Have been spying this very model, just what I needed for the new G4.
    Legend - thank you!

  • Great deal :)

Hi TA any chance of being able to get a good deal on full sized SD cards?
    Either Samsung or Sandisk.

    • +1

Why not just use an adapter? Unless you expect the full size cards to be cheaper.

      • If it was for me I would, but is for my parents new camera, their likely to pull the microSD from the adapter and lose it lol.
Would rather get full size one :)

        • +2

Nothing a drop of glue won't fix. :)

        • +1

Just explain it to your parents I'm sure they will understand. Even my grandma can use an ipad and smartphone nowadays.

        • +1

I finally got my dad using a smart phone although still limited what he does on it, my mum wants nothing to do with them, she still uses an old Nokia dumb phone lol.

        • @Blackrose: Until a couple of years ago my mom only had a corded phone, now at least she has cordless. Still a far way to go before she uses a mobile…

  • This will be great for my phone, when it gets back.

Will the adapter allow me to use it with the GoPro Silver 4?

    • +8

No. Just think about that for a sec.

  • Does anyone think the 128GB Ultra is good enough for a beginner mirrorless camera (Samsung NX3000)? Or should I go straight for the 64GB ExtremePro?

    • +7

Extreme Pro is overkill. I didn't notice any difference between the Samsung Evo 45MB/s vs Samsung Pro 90MB/s on my NX300M. The reason being that they can't produce 4K and 45MB/s is fine for 1080p, and if you're in burst mode then on those cameras you are limited by the small buffer of the camera and not the speed of the SD card. The camera will only give you about 6 RAW files before it is down to 1 per second and the SD card won't solve that.

Typing that I became curious and tested this out. NX500 at 28mp at 9fps:

Evo 45MB/s: JPEG (Normal) - 13, JPEG (Super Fine) - 23, RAW - 6 <- More shots than Pro at super fine =/
      Pro 90MB/s: JPEG (Normal) - 13, JPEG (Super Fine) - 20, RAW - 6

You can see the faster card really makes no difference for cheap cameras with small buffers. Save your money.

      • +3

It depends on the camera. The limitation you experienced might be caused by your camera's SD interface. Different cameras can have different results.

The main difference would be how long it takes to empty the camera's buffer onto the card, which determines how long you have to wait until you can burst-shoot again.

The Pro cards probably wouldn't be worth it at all for people who don't burst-shoot a lot, or are happy with jpeg.

        • Or even review the images on your camera..
I shoot JPEG + RAW on the A7II, combined file size is 30MB per shot (20-24MB for RAW,8MB for JPEG)
Even if I shot only in RAW with the old Samsung Pro Microsd (20MB/s) its frustrating to wait for the card to be written before it can be shown on the camera

        • Mistake - deleted comment

      • Thank you very much for your advice!

      • But wouldnt the buffer clear quicker?

        • Yes it would, I guess it depends on the limiting factor, if your buffer is slow to clear then no point getting a fast card

  • The extra speed wouldn't help in a phone would it? Even if doing burst shots or something else intense.

    edit: Sounds like it's ok?

    • Yup, it's great for phones. From my experience with the note 3 and 4, burst shots save to your phone anyway.

  • +1

Wishing I jumped on the SanDisk 32GB Extreme Plus MicroSD when it was on the other night.

I'm sure that'd be a popular deal if ran again at $20 nudge nudge ;)

  • +6

I dont need it, i dont need it……I NEEEED IT

  • I've had a few SanDisks fail on me in the past.. has quality improved in the last 2 or so years?

    • 5 year warranty! Go get your money back! :)

  • Hmm, wonder whether 80mb/s is possible on the Wii U with loadiine.

    • Is loadline working for everything at the moment. I thought it was only for certain games?

  • Hi,

Any chance of a sale price on the ultra slim fit 128gb?

  • I hope rep can do something special for this:

    http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/sandisk-extreme-pro-32…

  • What's the random read/write on these like nowadays? I last looked over 12 months ago and found the Samsung EVO uSD's to be superior to the SanDisk's then, but these are newer.

    • +1
      • Thanks @tightarse that does help, and it confirms what I thought - these are not suitable for random Read/Write applications. I'll leave these for someone else who needs camera sequential read/write speeds.

        • +1

I think you find none of the SD type cards are suitable for random Read/Writes. The problem is the platform, not a particular card.

  • +2

80 mb/s is the read speed, does anyone know the write speed?

  • SanDisk Ultra 64GB 40mb/s $28(shoppingexpress.com.au)
    SanDisk Ultra 64GB 80mb/s $30(shoppingexpress.com.au)

The cheaper one has a UHS-I class rating while the more expensive one has a Class 10 rating?, and the UHS-I is slower than the Class 10? Is this right..?

    • The new model is definitely faster (listing will update to UHS-1, although the slower model remains fast enough for most purposes and will suit anyone not needing the extra speed.

    • +2

The 80MB/s cards are marked "MicroSDXC I", the "I" signifies UHS-I bus capability. U1 is the minimum UHS speed class, 10MB/s minimum same as Class 10.

    • @ cwongtech
I was going to ask the same question, cheers.
I was thinking any UHS-1 would be faster than a C10, just a tad confusing.

  • I was tempted to buy the new 128gb micro sd for my laptop, 80mb/s is around that of a hard drive which should be great. But the write speed is horrible at 15-16mb/s according to the amazon reviews…

    • +1
      • +1

I don't think it's the same model though, this is SDSQUNC-128G-GN6MA which should be the same as the one tested below
        http://www.amazon.com/review/R1REWOQ7TJJZ2Z/ref=cm_cr_dp_cmt…

        The ones tested there are

        Card Product code
        SanDisk Ultra 64GB MicroSDXC UHS-I (80MB/s) SDSDQUA-064G-UQ46A
        SanDisk Extreme 64GB MicroSDXC UHS-1 U3 SDSDQXN-064G-G46A
        SanDisk Ultra 128GB MicoSDXC UHS-I (48MB/s) SDSDQUA-128G-Q46A

        • Yeah, the 128GB I tested is not the 80MB/s read version. The write speeds may not be amazing fast, but they do exceed the speed-class' 10MB/s minimum :)

    • 128GB card tested at 88MB/s read.

This card tested at 88MB/s read, so it meets its claim. The 4K speeds are fairly slow at 5MB/s and the sequential write is 15.8 MB/s which should suffice for most applications. This will work well for most people's needs.

Tests done on a Kingston FCR-HS3 USB 3.0 reader using CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 x64.

Product ID on the package was SDSQUNC-128G-GN6MA
      UPC was 619659133795

  • Will these be good for gopro hero 4 silver? Or should I stick with extreme / extreme plus.

    • You've paid good money for a good camera, get a good card. I was using a regular micro SD while I waited for an XC version I'd ordered. The mSD definitely suffered while shooting in 4K. It got about 7 minutes and stopped. It's fine with the XC card.

      • Isn't the 64gb a sdxc?

        • Any card larger than 32GB is definitely SDXC, as SDHC only supports cards up to 32GB.

But you didn't mention the card size in your post. :)

It depends on what you shoot. 1080p, any of the cards above will work perfectly fine. I haven't shot 4K on my Silver, but at only 45Mbps any of the cards will probably do fine.

TA in the midst of a great deal yet again…

Do I need it? probably not…do I want it? hells yeah…

      thanks

  • Have been waiting for this deals. Bought 3 cards for my camera and phone, thanks TA

  • +1

Woah $67 for 128gb!? Hope these deals continue to appear despite the low AUD. Once the 128gb reaches approx double the price of 64gb ($56-60) I'm grabbing one.

  • Want to use the 64 or 128 gb cards for my Asus memo pad but it states that only 32gb card should be used. Anyone has experience using a larger capacity card successfully?

    • +1

I believe you can format it to FAT32 & it will support the full capacity on any older device, but max size per file is 4gb.

      • Thanks for the reply appreciate it. Just googled what that means as I'm a big noon. Any way of formatting it without using a PC? I had already bought 3 32GB cards now, kinda annoying to switch between them lol

        • Any way of formatting it without using a PC?

Unfortunately no. Once you put it in your target device it will only detect the capacity that it supports.

        • @grab_ur_freebies:
          I see thanks

  • Thanks TA. I missed last one and was hoping another one from you and here you go.. thanks a lot, man!

  • Thanks bought 2x32gb for my tablets. Any chance of seeing some deals on the Extreme Pro micro SD cards?

  • Thanks. Right timing. 64gb will go well with recently purchased camera from eBay 20% discount deal. Spend too much this week :(

    • +2

Spend too much this week :(

This week?! I've spent too much in the last 7yrs!…

Awesome deal, thanks. Need this for the G4 just ordered!

  • Thanks. needed another 64gb.

  • 128GB 80MB's SOLD OUT. Maybe update OP.

    • Or maybe add more, SE? :)

      • +1

Sorry guys - not enough stock this week, we still need some stock for our daily sales until more stock arrive.

        Cheers
        SE

    • Crap … was just loading up the page to pick up one as well.
      OP, more 128's please.

  • I need an SD card for 4K (RX100 MK IV) — 64GB or 128GB depending on price — what to get?

    • for 4k wouldn't you want the extreme? 95mb/s?

      • Not sure if I should wait for a deal :'(.

  • TA, please do this one..

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/215164

    i missed the deal :(

  • Thanks TA. Got 3 - assorted.

  • Was looking to pick up a 128GB to put in my Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Will I be losing anything by getting the slower model (as the faster is sold out)?

  • Goddamit missed another deal (128GB 80mbs).

Fran, will this deal be on again or was it a 'till stocks last' type deal?

    • Fran is from pc.byte not shopping express.
Can hope she's reading these comments and deals to match or better the deal

      • Pc.byte have done slightly better on the 32GB 80mb/sec (plus on their eBay store you can get the 4% cashback) see - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/215658 .

However the 128GB is $89.95 so pc.byte are still more expensive than shopping express at $86.35 after cashback for the big card.

      • Oh i'm getting my reps mixed up. Thanks for the clarification!

  • Noooooo! As much as I hate SE I was waiting for a high speed MicroSD 128gb version! Bugga snooze you lose!

    • Any reason why you hate Shopping Express?

      • +1

I received a DOA N54L server from them. Contacted them and they didn't want anything to do with it and told me to go though the manufacturer.

        • I see.

        • +2

If the manufacturer didn't/doesn't help you, you are legally entitled to a refund from SE under consumer protection laws, you don't have to go back to the manufacturer (presuming you want to return it, that is)… they can't say no!

        • Hi Saiya,

Thanks for your feedback. However, it does not sounds what we will do. When there's a DOA, we will request our customer to contact manufacturer to get a reference number so we can use that reference number to arrange a refund.

They will able to identify the fault on their product with their expertise and provide you the claim number. Getting to us with the claim number means we do not need to go thru testing phase again via our side & vendor's side as there's a valid claim number and makes your refund process much quicker.

If we did not advise you in this way, can you please PM me your ticket ID so i can find out what is going on?

I am hoping this is just a misunderstanding between you and the CS rep.

          Cheers
          SE
