I bought a pallet worth of quilton for around 8c a roll last time on ozbargain. Still have a garage full of it :p

    • +6

Ah yes, those were the days. The look of horror/surprise on the faces of Woolies staff as they wheeled out 3 shopping trolleys full

    • I too had from last time, but they have finished two weeks back i am still waiting for offers :)

      • Still got about 10 left my self.. LOL

      • +3

2 weeks is a long time to 'wait' for a bargain.

    • +9

You, sir, embody the OzBargain spirit.

I'd tip my hat to you, but, I don't own a hat because I have been unable to find one at a price I am willing to pay.

    • +1

Wow how did u get the pallet to ur house?
Did you have to unload the pallet into ur car?

    • Still got around 15 left sitting in the garage. :)

  • +1

Works out about the same unit price as the Coles smart buy 12 packs.

  • +10

You need to calculate the cost per sheet price as sometimes the discount rolls have less sheets per roll!!!

    • sometimes, the number of 'ply' also differ!

    • Then take into consideration if its 1 ply 2 ply 3 ply or more

  • +3

Hope this is not some sort of a stinking smear campaign to get you to buy more stuff. If they are it's wiped on thick cause it's a good price.

  • +19

I don't like the cottonelle any more.

Its rips too easy. My last roll I ended up in a pretty shitty situation more than once.

    • +16

Same, I can't stand the stuff. I have to be super careful if I visit someone else's house and it's all they have.

Quilton is much better, doesn't rip and you don't end up shoving things where they shouldn't be by accident.

      • I agree. Most Kleenex tends to rip so your hand ends up covered in, well you know what. Quilton is the best when it comes to the right balance of softness and strength.

    • +3

One thing you should never stinge on - Toilet Paper. That 1-ply rubbish they dish up in airports, schools and malls may avoid clogging, but comes at the significant public impost of getting everyone poop-smeared fingers.

    • +4

      Agree. The poke-through is real

    • +5

Completely agree. Cottonelle falls apart in your .. er .. hand. And leaves fragments behind.

    • My partner's family use this cottonelle crap. I've tried to explain to my partner that when you try to tear it, it rips in the middle of the sheet instead of at the perforation like it should! And therefore is a truly horrible experience.

It's better than the wax paper stuff in an airport or a dodgy suburb's public toilet, but that's all.

    • I like natella

    • Things get shitty sometime

  • +6

I'm not sure I'd use Cottonelle if it was free.

  • +5

Buy a bidet and you never have to use toilet paper at home. I bought one of those japanese toilets and they're the bomb.

    • Still need to dry your bum after a bidet though?

      • +4

Let your bum dry while you're washing your hands with soap. You get use to putting your underpants on while your bottom is a tad wet. Better than having left over excrement.

        • +2

Why do you still need to wash your hands?

        • +6

          @muncan:

          Good hygiene practice.

        • +2

          @tendollar:

Says the guy with the wet bum. :-P

      • +1

They actually come with a fan compartment to dry your bum.

      • +1

Yeah I just used one or two pieces of TP to pat it dry.

    • +4

I don't think there's one with enough PSI to handle curry for a hairy backside. Do you keep a backup roll?

And if you don't, what do your guests think?

      • I have toilet paper in all the toilets. I just don't use it. :p
Guests don't use my personal toilet anyway.

        • Can I ask where you got it from? And how difficult was installation etc? I imagine it needs to be installed by an electrician as well as a plumber?

        • +1

          @mooboy:

My friend's company ordered about 200 from Japan and I Managed to get one too.
It's similar to this one. A handyman from the company installed it. I am guessing he was a jack of all trades. THe electrical part wasn't so difficult. It uses a standard "AC 220V / 50Hz" plug. It's got a lot of protection around the plug to prevent water damage.

  • Absolutely agree.. Kleenex quality has really had a flushing! The paper just tears and it puts you in a sticky situation😂

  • +2

Lol, the comments crack me up on here…

    • As long as the crack is clean you will be ok.

  • +1

💩 (always wanted to say that)

  • are these 2 or 3 ply?

    • +1

      1 ply

      • what? for real?

        • I just bought a pack. Pack doesnt specify number of plys. I went to the toilet just now, can't split the sheet so I would say its 1ply… maybe that's how they make it this cheap 17c per 100 sheets…

        • +2

          @felixco:

          so kleenex cottonelle are 1-ply, 180 sheets, 100*100m, $0.17/s.

          we use tork 2-ply, 400 sheets, 100*110mm, $0.14/s.

1-ply and smaller sheet size makes this a crap deal.

        • @whooah1979: where do u get tork? never tried. is it soft? good? if its rough then i dont care how many plys… i'm gonna try coles so soft 3 ply next time only 20c/100sheets

        • @felixco:
tork is commercial stuff that they uses in shops, public toilets etc. not nice, we use it at work cos it's cheap.

        • @whooah1979:
cottonelle is one ply but made different, kinda puffed up.

        • +2

          @PVA:

they're tough for good reason. there is enough crap on escalators, food court seats, etc, in shopping centres as it is. imagine how much more crap there could be if management changed to soft tissues.

        • @whooah1979:
          true true.
I also think its to stop people pinching it, hurts too much :)

        • toilet rolls getting thinner
          chip bags getting smaller
mcdonalds large coffees, big macs getting smaller
not long now before it's 1/2 ply

  • +1

Buy one of this spray at masters & DIY, You will never have to spend on toilet paper ever

    https://www.masters.com.au/product/101460268/lindoni-napoli-…

  • +3

If you buy this, ensure you cut your fingernails beforehand

  • +4

now you are just starting to talk shit

  • +1

Kleenex had been my date roll of choice for decades. Now, not only does it tear everywhere except along the perforation they have reduced the size of a slice to little more than that of a postage stamp. Sent an email to complain and tell them that I would not buy their product any more. They sent me a $10 eftpos card to try their products; guess what I didn't spend the $10 on.

    • +3

      Strippers?

    • +2

:-), betting they are about to get a few more emails.

  • Is this cheaper or the 3ply from Aldi?

    • it depends on how many ply, sheets and sheet size.

  • -1

Papers paper, as long as it does the job, "correctly"

    • paper doesn't do the job

      get something like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/291564822812

you wouldn't "wash" your sweaty smelly armpits with a dry piece of paper, would you?

      • ironically, people are satisfied with the least care for places that require the most.
bum -> tissue, paper, sometimes nothing.
everything else -> water, soap, deodorant, perfume etc…

  • not sure if its just me, but the cottonelle we buy from costco
are better quality than the ones at ww and coles.

  • +1

    how many sheets per roll?
we bought cottonelle or sorbent a while back and the sheet count per roll was less than the smaller packs - something like 6-8 packs were 180 sheets , 12 packs were 160 sheets.

  • BigW sell ok loo paper, from memory, 32 rolls for 12 or 13 dollars (cant recall its brand). If your desparate, it's a good deal, that's always available at my local in perth. No pokethough and solid wiping action for whole family.

  • Stay away from these ones. These are the one that don't say 3 ply on the package. Really shit quality. I guess kleenex thought we will enjoy the pun

  • Forget how many plies, it's the puncture/ rupture failure that's the problem. These guys need to improve the tear strength of their product. Like trying to wipe your arse with facial tissue

  • Kleenex's 1 ply is about quilton's 2 ply thickness so you can't compare the number of plys…

  • I just bought some cottonelle from Costco… usually get the Quilton from Coles. Oh crap.

  • Sad when people pilfer that shiny rough funny paper from caravan parks, airports, council dunnies etc

    • All at all work places, sand paper wouldn't be as rough

  • I'll be stocking up.

surely not everyone has forgotten about the poopreport? :)

    • Hahaha, according to that post I hated Cottonelle even back in 2012. Well, nothing's changed.

Recently bought the Aldi Confidence Double Length rolls, and had complaints that it wasn't as soft as the Emporia that we had before it. Toilet paper is a real area of conjecture for a lot of people.

  • I never knew ozbargain took so much pride in wiping their ass

  • Cheers just got a pack

  • My gran b.1917 mentioned years ago, when she was a kid in England, toilet paper wasn't available.
