Fly to the moon & back if you'll be my baby yeah

      • That was one of my favourite songs back in the noughties…

        • +2

          It was the nineties.

        • @onetwothree:

Men haven't been to the moon since the 70s ;-)

        • @onetwothree:

True, I happened to hear it first in 2000.

Call aunt Lucy (she lives in the Skye with Diamonds).

    • What about a bit of Afternoon Delight with sky-rockets inflight

    • A bad Chinese copy of gangnam style?

      • +1

this is the only joke i didnt get… 😅

    • it used to be good value to use skype to call overseas back a few years ago, now with plans like VF who provides unlimited calls to select overseas destinations, its one less reason to purchase the credit.

u might use the credit for the online number, but again its subjective to what uses you would want to use it for that provides the value.

      • +1

Very useful when you need to make calls while overseas and you don't have a local phone.

        • Yeah. I needed to make a booking over the phone while on holiday so I used my smartphone connected to a WiFi AP and made the call.

      • I did a quick search but I couldn't find one. Could you please point me to the correct direction?

    • No 4G?

      Boooo.

    • +1

      Don't even think about it!

512MB of RAM is a definite Nooooo. It will perform like a slug or at least it will as soon as you receive the first lot of app updates.

    • Dual core, 4gb, 512 mb. No thnx

  • My world unlimited subscription ending soon, but I cant seems to find the same subscription (the one included calling to OZ landline and mobile) again. Does Skype not longer provide unlimited world subscription?

    • My plan is not available to users who didn't subscribe while it was available.
What i was told by skype was as long as i keep paying the fee i can use until i cancel the plan. All you need to do is recharing credit before expiry date or choose auto renew option or something like that

      • Got it thanks.

      • Yep, Skype CS team confirmed, I too dont want to give up
Unlimited Aus local & mobile calling in my subscription.

waiting on 50% (unlikely haven't seen them for a long time)

    • If you have subscribed to Skype My World already, just make sure you have loaded up you Skype account with 40% off credit and the subscription should just take money from Skype credit automatically and roll over for another year. At least thats what happened to my subscription in July.

Pretty glad I subscribed to it last year with a bunch of 50% off Skype cards from Coles. Am on the 600 mins to landline and mobile on 60+ countries. So now just have load up enough for next year.

  • Better clean out freezer cheap drumsticks comming up. My son only gets them if on special

  • For 10 more. The telstra e4g is a better buy. (bought one from dse)

  • Has anyone tried the SFC Boneless Bucket , it's always on sale but haven't had the balls to try it

    • +3

      Don't… do it… DON'T

      • +1

        ^ totally agree! tastes disgusting

        • Haha what does it taste like

        • @strikerzebra: overpriced and bland chicken. Just grab anything else from Ingham or Steggles and it is infinitely better. (Although not a fan of the ingham chicken tenders)

    • Grow a backbone and try it then.

    • Specials! haha SFC Boneless Bucket $7.50
      currently its at $4 something,

Still havent tried it, now I am skeptic :(
I thought it (SFC) was Colonels sister
but I am guessing from what others have to say its going to be Soggy Fired Chicken lol

      • I think it's a UK copy

      • +3

Tried it just now, NEVER again !
on a + the cat loved it.

You know when we buy whole chicken and it comes with plastic and the black fresh liner pouch.
I reckon its made of that or maybe chicken feet lol

The chicken had chicken stock/salt flavour to it, to mask whatever it is.
Coz it def not chicken lol

      • +2

Don't do it. I bought it once, never again.

    • +1

I like it. I think they're probably the best frozen nuggets.

    • +1

I wouldn't say it's bland but they're definitely not a KFC clone. I personally find it the opposite of bland - overspiced to the point it tastes like someone accidentally dumped the whole spice jar (cumin?) and didn't want to waste the batter.

  • DIY Nandos, save a fortune

    • Might stock up, always wanted to DIY nandos a whole chicken, have you done it before?

      • +1

Yes, it actually turned out really legit. Marinade the chicken, get a le creuset skillet, heat it up to high heat and off you go. A lot cheaper than buying nandos

        • le creuset skillet, google said it was a posh frying pan

  • is it possible to get 5% price beat from OW for the skype credits?

  • I want discounted DSE Gift Cards dammit!!

  • Good luck beating small business to the cleaning up the limited Skype cards.

Glad I 've committed to no more than 300 minutes last year's World plan, fine value, but been watching the value slide down/ tel-cos catch up. Has become ineffective for its premium purpose too - receivers unable to identify where + who call is coming from + no uncharged proper dial number to give out/recieve crappy texts etc.

Switching to the better gvHangouts, from +$80 dwindling in Microsoft, ahh the waste.

    • If you are on subscription premium plan, there's an option in settings (FREE)
put your mobile number in there and it should then show your mobile number when you are calling using skype

I have that option enabled and its free, unless they have changed it recently.

    • (Cost stays static) I refer to the most recent acknowledgement from Elaine Moderator on community.skype.com forum about the precise issue):

"I have noticed a gradual but steady uptick in reports of caller ID not functioning properly or consistently, regardless of location. In some cases, this is a wireless carrier issue. Will flag for review by those to whom I report in hopes there may be a work-around or answer offered."

This was a week ago for the CLID I'd be surprised if many have not noticed stopped working months ago to no avail - see 2 page thread from 12-08-15

Now this hardly bodes well for Microsoft, that I find my "free" Google Voice numberdoes not suffer the same obstruction, but instead comes up reliably on three AU carriers — CLID (Calling Line IDentification) works flawlessly.

You should find your mob. number ID gets through in maybe 1 out of 3 skype? pretty sad for business calls and probably entirely unfit for personal.
If I switch a verified US carrier number on Skype CLID, that just invariably ends up "private" here. Opposite to the result achieved using google voip Hangouts.

  • Woolies hardly has any sales on brown rice. just sucks that I don't live anywhere near a coles. ughh.. guess I'll have to lug a bag of brown rice around the city like an idiot come Wednesday

Just be aware that these (Skype) cards are Ukash Skype cards
Codes wont work, you will need to contact Ukash (I am in process)
Then they will issue new codes.

    https://www.paysafecard.com/en-au/lp-products/ukash-welcome/

    • +2

Been down this path also, Ukash say it's not their cards after submitting photos. Have contacted Topps Digital Services who are now chasing Skype to resolve.

    • I had the same issue. Skype say that no retailer are allowed to sell these cards past 31/10/2015. Went back and returned it at Coles.

      • +1

great! another version from customer support.
the cards you returned were they used? (PIN code scratched)

What did you tell them at Coles to return?
thing is $10 ones they worked for me
So am thinking if I can return (i doubt) then swap with $10 ones.

        • I took a copy of the chat with Skype to Coles. They were very apologetic. I don't think it's Coles fault but Skype's…

"All Voucher in Australia are all Ukash Voucher and redemption for Ukash Voucher already ended last October 31, 2015. So you can have a compensation about this one. You need to contact Ukash for that onehttps://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA959/how-do-i-pay-with-a-ukash-voucher?q=ukash

        • +1

          @praveen4:
I have raised it with Ukash too, just gotta wait
else ill take it back to Coles.

        • @SlipKnot: I am glad cokes accepted the scratched Skype card. I contacted Cokes on FB and they said Skype has authorized for them to sell the cards and they have not received any complaints. Hmmm!!

        • +1

          @praveen4:

Read my latest post below, Coles are aware of the issue ans Skype seem to be admitting to them, they have an issue. just Not to us.

  • Was with Skype Dumfucks CS team
Tried explaining them these aren't vouchers (UKASH) that these are physical cards
    They gave above link.

Found their CS 1800-178486 (local tariffs apply)24/7 Number
Spoke to them they said what I thought too
    UKASH is printed receipt voucher
Skype Physical cards are issued by Skype.
Took all PIN's now will wait for them.

Now you are telling me I gotta contact Topps Digital Services,
Mate has your issue been resolved or still in process.

  • Sounds like the same conversation I had with Skype support. Topps haven't resolved it yet. Have sent my receipt and one of the PINs (bought four) to them via Facebook. I also stressed the situation is going to get a lot worse now that this sale has started.

I bought 4 $25 Skype Card from Coles today and I have another $25 one from Woolworth a few months ago. All OF THEM ARE NOT WORKING.

  • This is quite strange, i bought 3 $10 ckype cards from this deal. Used 1 straight away and it worked fine. Havent tried other two but after reading above comments I guess I will try them today

    • Google search will tell you All $25 Skype Card /vouchers are having problems. Looks like this even started in 2013. $10 is ok, but I suggest you add the credit to your account asap. Will never trust them again. If Coles not refunding, I will never buy from them again. So much trouble for this 40% discount. If this doesn't work, the discount is -100%.

TA, please add warning to your post. Don't want other ozbargainers to suffer. I know you are busy with CashRewards stuff.

    • $10 worked for me as well, go figure Re: "Skype wont accept UKASH cards post 31/10/2015 "

Can everyone, who have bought these cards from Coles 40% off offer and having issues please post their Store details on here.
So I can advise the Head office of these various stores statewide.

      Format:
      Coles Strore Address, State, Australia
      Telephone Number
If you spoke to any person their name.

  • I gotten the same issue too, argued with the online chat and gotten no love. Spoken to Coles customer service and they acknowledged there were some issues with the gift cards and they told me to send all the PINs/ Serials to their email address so they can bring it up with Skype.

Makes me wonder if they knew there are issues with the cards, why are they still allowing people to buy??!

    • I've just successfully refunded All 4 $25 Skype Card from Coles. Need a bit of wait for the store manager to come out, but once I explain to them and show them the screenshot of "Unknown error…" from the redeem screen, they go ahead and refund all 4 (3 untouched, one scratched).

Still have 1 $25 Skype Card I bought from Woolie a few months ago and tried and got the same problem. Hope I can dig up the receipt and show Woolie the screenshot as well for a refund.

        Call Up Coles Customer Service 1800 061 562 (Option 7, I think)
Speak to CS Rep, They are aware of this issue.
Leave you Name and Contact number so they can advise you of the outcome.

They have raised this with Skype, Skype have acknowledged (apparently)

Hopefully Coles will be providing with a resolution by today afternoon.

        • The customer service said they can activate it properly business hours tomorrow. Guess we'll see.

      • Coles Chatswood Chase said no refunds. :/

        • Rubbish, Speak to Coles CS 1800 061 562
Once fixed show it to Chatswood coles ;)

Got an email from Skype Tier 2 support to do the following. After that it works. Looks like Skype has fixed the problem!

"Greetings from Skype Tier 2 Team!

This is in reference with your Service Request ********* about issue in redeeming voucher. We appreciate the information you have provided to us.

    Please follow the steps below:
    1. Clear cache and cookies.
    2. Use other browser
    3. Use other device.

If the event that the issue persist, please send us the screenshot of following:
    1. Proof of payment.
    2. Front and back of the physical vouchers.
    3. Error message.

I will look forward for your reply!"

    • It worked for me - I used Chrome incognito mode on a PC. Topps Digital Services also responded saying the problem had been fixed

  • Today I bought $120 Skype card from Coles and recharged my Skype account. It is working fine, no issues.

    • How is call ID screening going for the recipients - seeing blocked number?

      • You can setup your caller id number by login to www.skype.com and under my account you will see an option to set up your number.

        • It is set up of course, showing a green tick and have sent SMS. Perhaps you are lucky. MS have not progressed:
          http://community.skype.com/t5/Other-features/Caller-ID-not-b…

        • @daver: I use my mobile number as Caller ID and it works so far. Haven't got any issues, try using your mobile number. Also depends on which country you call and how they route the International calls.

        • @jded9423: Okay interesting. The Optus & Vodafone as caller ID did used to work for domestic calls. Did you by any chance ring Telstra Optus or Vodafone carrier numbers while testing caller ID and credit, I wonder..
How recent is your subscription to (premium) Skype if any ?

My 1st year renews this month which apparently would include 300 minutes terminated to AU mobile networks if I don't call overseas as much. The in-market plan offers just 60 mins and 1 country AU for similar money by comparison. If legacy plans appear that unsustainable it would make sense to save money and discourage usage, withdraw support and even necessary CLID

Perhaps the World subscription is a case of 'too good to be true'. But how are we or those in the above linked community to really know. So far no comment from MS: only blocked AU caller ID AUSTRALIA. (Seen it work calling GoogleVoice USA)

        • @daver: I got your point now. I mostly use Skype subscription for calling overseas and there it display my Callerd ID which is my mobile number. I tried test calling optus, Vodafone and my land line today and it didn't show me my caller ID number.

I am using Skype premium subscription since three years and I am happy with the call quality and the price. I have converted my International frequent calling number using Skype to Go number so I just dial a local call and it gets connected directly without login to Skype Application.

I am having the Old Skype Premium Unlimited - 12 months > AU$ 116.49 plan which cost me around $6 /month after the 40% discount cards. It includes the unlimited Australia land line/mobile and other 50 countries.

  • yes its all been resolved, gotten an email from Coles.
