    RAM 1GB

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Good one.

    1GB ram = no deal.

  • 1Gb of ram is ok in a sub $100 phone

1Gb of ram is ok in a sub $100

You mean price not performance ….

      • Most sub $100 phone performance are great because they have crappy low res screens. The zte fit for instance even outscores the nexus 5 in antutu.

        • And yet people still lining up to buy higher than FHD 5.5" phones.

        • @Jackson:

The lower end phones are getting good, but still a bit to go. I'm sure in next 12 months or so we'll see sub $100 phones with 720p screens. :P

    • +1

Yes but this phone is over double that price which is ridiculous.

which unlocked phone do you suggest under 100 with 1GB RAM, 8MP Cam and quad core?

    • +1

iPhone 6 (not 6s) has only 1GB of ram and still has excellent performance. But yes agree, Android+1GB is not enough.

  • +1

Hahahaha no one cares if the screen is curved LG, 1GB of RAM is a joke!

I'd rather pay US$132.99 for the Elephone P6000 Pro 3GB 16GB octa core from geekbuying using coupon code "VNWJBBZC"

and how to claim warranty if device is fault? who pays for postage etc?

There were many phones on bargain have a look on phones, they are much much better than these phone and they are from $180 to $250 i even dont think of this phone to buy after looking chinese phones, believe me they are very good phones.

  • A good deal I saw tomorrow is 50% off all optus prepaid devices at big w. https://www.bigw.com.au/bigw-catalogues#view=catalogue2&sale…

I assume that means phones? Could pick up something like a Lumia 640 for half price would be an awesome deal. $179 normally so $89.50 if that is what that sale means.

    • Thanks Ronnnie, i believe it's prepaid only but I will definitely try tomorrow.

      • yes it is prepaid only, but I read plenty of anecdotes on whirlpool of people getting free unlock codes for optus prepaid phones. Well at least with the Lumia 640. The right phone unlock codes can be sourced pretty cheap online too. However you have to make sure whatever phone you buy has all the frequencies for the network you intend to use it on. Goodluck!

        • Is it possible to buy the 640 on the big w website? There isn't a big w close to me unfortunately.

        • @Cronut:

I looked online, the 640 isn't listed on their website. And I don't know if that discount will apply online anyhow.

        • @Ronnnie: thanks for your help. Guess I will miss out :)

It's not bad I guess. The price when compared to chinese imports is very ho-hum but when considering that this phone can be had for $202 price-matched, it makes it a better buy over the similarly priced Motorola E (2nd gen)

The only downside I see with this mobile is the lack of 850mhz 3G, which means it's not a very good choice for Telstra 3G / Voda 3G users.

    • At this price range locally it's really hard to look past the Lumia 640.

      • I think android is more powerful/functionally and offer more apps than window's OS. what do you think?

        • +1

I've tested Windows phone. Here's what I thought about it

          1. The UI is slick. Really slick. MS did a good job of strategically positioning buttons, swipe points, gestures, and the vertically scrolling home screen. And like the iPhone in it's early days, it's really simple to use and a quick google *(ahem, Bing!) you can easily be a pro user in no time.

          2. the OS as a whole is very battery friendly. Mostly because it uses live tiles and not widgets, which is not as power hungry as full fledged widgets.

          3. the camera and build quality is generally very good on Lumia. The higher end Pureview phones take great photos.

          Now the not so good

          1. What used to be unique and exclusive about Windows mobile is now stripped… HERE maps, Office, OneDrive, Skype, all of these are now available on other platforms. so what if you have a MS device? an iPhone could use the same apps.

          2. App resume times are pretty bad. Especially with devices with lower amounts of RAM.

          3. Some apps which I consider essential to me are missing. For someone already used to Android / IPhone switching to a WinMo device will be a bit of a shock at first. I mean, there is no official app for Snapchat and that already turns some people off.

          4. You can forget about using certain wearables. It ain't gonna work with Pebble.

          5. Due to the tight security of the sandboxed operating system, apps cannot communicate and transfer data between another. At most they have access to the file system and the camera API, but that's it. This makes productivity very difficult. This makes for some seriously gimped applications: even though the Windows operating system is supposed to be flexible and be able to run the same applications between desktop and mobile, the strict sandbox nature of WinMo prevents developers from making more powerful apps. For example, a user running Photoshop on a desktop could extend the function of Photoshop using downloaded plugins and filters. You can't do so on Windows Mobile because the API doesn't allow the application to be modified or use data from another app.

  • The main negatives at this point is apps and the browser. Window mobile 10 which is due out soon will hopefully rectify this. Most the main apps are already on windows phones or have third party alternative. Some apps like YouTube don't exist but I find the third party alternatives such as mytube is way better than Googles YouTube app. If you are invested in Google ecosystem than window phones definitely is best to avoid at this stage. The performance on the lower end devices are lot better than what you find on Android, everything is smooth and fluid. I have never found windows phones to be slow at resuming apps/games, loading webpages or launching apps/games etc. I did a test comparing my note 4 against the Lumia 930 and the 930 beat it in the majority of cases when it came to loading apps/games and webpages. It actually amazing how well they seem to manage memory compared to Android devices of similar spec.
