  • Good deal on the Optus sim's. I stocked up on Telstra sim's from coles last week.

I use the $5 Optus sims for $2 days 500Mb data when im running out of data , need to stock up

      • Do you mean you can activate these sims on the $2 a day plan somehow?

        • @easternculture:

Just curious how do these work exactly?

I just activated one today on the $2 per day plan.

Does it automatically go onto the $2 a day tomorrow or can I use the $2 a day in a few weeks time?

        • It won't cost you anything if you don't use any data or make a call/sms. So you can use the $2/day in a few weeks time if you like. You will still have all your credit, as long as you haven't made calls/sms or used data it in the meantime.

        • @natman:

          Thanks heaps for that information!

So will basically turn phone off and then back on again when I want to use.
          Perfect!

How did Tightarse suddenly morph into EasternCulture… ahhhh.

  • How much GB can I get out of this if I go for the usual 30-day expiry plan? (not the 500mb/day for $2 plan). Thanks in advance.

    • Gigabytes in this context are a countable noun thus we ask " how many Gigabytes ?" Not "How much Gigabytes".

      • +15

Thanks for the English lesson, King Grammarse

      • Say the answer was half a gigabyte, applying your countable noun lesson, would the question be "how many gigabyte", "how much gigabyte", or "how many gigabytes"?

        • 0.5GB = still "how many gigabytes"?

or the unit can drop down…
500 Megabytes … yes, with the stress to inform the listener

    • thus we ask " how many Gigabytes ?" Not "How much Gigabytes".

      Its how many Gee Bee's

          too much speeling poolise

        • @easternculture: hehe yeah. Chill king tightarse, it's only the internet.

        • @easternculture:

Also, it's Gee Bees, not Gee Bee's, unless the Gee Bee's are a noun that can own something.

        • @DeafMutePretender:
          The title threw everyone off:
It's "Woolworth's Deals" not "Woolworths Deals"

        • +1

          @Bargitrage:

It could be argued both ways. Firstly, the company name is "Woolworths" (including the s). So calling it Woolworths Deals is not necessarily grammatically incorrect. It's like saying "Dick Smith Deals" (though in this case, even though it's grammatically correct, it is realityly incorrect but that's another story).

Now, if you wanted to say that these deals are something that Woolworths owns, then you might say "Woolworths' Deals", unless you're American, then it would be "Woolworths's Deals"

Then again, if you're American, then you're more likely to be saying "Walmart's Deals" or "Walmart Deals", but that is yet another story.

        • @DeafMutePretender:
          Yeap. Agree.

Only one Lord mate, unless you are using the possessive pronoun on purpose and have forgotten the apostrophe and to type the object of the sentence. ( e.g. the Lord's prayer).

        • @Gershom:

          Only one Lord mate

          Yeah but which one?

  • Can the $30 Optus prepaid sims be used to make purchases on the Google app store?

    • No

    • the onnly sim i know so far that works is the telstra prepaid sim

  • Hello
Can i check… does this deal start on 4th November or is it in store now until 4/11?
I cant find it in catalogue myself online for nsw.
Also I have 2 amaysim $10 and 2 telstra $5. Is there problem porting from amaysim (optus 4g network) to the above optus sim?
Trying to cheap out the to the max ….. hopefully optus sims have a good expiry on them?
    Cheers ozbargainers!!

  • Old El Paso mexican kits are not $3, there are only the old el paso tortillas for $3 not the kits

    • You know it for sure before the deal starts on 4th Nov?

      • Well if it's for the 4th of november that is a different story..

  • Where does it say Optus $30 kit for $5? I can't see it in the catalogue, but i could be blind.

Also, is there any conditions to purchase, i.e. $30 spend, EDR card, etc. etc. or can you just buy it from the counter?

  • I like this prepaid war between the big telcos :D

  • Does this give unlimited calls and 1 GB data as per the Optus plan for the 1st month ?

    • yes. Make sure you choose that plan when you activate the sim card

    • 1.5 GB

  • Can I use this $5 to deposit for my old prepaid $2/day with unlimited data? and if ok then how can i do this? Thanks

  • +3

Checked 2 Woolworths store nearby and none of them have the Optus SIM stock.
    Woolworth is becoming another ALDI.

      • See what happens when dealeos are posted we jus sea dolla ;)

      • You got me there :) however they are already out of stock :P

    • So they can advertise these stater packs $0, just the same Lol

  • Are there any conditions to purchase, i.e. $30 spend, EDR card, etc. etc. or can you just buy it from the counter?

  • Anybody notice the raisin toast in the catalogue $5.40 earn $2.70 rewards.

  • Dear all

can I buy and stack multiple optus sim kits and port number every month to get max benefits?

    For example,

I activate one sim on 4 Nov 2015 and use it for one month for unlimited calling. After one month, I activate another sim and port old number from earlier optus sim to enjoy unlimited calling?

    Thanks

    • I believe you can't port between the two, You need to buy a $2 telstra/vodafone sim and port to that, but then you can port back to optus again.

      • Thanks. So here is probable plan

1: stack few optus sim kit
        2: activate first sim card
        3: use for 1 month
4: port number to vodafone / telstra after 1 month
5: port back same number to new optus kit.

now Q: How long generally it takes to port number from one operator to another? if it take more than 2 days, then efforts are not worth.

        • I can't help with that sorry, but I believe it only takes a few hours these days… In the past for me it was quicker when I called rather than doing it online.

        • @Mattwilko:
Got few from local woolies. They had plenty on stock but with expiry on 1 feb 2016. So purchased few only

        • @vr4indian:

I got 2 today from mine, Expiry 1st March. I just use them in a dual-sim phone

    • +1

I have a fair few telstra and optus $30 starter kits at home - been stocking up each time I see these deals.

I basically port between optus and telstra each month for me and my wife's phone.

If you port during business hours, usually takes 30 mins for the process to complete. It's a really quick process if you do it online, especially if you have your account details registered to a profile, you don't need to enter your details every time - except your drivers license.

I been doing this for a couple months now. Be interesting to see if either telstra/optus say anything about me doing this long term.

    • You can replace the sim it will keep the same number with credit.

  • I just went into Woolworth Auburn to pick up the SIM card, there was no conditions of purchase, just ask them if they had it in stock (still 5 or more when I was there) and scan it, came up as $5, pay and away I go.

$30 Optus sim kit, expiry date: 1st July 2016

  • Bloody hell cant find the optus pack in atleast 3 woolworths store I visited in Melbourne. Has anyone in Melbourne able to get these ?

    • +1

Tried 4 woolies stores in Sydney earlier this morning and all of them didn't have any stock either

      • Same here, sold out. Optus or Woolies fail.

    • Sunshine plaza I got 2 today.

  • I found some $30 Optus sims. Lady brought up code, and still showed $30. No indication they were on sale. I'm in Vic.

    • Ok figured it out. She was trying to sell me a recharge, not the starter SIM. Was wanting to stock up, but best expiry was 1 January 2016. Other store had them, but 1 Feb, not long enough to stock up.

  • About 5 Optus sims left at Marryatville SA as of 30 mins ago. Took them ages as they wanted a copy of my licence and then do an ID check through the computer etc. Never had that before when buying starter packs.

    • Just got one . They asked for an ID so i walked away. The guy then called me back and sold it with no ID lol

      • Haha hard sell. I thought they were just going to ask for ID, not type it all into the computer (which wasn't working initially). They gave me extra animal cards to apologise for the delay (after they also tried to double charge me).

  • Tried 1 Woolworths, didn't have any. Will try another. I'm not expecting anything.

  • Tried a couple of woolies in WA for the optus sim, none of them have stock

  • These arent a SIM card plus a $30 prepaid voucher are they?
Needing a cheap option for some $30 vouchers for existing accounts.
