DSE Laser Mouse Pad $0.80 (Normally $59.98)
    What? 60 dollar mousepad lol

    • it's GOLDEN laser mouse pad. ;)

  • hey this is "tricky dicky" we're talking about!
but seriously, if the mousepad was one of those overpriced gaming brands like Razor or Alienware etc and made of exotic material with a really weird design, i get it, but 60 bux for an inhouse DSE brand?!

    • razer chroma mouse pad is like $80USD

    • Thats why its on sale coz nobody bought any and they have so many

  • which inverter should I get to plug in my miele vacuum into so I can vacuum the car? I live in an apartment with underground parking and no where to plug it in normally. I have kids and they are constantly dirtying the car

    • really long extension cord or one of those cordless ones?

    • +5

Neither of these. Vacuum cleaners usually consume 600 Watts or more, these inverters just won't handle that.

Your vacuum cleaner should have a plate or sticker on it, that says "240V 50HZ AC" or similar. On the same sticker will be the power rating.

Even if your vacuum cleaner is only 600W, that's more than 50 amps you'd be drawing from your car battery. You would have to connect the inverter directly to the car battery, and the leads would have to be very thick and stiff - similar to arc welder leads. It's possible to do, but probably less practical than what you were thinking of.

A better option may be to buy a really long extension lead or two, or a rechargeable vacuum cleaner. Rechargeable Dyson cleaners seem to have a good reputation around here, but they are expensive.

There are also 12V vacuum cleaners available, that have a lead going to your cigarette lighter plug. Probably much less powerful than your mains-powered vacuum, but will almost certainly be more powerful than a rechargeable. Example: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Hoove…

      • Wow russ, very interesting to read.

I would agree with the dyson idea.

Im not really a fan of dyson vacuums as they are way overrated. (Bag vacuum all the way)
But the cordless handheld ones are the way to go.

I modified my post a couple of seconds before you posted, so you probably won't have seen the last paragraph that I just added.

      • Ok thanks for your reply

    • 300W might not be enough for vacuum

You can get dust busters that plug into the cigarette lighter, they work surprising well as they can pull more power than a cordless battery model.

  • Label on the inverters say
    "Not for outdoor use"
but comes with cigarette lighter lead

    • The cigarette lighter lead plugs in to the dashboard… which is inside the car! I'm guessing that enables you to use the inverter inside and not outside :P

  • The inverters used to suck 6 years ago and more. Don't know if they are any better now. I used to dumpster dive behind a DSE and every week there were a couple of those inverters in the dumpster.

    • Indeed, a search for "inverter" on the DSE website shows all of their inverters are on clearance. Maybe DSE are going to stop selling them?

    • They are the same inverters.
Shitty nearly square wave and not at all reliable. These inverters are badly made and could become dangerous given the right conditions. When dealing with 240v buy something decent: sine wave and a quality build.

    • looks huge too

  • Haha I was joking about the mouse pad normally price ;p
Seeing who's on their toes :)

  • Is this ok for electric kettle to boil water? Thanks

    • +2

      no…kettles require almost 2000 watts.

      • -1

        and 8 ohms

      • thank you.

  • I was tempted to grab one, but I can't think of anything I would use it for.

You'd be crazy to use this to charge a laptop when you can just get a native car charger (which I already have).

    • Native car charger costs how much?
      The one's I've seen are about $70-80
