Wow, how cheap are these fares again by IWTF. Incredible prices and seem to be available for flights from March through to August next year, but you'll need to check yourself as the cheapest fares seem well spread out. Prices include all credit card fees. Happy travels :)

  • Ridiculously cheap for Beijing.

IWTF - Inexpensive! What The F#%k.

Too many cheap tickets. It's ridiculous.

  • Cheap oil.

    • Good show

      • ¿Qué?

  • they go through hong kong, what happens if you just get off in hong kong instead?

    • -7

Then you buy a ticket just for HK Return

No one cares if you take the connecting flight

    • +10

If you get off at Hong Kong, and dont go through to your final destination, then they will cancel your return portion, so you won't be able to get home.

  • Crazy cheap wow!

  • -2

Layover at Hong Kong for 1h 15m
I do not think you have enough time between flights especially taking into account that Chinese carriers are not too punctual.

    • +11

This is Cathay Pacific we're talking about. Up there as one of best airlines

      • -2

Your connecting flight is likely to be dragonair and subject to the same delays leaving Beijing on the return leg. I'm not talking about the quality of Cathay and dragon, they're both pretty good.

Personally I would avoid a connection under three hours for a booking originating from a Chinese city. 5 flights departing Beijing and none of them have left within 30min of the scheduled departure.

        • Exactly right. Delays are usually caused by the chinese air traffic control so it doesnt matter which airlines you are flying with you will still be affected and this happens to almost every flight that leaves the beijing/shanghai airport and i dont really see why people neg you for.

        • @going nowhere: meh, they're just internet points rolled out by people with no idea.

If they think flying Cathay has any impact on your flight making the scheduled departure/arrival from Beijing or Shanghai then they're badly mistaken. They're not all late, but a good majority of them are. Sometimes the airlines are nice and hold your onward flight, but you'll be traveling without your checked in baggage.

        • @ChickenTalon: and as luck would have it, I'm actually writing this on a plane that is sitting on the apron in Shanghai, 15min past the scheduled departure time and we aren't moving.

        • you are absolutely right.
air traffic control at nanjing held our plane on a run away for 50 minutes with no other single plane landing or taking off.
the weather was perfect as well.
as a result we had to run through beijing airports all the way and just managed to ctch our connection flight.
now I am not considering anything with less than 3 hours when flying through China.

      • Cathay is usually punctual but not always. I took a CX flight (SYD to HKG) about three weeks ago and had a 1.5 hour delay (plane mechanical issue) so… IMO it wouldn't hurt to allow more time for transit just in case.

  • Still about $1k return for anyone thinking about visiting the Chinese F1 in 2016.

    Title not right.

Beijing fares from Sydney are from $589, but cheapest Shanghai Cathay fares are $797.

Still a decent price - but a fair bit more.

    • +3

      You're actually incorrect. Shanghai $583 return…

      • +1

Fair enough. Pity I couldn't find those flights before!

Unfortunately even the same date that came up cheaper for Beijing did not correspond with Shanghai.

  • The deal has been rolled out by CX couple of weeks ago. Valid thru till 15/ 11.
Discounted prices are on selected flights only. I bought tickets to Seoul at around $750. The price was for a morning flight out from Perth. The price could be $400+ more if i chose the midnight flight on the same day instead.

So what is it you're actually saying?

  • Anyone know when Disneyland in Shanghài will open next year ? When is the good time to go there ? Warned to not go there during their winter time due to thypoon.

  • is this including or excluding airport tax?
i sent this ozbargain link to a friend and he said it does not include airport tax which would total to $400+?

    • +4

Your friend is a potato. You will find that a couple years ago the Aussie Govt made all airlines include ALL taxes in their quotes to the public. You may remember Tiger Airlines doing $1 flights….. Plus $99 taxes. Sucked a lot of people in.

      • +3

thanks mate. i'll let him know he's a potato head.

  • does the seatch engine show lowest prices in a calendar mth? trying yo seatch march and i give up going through every single day.

hey guys, if u use multiple flights search, you can change yoyr dates to stopover in HK. Can also fly in peking and fly out pudong for $620.

I will try to book this and coordinate it with the $49 7 day shanghai and beijing tours. basically a 14 day tour inc flights for around $750 and we still stop in hk and spend 2 night in macau. thank you for the tip! unfortunately the tour is only abailable for chinese ppl and is a mandarin speaking tour. incs hotels, bfst, lunch and dinner and sightseeing. I have read mixed reviews but we know a few ppl that have done it and said it was good. 4 to 5 star hotels and cant complain for $49.

    great timing!

It sounds like 'forced shopping tours'

    • Those "tours" are horrible. I was on one of these 2 years ago, and it seriously felt like I was being imprisoned.
They won't leave the shopping stops until they're absolutely sure they have ripped every single cent from the willing on your bus. And that usually means 3-4 hours.
Now imagine being woken up at 6am and being rushed onto the bus for a 3 hour trip and then find out that when you step off the bus you're in some warehouse in the industrial area of a city, and your guide refuses to let you go where you want, and then spend the next 3-4 hours just waiting.

Then after that ordeal is over, they tell you the next stop is another shopping stop.

This is pretty much your daily itinerary.

I got mine for free, and I regretted it for the entire 7 days.
      That's 7 days I'll never get back.

  • yes i heard that too but my friends said they still got to visit all the sights and the hotel was nice and the food. we wont be buying anything from factories because we dont have money. they do a day tour to summer resort chengde which would cost a lot to go on our own. we r kids free but dont want to spend too much as long as we get to visit the sights. how much time did u get to spend at imperial palace/summer palace? in macau, we want to stay at new JW Marriott which would probably cost more than my flights lol in shanghai it also incs yellow mountain. unless we do another tour, we have to organise hotels n trains and hopefully not get lost. i only speak cantonese and i struggled in guangzhou not being able to speak mandarin. i think we def have to fo tour of some sort.

    • Worth going, but check the yellow mountain leg and make sure you are not the only couple going. We went thru the shanghai, nanjing and also the optional yellow mountain. We would go again now that we have some experience but will definitely confirm a few things before we go.

In a big group is great, there will also be someone spending so the focus is not on you. If its just you and your wife.. its going to be a very very hard sell and you will be there for a while….

Our tour sights was good (well for the price anyway), accommodation was great, food was reasonable. Double check what is the daily tips and what currency it has to be in (before you leave aust) and make sure you understand what is mandatory and what is optional shows. Have the name and international dial number of the local contact just incase and just make sure you leave the credit card at home!!

      Hope this helps.

  • The TA tickets don't give you seat preference I thought only LCC like Scoot and Airasia played that game.
