    The rice isn't that great after you've tasted what's really out there. Try out a Basmati from an Indian/Asian store and you'll never want to go back to Sunrice or any other supermarket brand again.

      bear in mind, not everyone likes basmati! just like not everyone wants brown rice, short, medium, long rice or jasmine. also, bear in mind not everyone is indian.

      My style:

      Basmati for Indian food (i also prefer in my fried rice).
      Jasmine for Asian food.

          Basmati rice in its best variety is grown in the punjab region in India and Pakistan.

          After harvesting, it is "aged" in climate-controlled dry storage for 9-12 months before being sold. That gives it the distinct character of being fluffy, grains not sticking to each other. They're also much longer when cooked, because aged basmati grains are drier and absorb more water while cooking.

    The long grain rice from sunrice is rubbish. Made the mistake of buying the 10kg bag on special afew months ago. No where near the quality of rice served at Thai restaurants

    Their medium grain rice is awesome though. Really like it.

    Just bought their basmati rice on special at Coles yesterday. Hopefully they will not be as crap as their long grain rice
