Hi coolsetps,
Your brake pads should have a wear indicator on them which will touch the rotor when you need to change the pads (its a little metal tab).
The mechanic recommended i change to rotors too. so how can one tell when they need to be changed? does the metal tab scrape and wear down the rotor?
If you leave it to long the metal tab can wear down the rotors, there is a minimum thickness recommend by your vehicle manufacturer. As your mechanic has inspected your vehicle if they have suggested your rotors need to be changed it most likely does.
how many mm are the brake pads ment to be? got mine done at kmart auto as the old pads had 3mm left only thus front brake service with Bendix Brake Pads fitted with two front rotors replaced and it costed a fortune. wish i seen this deal before hand and would have done it myself.
