?

Is this 1GB bonus still available?

Confusingly, my $1 pack t&c stated You'll also enjoy 1.5GB data plus a bonus 1GB † data when you activate before 1 October 2015, plus $650 call value, unlimited standard national SMS and unlimited calls between Woolworths users.
†Bonus 1GB data available within 48 hours of activating your Starter Pack.
Assume that applied to activation of EDR offer (ending 1/10) not activating SIM by 1/10.

        Thanks again tonester :-)
I assume the answer to both is yes.

Set reminders me to activate by 11th November.

        • +1

I assume the answer to both is yes.

yes and i still have more $1 packs plus a raincheck :)

btw welcome back for last month :)

        • @tonester:
          Thanks ;-)
Definitely hadn't seen that nice compliment.

And I thought, why would I want more than 1 of these at $1 - I've got too many $1 SIMs :-(

Makes this an amazing deal, combined with $1 deal.

          $31 for $30 shop + $30 SIM + $20 Gift Card for more shopping :-)

        • @Infidel:

how many $1 SIMs do you have, dare I ask? :)

        • @tonester:
You dared! (Most would know better!)
It's not so much how many SIMs in the drawer, as how little I use them.

          My unused SIM Inventory:
(I have a spreadsheet to handle them.)
          14 Telstra Pack $1
          3 Optus $10 Pack $0
          2 Boost $20 pack $0
          1 Woolies $30 pack $1 :-(
3 Vodafone $50 packs with 3GB bought with $40 Huawei Y550 phones (2 free from friends)

Then there are the data only SIMs
          1 Telstra iPad 3GB Pack 50c
          10 Vodafone 3GB (with USB modem $9)

People give me SIMs & gift cards for help with deals, even though I have too many, sob.

Considering 2 $1 Telstra packs are all I use for calls in a year (I make few phone calls, mainly VOIP)…
Plus I have $100 Telstra credit that is barely being used, and far too much data almost free (63GB for $1) with those SIMs…

I left OzBargain to go into Data Detox program, changed my username & now try to maintain a low profile.

I still have too many SIMs:-(

    • nice, thanks - deal updated :)

      • I was checking expiry as I still haven't got around to activating. I'm going back into hibernation for another week.

        • same - my 30days ain't up yet :)

  • Pity I missed the $1 offer because I was away. But given how underwhelming their mobile product is, I'm sure there will be more later.

    • True. It was a great deal at $1 with $20 eGift Card (which we didn't know about at the time), mediocre deal currently at $30 with $20 eGift Card, and pretty useless deal otherwise, considering the latest offerings from other services.

Wish I'd bought more at $1, just for the $20 eGift Card. It's not as if I need the SIMs.

  • Thanks den_yong :-)

    Activated yesterday.
Ported number from Telstra in 30 minutes!
Just received my $20 eGift Card :-)
    Too easy for $1 ;-)
