Glass Bathroom Scales $9 @ Harvey Norman [Warun Ponds, VIC]

80

First post on OzBargain!

Went to my local Harvey Norman in Waurn Ponds to pick up a cheap set of scales and came across a set for $9 (marked price $29.95).

This is only at the Waurn Ponds store and there are plenty in stock.

I just bought this a month ago. It uses the small button cells and doesn't last more than a month. I would not recommend.

    • Just head over to an electronics shop (Jaycar, Altronics) and get a triple A (AAA) switched battery holder and solder it to the main PCB.

2xAAA Panasonic last me over 1 year.

      • Mate, do you have a link or description of product? I didn't know if there was an option to use AAA.. If I need to buy a solder and stuffs, is that worth in terms of ROI?

Its only good if you already have a soldering iron and some solder at home.

          The holder: http://www.jaycar.com.au/p/PH9288

        • @liveyourlife: or you can pull one off an old kids toy

        • i've also done this to my scales, 2xAA battery holder off ebay soldered to the scale's battery holder contact.

not really worthwhile if you don't have a soldering iron or feel confident with your soldering abilities.

otherwise just buy a bulk pack of batteries off ebay

  • Never seen electronic scales that are accurate.

I'm literally about to give some away for free if anyone wants them. They state you as lighter by 2.4kg :p

Save yourself the grief and get spring based scales from big-w for $9.

    • dunno, i've got a couple sets of scales that i've collected over the years and they are all within .6kg of each other.

my only gripe is they seem to want to snap to the last reading if your weight only differs by a small amount

  • These have been on Ozbargain before. Still got mine from about 2 years ago, going fine on same batteries

    • Yep, bought same for $9 about a year ago.

      Seems everyday price

  • If I had this I'd keep thinking, "what if the glass broke and went through my feet".

    • If it went through your feet, would you weigh more because of the glass? Or less because of the cut? We should buy 2 just to test.

    • it's thick tempered glass, no chance of it breaking ..

  • bought this from HN from last deal .Good price and quality. The spring one which i bought from bunnings was crap.
