110

Original Spend $100 Get $50 Voucher/Spend $200 Get $100 Voucher deal Excludes WA/SA

Stumble upon this while using the original ebay deal post.

If you ride a motorcycle, you would know what this is. It is a bit old compares to the current gen sena but still a very good intercom for the price. I won't be buying as I have the 20s which is not low profile like this one.

In-case JV ask what is the rrp, here are some international and local comparison on this bad boy:

Approx $227 after conversion Amazon
Same price as above - Revzilla
$220 MRG - Local online store
$215.6 Prestige -Local online
$240 Motoheaven - Local online

Don't forget cashrewards as well.

From the thumbnail I thought this was a really really crappy gamepad.

I thought it was a hoverboard

        I thought the same

i still dont know what it is :/

It's a Bluetooth intercom/music playing system for a Motorbike Helmet, great for long trips or if you've got some buddies with the same system.

Or you could just use Earbuds, but I find my Sena more convenient.

So riding bikes with music on is alright? Sounds quite… I don't know… dangerous. But I'm not a bike rider. When I cycled heaps, I always wanted to wear earphones, but I just really needed to hear the traffic around me.

        • +2

@flaminglemon: You listen to music in the car right?

        • -2

@macrocephalic: really? you seriously don't realize how much dangerous riding either type of bike is compared to driving a car?

riding either type of bikes are way way more dangerous than driving a car.
so many bike users are injured just because the car "didnt see" the bike.
i personally do not ride either type of bike but i can tell you the amount of drivers being distracted from driving a motor vehicle is ridiculous.
riders need to be 110% aware at all times.
i can drive down the freeway for 10mins and as my vehicle is higher up than most i can count dozens of people texting with the phone on their lap or just talking away going either 10km/h over or 10km/h under the speed limit. Some people should not be in charge of a motor vehicle.

        • @Hirolol: whats all that got to do with the previous comment ? pretty sure he would realise that bikes are more dangerous to use than cars, and that car drivers are very often the ones at fault. i believe what he was pointing out was that it is not considered dangerous to listen to music while driving, and so why would it be different for riders.

As has been said, listening to music in the car isn't considered a higher risk of crashing.

One thing that you all seem to fail to realise is that this does not use earphones. Those would definitely block out external sound more and that does increase the risk of not being able to hear things. But this actually has small speakers that mount inside the foam in your helmet. So you get decent quality sound but without it blocking your ears. Much like using the car stereo versus using earphones in the car. It's a significant difference. And seeing as you don't have the sound proofing of a car, or the insulation or the bulk of metal around you, your overall hearing with this is easily good enough and better than you'd get in many cars.

Try it out and you'll see what I mean, rather than just trying to imagine it being the same as earphones.

          @flaminglemon:

It depends on who you ask, but in my opinion/experience you can use earbuds safely, and they are somewhat beneficial because the engine and wind noise on a motorbike will damage your ears over time but you need to be smart - don't have them up so loud that you can't hear anything else. I used my Shure earbuds a lot early on and they were great, but not being able to adjust the volume while riding was a pain.

With the Sena, they use speakers that mount inside your helmet near your ears, and if I'm doing a long trip I'll also throw in some earplugs too, and I can still hear the sounds of vehicles around me. Being able to make and take calls is handy on longer trips too and the volume adjust is what makes it so good, no harm in turning up your favourite song on a long and lonely road, but in town you want the volume at a more reasonable level so some jackass doesn't run you off your bike.

        • @rakeem: haha i guess it turned into a rant about shit drivers.

        • @GreyGargoyle: Yup. I didn't factor in the wind and the engine, two things I don't get when I cycle. Thanks for the insight! I would have never even thought of that.

I ride a motorbike and had no idea what this was. You could have a more informative title and description!

    • I've been riding for 10 years and didn't know what it was until I read the description.

      • Me too guys.

But going by description, we "should" know! ;).

Oh well, ignorance is bliss I guess :).

Hahaha, sorry gents and lads, my fault to assume motorcycle riders knows what this is…

They are Bluetooth headsets/intercom units. Small group rides to keep the communication going. They can be used with phone gps (voice direction) and if you have a fancy gps, it can tell you speed camera positions. Pick up phone calls while riding, voice recording and music etc.

Not sure if this has radio built in, or voice command, but if you have an android, you should be able to talk to it just like you would.

But please note this is best to use with full face helmet as wind noise do get loud and one of my friend who rides a Harley said anything over 60kph you can't hear a thing… Though his exhaust is loud as too!

    • Nono… I'm familiar with the availability of Bluetooth headsets for motorbike riders. That's not the issue. I know what they do and how they can be used (comms with others, mobile etc).

I just had no idea that your post was for a headset!

Would've probably got more hits/votes by mentioning Bluetooth Headset in the title (or at the very least in the description).

Not having a go, just sayin :).

  • Hate ebay. Bring these deals to WA!

    • I don't know whether it is eBay or Woolworths but either way it is bad.
In a world that bleats endlessly about fairness and equality, this is discrimination.

      • You've got all our resources… you dont need our deals, you're rich :).

  • Thanks OP, looks like all sold, next price is around $230

The old Sena units were pretty big, bigger than Scarla, Blueant & similar.

I used to sell them (Scarla & Blueant) when I worked @ P.S

I dont know why it took so long for devices to get smaller.

You happy with your old unit?
