Rather than starting a new post, John Farnham Greatest Hits is also free… was on the front page of Google Music for me.

Hope the album cover doesn't represent the quality of the music.

I think the 'horror' element is to be found in the spelling/grammar of the track listing.

If it's free, why do I have to enter credit/debit card, or paypal account, to redeem?

    • You need a card linked to your account, the charge is $0.00 though.

  • more like a compilation of sounds, creepy sayings, etc.

Free music is always good, but personally I find Google Music Store itself to be obnoxious to use, designed for cell phones with unlimited data allowances. Downloading is a real pain, compared to say Amazon or Bandcamp. Bandcamp is an example of music done right. Easy to download from and a choice of formats including lossless flac.

Google is a seriously overrated company. Their search engine is good (except for the fact that it has so many DRM takedowns and removes popular sites like Kickass), but almost everything else Google does is lowest common denominator trash. Just one example, their Windows Music Download application is 47 MB of bloatware.

Compared to say iTunes which is a pleasure to use and a tiny download - not

      • Agreed - ITunes is aweful as well, and I avoid using it. Apple insists on imposing their 'vision' on the user.

For the people who negged me, I cannot even do simple things with Google's download client, like download a single album at once. If it was half decently coded, it would give you a list of all of the tracks in your account, and you could choose which ones to download using checkboxes, like for instance you choose which track to encode in DBPowerAmp batch music Converter. But no, it is too hard for the inept losers at Google. 47 MB for a downloader without any features. 2 MB FTP clients have a lot more functionality than that.
