I dealt with them (Control Group), bunch of hopeless idiots IMO.

  • +5

I still have not had my cashback since last deal that is a long time. I thought I would try and see what happens with this cashback thing but have been disappointed that I have had to wait such a long time. I bought some of these cards 06 Aug 2015. I might be doing it wrong! I don't understand how I get paid. TA can you help at all with this? I just want to know how to convert the My Rewards to cash.

    • Log into CR:

      Top right Get Paid

      Get Paid
With secure payments of your available rewards balance - to your bank account

Make sure you have bank account info in your CR account.

      Easy as bro.

      • +1

I would swear I tried that 5 times before and it never worked. Thanks, that did the trick. I must have been doing it wrong all this time.
TOP RIGHT - near the login is where to request to be paid. All good.

        • No worries. You're welcome.

    • i bought one last week and it was 04/2017

      • +1

I bought one from 7-eleven last week and it has expiry date 12/2016. Tried activate it and not working. Both Telstra and 7-eleven are blaming each other. DO NOT BUY ANY SIM PACK CLOSE TO EXPIRY DATE!!

        • Weird, live chat activated an expired sim one time

        • @aldoduco:
          Wow, you got lucky!!

        • Are you sure it's 12/2016?

        • +3

Since when would a year be classified as 'close'???
(Anyway, let them blame whoever they want, just get a refund if they won't fix it.)

        • @aldoduco:
Yep, did one last week, expired 01/11.
          Wasn't a problem.

        • +1

          @McFly:

I was thinking the same. He must be from the future.

      • +1

What a coincidence - it was 04/2017 for me last week too!

  • -2

These clowns should be banned until they sort their sh*t out. Boo to cash rewards.

  • +1

    Can I buy 4?

    • +2

I am sure you can, the important question is if buy 4, do we get 4 x $10 cash back? anyone?

      • +1

That's true, need to know that too.

      • +1

I bought two last time, only got one cashback.

      • You can't with the same CC and details, I tried to buy more than 3 last time and failed.
And yes, you will get 4x cashreward, just make it 4 seperate transactions.

    • +1

Don't buy more than one or you risk being sent to the control group and they will waste your time and make you run around!https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/210671

  • Can't get directed to Telstra deal from the CR site. It just return back to CR.

    Any ideas?

    • Looks like Telstra is running the whole show here, just renting a page from CR. CR cannot do much.

      • OK. Thank-you. Does this mean there is a trick to getting the CR deal? I am fairly tech savvy, though not sure where to head from here.

All the other CR deals I have grabbed from OzB have worked seamlessly.

  • Thanks TA

  • Can I buy this and use its credit to unlock phone?

    • Yes… if you have enough credit.

      • I want to unlock Nokia 530 which I bought last year. I chat to web support and they said it needed to be 2 years to get free unlock, otherwise have to paid 25

        • I unlocked my Nokia 530 using Telstra credit $25 couple of months ago. Bought nokia 530
and sim starter through one of the ozb deals.

  • +2

Still missing cashback from 4/8, logged an enquiry (#10349) a month ago, still waiting.
Not willing to head down the same path again.
I now only use CR wherever the shop/retailer is not available on other cashback programs, eg. RewardGateway (corporate program).

    • +2

Hey battler, can you PM me your Cashrewards user, Id like to see why no-one has responded to you and fix that transaction for you asap.

      • based on email confirmation I just received, seems you found it based on the log number and have resolved the issue.
        Thanks for that.

        • +1

No worries battler, sorry for the hassle.

  • +5

Did this deal last time and never got the cash rewards dosh, seems like its happening to quite a few OzBers. Not a deal as its too random

  • Does anyone else get stuck on a blank page?

    • Yep. me.

    • something wrong with the site. I am stuck as well.

  • Yep seems to be an issue on the Telstra side, we'll see if we can get a hold of anyone.

  • Seems to be working fine now :)

    • +1

Nope, still not working. Even disabled ABP and Ghostery.

  • +4

Cash Rewards I hope you're taking note of all the negative experiences from above, from the users (your customers) and suppliers not paying.

If you aren't the number 1 in Australia yet, improving customer experiences will go along way in achieving this.
Look after your employees and they will look after your customers. Wishing you the best of luck.

Cheers for the deals CR & TA.

    • +3

We are always taking notes!! It's our NO 1 PRIORITY to pay our members as quickly as possible. Unfortunately some stores are slow and we are determined to fasten them up but they complain about the rigorous checking they have to do to make sure goods are not returned etc and by the time this data flows through their systems etc it takes a while. Anyway we will not give up on this, stay tuned for much faster approval times from most of our stores from this month on.

  • +1

be aware that Telstra might put you through pains to get these. Ordered these a long time ago, they did not send mine because I am a 'suspected fraud' and have not refunded my money either. See my rant here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/210671

    • +2

They tried the same stunt on me. Delivered a yellow card midweek in the mailbox saying to pick up from local PO. I turn up at PO on Saturday morning and Telstra had recalled and collected the sim kits on Friday. As I'd moved Sat morning plans to be able to collect them, I was annoyed. Tried calling, spent ages before they said there was possible fraud because I'd had a Telstra account at a different address 10 years ago! It was only when I turned up in one of their Sydney CBD stores and threatened a citizen's arrest on the store manager for theft by Telstra of my money that it got sorted out and they were suddenly able to reolve the problem then and there.
PS if you're going to try a stunt like this, make sure that you are in a store with security cameras (so you can prove that you're not trying to make trouble other than to resolve the problem and no physical threat to anyone) and remain calm and polite but firm at all times. If you come across as physically intimidating or emotional, it could easily backfire and you could find yourself in trouble.

        • +1

I can only report that it did work. Suddenly the store manager was able to get authorisation to either refund my money ($75) or give me the sims. Before that, I'd been promised refunds over the phone 4 times over several weeks that were never processed. on one occasion I was told that it was my fault for having moved (10 years ago), which had supposedly triggered their fraud alert as I was using a different address to what was in their system. I never managed to get them to explain what the supposed fraud was as they had successfully charged my credit card in full.

      • +1

I am not going to give Telstra a penny! I did want to take it as far as I could, so Telstra stops but apparently a lot of people of ozbargain thought that I was some sorta bad guy and Telstra was right in doing what it was doing. If nobody stands up, telstra will bully us forever!

    • +2

I was thinking of buying a couple of them but after reading your rant I don't want to bother

      • +1

probably better to stay away from them. They did not provide me the service and are yet keeping my money. I ordered the sims in August, 4 months and I have not received my money back!

        • +1

Aug 3rd purchases x6 were email notified and paid yesterday, so check your account later this week.

  • Thanks Cashrewards, just received my final 8 payments from Telstra.

  • Just got my cashback for 6x Telstra prepaid from back in August 2 mins ago, without sending any enquiries e-mail.

    • Only a 3 month turn around.

  • +1

I hate how Telstra deduct your credit card then check your details, had my last one cancelled, will try again.

  • +3

Given the large no. of negative comments re Cashrewards and Telstra, I think I won't bother. I still have 3 transactions pending with CR.

    • +1

Yeah, people should avoid. Telstra online are completely upside down crooks. They sell goods, take the funds, but refuse to send the goods. They promise to pay refund everytime, but usually don't. Three months I've been calling T-phillipines because they will not forward me to real T-people, and I've just given up. B*stards!

    • it is not so bad with Telstra*

*until it goes to the Telstra control group and if it does, they will drive you nuts and waste your time. see here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/210671

  • +1

But I have more than 5 prepaid mobile numbers already…won't let me buy this (same as last deal). I asked Telstra customer rep to take out the old, expired numbers but they won't do it.

    • +1

Is 5 the limit? Because I have 2 wifi modems already.

Can you create another account with the same name and put it on those? Or are the 5 numbers linked to your ID or something?

      • +1

After 5 the ID requirements increase. I have 11 services on my account at the moment. It's the Telstra store that everyone has trouble with, if you purchase your SIMs elsewhere you'll have no troubles.

    • twice now I have asked the rep to remove my old numbers, never had an issue.

just say you wish to cancel your number.

    • CSRs have removed them for me. They then take up to 24 hours to disappear from My Account.

  • Can I use my CR account to buy in someone else's name? I can't use my own name for the order, because I'll be expected to be home to receive it, and I won't be.

    • +1

      Yep, should work fine

  • +5

Warning! people, this is a TelstraOnline purchase, see previous post comments. Don't buy from them.
I am still ringing Telstra Phillipines regularly, after three months trying to get a full refund for $120 purchase, they would not post because they created a security alert on my purchase.
This problem has been going on for over a year causing lots of people a great deal of pointless pain.
Buy from DS or Bigw etc. Avoid this and pay $10 instead of $5, it's likely worth it to avoid problems.

    • +4

To save time fill in the complaints form online at https://say.telstra.com.au/customer/general/forms/Email-Comp…. This was the only thing that worked for me. Calling them was useless.

      • Also, forgot the mention but emphasise that you have wasted enough time calling and will only deal (or at least prefer to deal) via email.

        • +1

Actually I did, but just got a call back from them that I missed. Will try your suggestion about email.
I did call them again (phillipines) but after 15 mins getting nowhere, I hung up which I recommend highly. Feels good.

        • @Bargitrage: Don't bother talking to the control group. it is just a waste of time. they will harass you till you give up!

        • @harassedbytelstra1:
10 years ago when people had problems with telecommunications companies they went to the industry ombudsman.
This worked because the company would be charged by the ombudsman to mediate, so they jumped. You got fast fix.
No one has suggested this lately, does it still work?
I just filled in the complaints form again, but in total I've spent 10 or so unpleasant hours on this, so I should get that back as well(dreaming).

        • @Bargitrage: Well I did go to the TIO and TIO stated that Telstra can ask for whatever documentation they want, however unreasonable that might be. I lodged a complaint again today that they did not give me a refund. Telstra would now have to get back to me within 10 days!

  • Thanks, where were you when it was $10 last week? It could have make it free

  • +1

Cash rewards takes too long to make it worthwhile.

I have purchases from July or earlier still pending funds. At this rate you need to wait close to half a year to get cash back in some cases never. So I'm neutral on this one

Besides I still got the $1 SIMs no need for this. Instant no need to wait for cash back

  • Don't get too excited when you see a 'pending' cashback appear in your account. If there is anything wrong (from supplier or from CR), they can cancel your pending cashback anytime without telling you.

I once have a pending cashback from David Jones and it disappeared. Took 2 week for CR to do the 'investigation' then I was told DJ has no record of the transaction….. full stop.

      • +3

Don't think they're doing themselves much good, allowing this kind of reputation to grow. I mostly use pricepal now even if it's much less value.

    • To answer your question, yes I can.

  • Never got my cash back from Telstra from the last deal. You can't reliably think of these as $5. Yes I already contacted a rep and filed a support ticket

  • is it finish?
It redirect me to HTC Desire 510 Grey instead

    • +1

      Me too…
I can go find the $30 starter kit in their page but I am worried CashRewards gonna say, since you clicked on something after the forward and didn't stand on one leg and scratched your nose twice, then no cashback.

    • is it finish?

      It's HTC, not Nokia…

  • +2

Warning, Telstra require you for delivery with your ID, and if you miss it, require you (not a family member) with your ID at Australia Post. My wife wasted over 30 minutes, then so did I. Potential of waiting 30 minutes in line again to save $5 off Woolworths price not worth it to me.

    • you can pick it up from auspost later

  • Do I have to provide ID when activating this SIM card? And if so can I buy 2 and register them both under the same ID?

    • I remember seeing something about tick here if you don't have 5 active Telstra sims already, so I'm guessing they allow up to 5, and even then they are probably going on the honour system of you telling them, rather than them stopping you at 5. I've definitely got at least 3-4 under the same ID.

      • +1

If the old sims become inactive, does that still count towards the limit?

        • What do you mean by inactive? If you mean the credit expires then you have another 6 months before the account gets terminated (ie becomes inactive). You can ask Telstra to terminate before 6 months.

  • +1

sounds like too much hassle (telstra ID verification & waiting for cashback)

  • I just bought a couple, both were tracked successfully within an hour of ordering them. However, the first one is tracked with $10 cashback, but the second one was tracked with $8 cashback. That $8 amount appears in the email notification and on the my Rewards Balance of the CashRewards website.

If a CashRewards rep is reading this, is this a problem with your system or are you only offering $8 cashback for second and subsequent purchases?

    • For the few that I ordered I received full cashback.

      • +1

CashRewards finally got back to me and fixed it back to $10 on my balance. :)

  • Mine was delivered this morning and has a June 2017 expiry. The accompanying paperwork says it's already activated but when I try to call (new number) it, I get the number is disconnected message.

    • My guess is it will automatically activate when ii's seen on the network.

  • I've ordered 4, received them activated and used credit on google play. Afterwards I terminated the SIMs. So I have less then 4 mobile services. However I can't order anymore - is there a purchase limit?

There's so many movies I want to buy :)

      • +1

The limit seems to be 2 per card now :(

Also cashback seems to only cashback on the first order of 4. Do you know have to clear cookies in between orders or use incognito mode to sign into cashrewards and out again?

Does anyone know what law Telstra is relying upon to limit purchases to 4 or less? If you go to supermarkets they don't require ID so I want to know which law they're basing it on?

        • Nevermind - it's now tracked all 4 :)

  • Ordered on the 23rd but still haven't received cash back tracking. Anyone else in the same boat?

    • Same here, no cash back tracking yet…

      • Did you make sure that all your adblockers were turned off?
