A standard website costs $49 to setup (normally $99), and $16.50 / month. No Contracts. Unlimited updates at no additional cost.

A premium website costs $99 setup (normally $149), and $22.00 / month. No Contracts. Unlimited updates at no additional cost.

No hidden fees, nothing else to pay no matter how often you would like a change made.

  • website "setup" ??? What does that mean ?

Is this a bargain, or just SPAM ????

    • Not spam. 'Setup' means that you select a 'template' style from one of our many templates. The Website shop staff will then customise this template with your business name/wording/pictures etc for as little as $49. This is the setup fee. The Monthly fee ongoing is $16.50 for a 'standard' site and this covers free unlimited changes that we do for you. There is no contract and a customer can chose to leave at any time with no penalty charges.

      Hope this helps.

  • You just add basic information and media into templates and charge $50?! The $16.50 a month to keep hosting?!

And the best part if someone isn't happy with what you guys have done they can change it themselves for free?! For something so basic they should be able to do better themselves from the get go.

The templates look awful aswell, not work $49, let alone $99.

    • The ongoing unlimited free changes are done by us on our customers behalf. Its not a self serve. You can simply ring us or email us with what changes you want, and the websiteshop staff do this for you at no additional cost. We do not expect our customers to have to use the internet at all in order to make a change.

The setup fee also includes the cost of the domain registration which is registered to the customers ABN and therefore belongs to the customer in case they ever wish to leave.

      Hope this helps.

    • Drakes — can't help thinking you'd have complained even if this were $5 setup. Think about running their business. A decent web developer heck even just a decent reliable specialised white-collar employee of any kind is going to cost a business $40K+ in wages alone and that's well over $20 an hour, every hour of the day, every working day of the year. From experience, even just running through your business's services with a new client on the phone can take an hour even if you don't get the job, so how these guys cover costs at $50 I don't know. They deserve some credit for that at least. An no I don't know them, nor endorse them, nor have I even looked at their site or work.

For most businesses, $50 setup plus $198 per year hosting is practically free (ie such an insignificant amount as to be a rounding error) and as such you can't complain about a free website which someone else updates for you at your request.

      • Umm no I wouldn't just complain mate. I design web sites myself and I was basing my comment on my experience and the information provided.

The fact that domain registration is provided and is still registered to customers ABN once they leave changes everything here. I really think the poster should make that a tad clearer in post because that changes everything here.

The below elaboration also makes things much clearer and actually now understand from a business point what proper services they provide instead of just adding information to a relatively simple template. For a small business this is a great deal, especially for trades ect. But their web site and initial post doesn't really do the services promised any justice.

      • The fact that the first poster was also confused suggests a bit of a vague approach to describing the deal.

    • I'd just like elaborate on what we do. First and foremost, we offer a service.

For the 'setup', we discuss with the client what they want to use their website for. Then we register the domain for the customer (the cost of the domain name is included in the price). Then we create the website, and host in in our 'test area' until the client is happy with the result. Once the client is happy, we make the site live.

The monthly fee covers much more than just hosting. If a client wants 10 new photos added to their photo gallery, they simply email them to us (or even post us a CD), and we will load them up - no additional cost. If they want to make a change to the home page, simple call us and tell us what you want changed - no additional cost. In additional, we maintain backups, perform website monitoring, and will renew your domain name when due.

I beleive that for the service we provide, our regular price is a genuine bargain. Sure people could do this themselves for less than we charge - but for the service we provide to our clients, this is a bargain.

      Thanks,
      Paul.

      • Thanks for the clear explanation.

is there any potential for customers to sell items directly through web sites design by you guys (even if it comes at an extra cost or they have to do it themselves)?
what are the main differences between a basic and premium web site?
        Thanks.

        • Thanks for taking the time to read the response. We will take onboard the criticism that we should have explained the deal more clearly in the first instance.

As I said in the original post - we don’t do full customised websites, and we don’t do online stores. There are plenty of web design companies out there that do that kind of thing. Our business is focused on serving small businesses, tradesmen and self employed people that would like a relatively simple website to help promote their business.

In relation to 'standard' verses 'premium' website. A 'standard' website is a basic 3 page website with text, photos and contact details and a single email address. A 'premium' website extends this to 5 pages, and include photo galleries, a contact form (which gets emailed to you), google map, and up to 5 email addresses. Customers can change between 'standard' and 'premium' at any time. (They simply need to pay the difference in the setup fee when upgrading)

          • @The Website Shop: Thanks for the reply.
With forwarded contact form and photo galleries the premium account seems to have serious bang for the buck.
