    Australia has a Starbucks?

Where the hell have I been?

    • There's 2 in Sydney. They have been around for a few years.

Very true! you should try their orange mocha frappuccino ;)

Just not at a gas station…

        • +1

Won't be a problem within Australia. There are no "gas stations" here.

        • +1

@tommyc:true… better make it a liquid/gas/electricty supply service station then…

        • @Wakety-Wack:

In Australia, the term "service station" ("servo") describes any petrol station.

        • +1

          @tommyc:
Costco's service stations are branded "Costco Gasoline," that's pretty close.

        • @tommyc:wiki better get with the costco times…

        • @Wakety-Wack:

Costco are just little US embassies.

        • +1

@tommyc: full of Australian citizen employees.

Yeah I live in Victoria, there's a few in the city….Starbucks have this weird business model where they have 4 all bunched up within 2 minutes walk of each other (have been to America and can attest to this statement for over there as well).

        • Right in the CBD where all the (asian) tourists are. They consume Starbucks like crazy. It's also seen very much as a status symbol. Kind of reflected as their prices are constant around the world and not scaled to the local currencies.

@downhillmtbr: Even dearer in China compared to Australia, and when confronted with the pricing anomaly the head of starbucks in China replied that it was because on average people in China spend longer sitting in their stores thus consume more resources etc.

        • @maolin95: What an explanation haha

        • They actually used to have heaps in Melbourne, but ended up having to close all but 4 - most of which are within walking distance of each other.

      • there's actually 7 in the city!

      • Do they have dark peppermint hot chocolate like they have in UK <3 <3 <3

EDIT: Nope doesnt look like it, the white hot choc'd probly be nice but. Also this one looks cool and I could lie to myself that its healthy for me http://www.starbucks.com.au/menu/40/green-tea-latte

      • and Mount Druitt…

I think they arrived for the Sydney Olympics, expanded and about 5 years ago a whole heap closed down. Hard to compete against real expresso; but I can't go pass a Frappucino. There's one still in southern cross (Melbourne) - perfect timing for my walk home after work…

      • What's an "expresso"?

    • Starbucks Australia has 25 coffee houses in Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne.

  • Their matcha frappucino is fantastic but the regular price is exorbitant. Don't get me wrong, I hate Starbucks coffee as much as the next self righteous latte sipping Australian but half price frappuccinos is a good deal. Thanks OP!

      How much is it normally?

      • +2

Tall (small) is around $6 - 1/2 price is a much better price point.

        • Holy shit that rrp is expensive. Thanks for the info

  • typical white basic b!tches rejoice

  • +1

Do you know if they have almond or coconut milk as a substitute?

  • Cheers op

  • Awesome! Thanks op!

And again……WA is excluded in yet another deal.

Yeah, yeah, go on, enjoy the half price

    • Believe me you are not missing much

      • +3

Believe me they are missing everything.

To call this 'beverage' a Frappuccino is more than a mild insult to a good cup of FULL CREAM Cappuccino…

  • Thought the lowest moment in my life was when I was 'babysitting' my wife at Disney this year and I lined up for around an hour for starbucks…the fact I had to pay for that stuff is criminal. Americans have no idea what they are missing out on… having said that, their cold drinks are acceptable…

      Your wife must be young…..

      • Young at heart. With a love of these parks.

Dumb question, but is frappuccino and frappe the same thing?

    • +1

was gonna ask the same question :P

      • +1

It's okay, I took the hit of looking like the dumbass not you lol

    • Kinda, frappuccino is basically starbuck's trademarked term for a dolled up frappe.

Starbucks is lucky to be alive in Australia due to Asians. Non-Asians do not really enjoy coffee there.

  • -1

    such an unhealthy ripoff

  • Considering the shortage of milk in China. I'm not surprised the cost more in China

  • +1

For those who didn't know, the franchiser who owns the rights to Starbucks in Australia is the same as 7-Eleven owners.

  • Think Gloria jeans is still way better.
