Netgreen Tablets - 10.1" $59 & 7" $39 @ Target [Broadway, NSW] - Possibly Other Stores

140

Hi!
My first post. Hope i did everything correctly.
I saw these 2 in the TARGET Store in Broadway (and nowhere on the website nor the ebay Target Store).
One is 10,1" for $59, the other is 7" and $39 !
Now the Specs. Funny enough they both have EXACLTY the SAME Specifications so it's up to you if you can live with a 1024x600 Resolution Screen on a 10" Screen. I have bought both of them just to try them out and check the resolution and I honestly have to say that it doesn't look as bad on the 10" Tab as I thought it would. For $59 it's really quite good!

Processor: 1,3GHz QuadCore Processor
RAM: 1GB
Storage: 8GB
and the usual Wifi b/g/n , 3,5 Headphone jack, Bluetooth and GPS, and 0,3MP Front, and 2,0MP Rear Facing Camera!

  • OP, an important spec is whether the tablets have Google Play or not. If it does, it will be written on the box. You should include that information in your post, and also say whether the charger has a USB plug or not.

I'm not surprised 1024x600 looks okay on the 10" screen, for many years I worked with 1024x768 resolution on a 24" monitor. As long as the fonts are anti-aliased (which is always the case nowadays), it will be fine.

Both have Google Play and both Chargers have USB plugs too. Sorry I am unable to find out how to change the pic.
I took a pic of the receipt but I'm too stupid to change it with the existing one :(

When you reply, you should cick on "reply" under the comment you are replying to. That way the comments stay in order correctly.

I'm not sure how to change the pic, I suggest posting a comment asking a moderator to change it, and once you have posted the comment, click "report" under your comment. That will bring it to a moderator's attention.

  • 10" $59 but out of stock online http://www.target.com.au/p/quad-core-1-8gb-tablet-mw1628/573…
7" $39 also out of stock online http://www.target.com.au/p/quad-core-7-8gb-tablet-mw71q6l/57…
OP does the 7" have GPS also? Could be a cheap in-car GPS/Media Player if so.

    • In the Broadway Store they had PLENTY of both, 10 and 7inch.

      • no just checked. actually no GPS on the 7"

    • Could be a cheap in-car GPS/Media Player if so.

For that, you probably want a better display. The cheap ones are best used indoors.

    Machine washable apparently

    • Front load or top load.. preferred washing powder?? .

  • I might buy the 7" one to use in my Pipboy for my fallout costume. Thanks O.P.

i'm holding a 7" tablet up to my wrist, that's gonna be a bit big…

    • Not going to fit - even the iPhone 6+ wont.

  • These have the worst screens I've ever seen. Unless you're looking straight on the image washes out.

Also, after a couple of weeks, ours started installing apps like Baidu Browser, DU Speed Booster, etc. by itself. Seems it has a backdoor not unlike those Onix tablets from Aldi.

    • Can you share more info about back doors? Never heard of this before

    • They all have back doors, its just a question of how secure they are, and who holds the keys.
I trust Google, China's MSS and NSA more than some random Shenzhen factory. :-)

  • One soeci noticed that is a big difference between the two is the battery size. The 7" comes with a 2000mah, whilst the 10" comes with a 4000mah battery. Unsure if the real world difference would be very big, courtesy of the screen size difference, but seems a fairly important spec to me.
This is all according to the target website btw.

The battery life is very good and the speed of the unit is more than acceptable. That's on the 10"… The screen is abysmal, however, easily the worst I've ever seen.

      • Well I bought the 7" today, no stores anywhere near me had stock for the 10". So far, the battery life is rather underwhelming. Bu it is trying to power the same number of pixels as the 10" with half the battery capacity.
Aside from that, I've noticed very little lag at all in the device. I'm significantly impressed by the speed of it all, especially considering it was only $40.

      • Picked up a 7" today, and the screen is much better than the 7" unisurf from HN some time ago, and that cost more before mucking around

Have these been seen at any other branch?

    • I bought my 7" at The Castle Hill store, and was told that the Carlingford one also had quite a few of the 7" left. This is NSW by the way.
Nowhere near me had any of the 10' ones left sadly.

I got the 7 inch one yesterday, the performance is really good, but the battery is piss poor. How is the 10 incher's battery life?

    • And from what I read in the manual, non-replaceable unfortunately
I can't imagine the 10' would have significantly better battery life though. It's got double the capacity, but it also has to power a much larger screen.

      • Well, I think I'm going to return it. What's the return policy of target?

        • Say… "It doesn't suit my needs" as they generally don't accept change of mind.

        • @Clear: Returned today, too bad only the battery was sub par…

  • I'm in need of a new smart paperweight.
