I used to think that roasting whole duck is too daunting but it's actually not too bad, and the result is pretty amazing. I followed the 'Pi-Pa Roast Duck' recipe from Adam Liaw's cook book, but I'm sure there are other recipes online.

I plan to do 2 roast ducks over charcoal for Christmas lunch. This is great. Thanks!

now you can do 4 ;D

If there are left overs (we make sure there are) then it's toasted duck sandwiches for lunch the next day. It's a Christmas specialty at our house.
Great stocking filler for the kids, thanks OP!

"what the duck dad!!"

Thanks OP, might have to duck into Coles this weekend

Yes, and now the Bill won't be too big!

Got two last night. Any recipe suggestions?

Duck and pork terrine with the breasts and duck rillete with the legs. I've made that today, amazing taste and one terrine in the freezer for Christmas day now.

Pluka Duck, at Coles!

Duck this and duck that! I'm sick of this xmas frivolity! Now quack off you bunch of mulards (another!) !!

Guess everyone else chickened out on the puns

Top billing for a quacker of a remark

These sell out fast so better get in quack

There will be ducks out of water if it rains checks instead of water

does anyone know if duck meat is supposed to be healthier than chicken? well it's better than eating red meat that might cause cancer…? i was actually thinking of buying a few ducks but i'll need a bigger freezer to put them in LOL

I wouldnt think logically so. Duck has more fat due to evolution needing them to store fat over winter to fly south etc

Yup. And duck fat is used alot in French cuisine. Surely not healthy then!
Ok I'm going to buy a duck, and sautee veges in its rendered fat.

has anyone tried making peking duck from beijing? anyone have good recipes?

I followed the 'Pi-Pa Roast Duck' recipe from Adam Liaw's cook book, but I'm sure there are other recipes online.
Nope, couldn't find a single one.

I recommend this recipe. Made 2 perfect ducks based on it today.
