OK, I can see where everyone's confusion is coming from. When you go to the link the OP has posted, you'll see a deal where it says "$5 1st month. Online orders only, to 30 Nov. Code: FIVER" but there is no mention of porting a number to get 5 months free after the initial $29.90 for the first month. Can easternculture elaborate how this deal works? The referral link ($10 FREE Bonus Credit) works fine but there is no talk of this deal on the main deal EC has talked about above.

  It's at the end of the signing up process, where you apply the promo code then the plan will change. You can give it a test after putting in your details but you don't have to submit if you don't want too, if you just purely want to see the final deal.

This has to be a drive for one of two things:

Decrease the amount of off-net call terminations (Cheaper to have other carriers pay you to terminate calls and cheaper when they calls remain on-net)

Or

They are driving up their customer numbers to gear up for a sale

These plans are dubious at best, historically they dont have a high retention rate of customers and end up costing far more than what they can yield out of it.

    There is no such thing as an Amaysim data only plan but you can always choose not to make any calls. Calls are logged, not all numbers are free. Obviously the premium numbers are not, nor are international ones.

  It's the normal As You Go rate. Sure it's expensive compared to data packs. But they send you SMSes and email as you approach the limit and you can always check online or by SMS and stop using data before you hit excess territory.

I am a current amaysim curtimer. I ordered a new sim due to a phone change and it still hadn't arrived. The insist on sending it to a residential address and this is inconvenient fir me.

I intend to port to Telstra then back to amaysim. Does anyone know if I can buy an amaysim sim at a retail location, be it a grocery store or some other outlet?

      Yes. You can select to keep your number,or chose a new one.
      For disposable cards to get extra/cheaper data, I don't bother what number they give me.
      When porting over i keep my number and if it's used as a second phoneline, I chose and easy to remember number.
      Doesntmatter if it's a $2 sim or a $40 starter pack.

Optus currently has a $10 special for their (normally $30) prepaid starter kits, comes with 6.5GB data and a month of unlimited calls/txts if you're looking for a new sim to port to this Amaysim deal. I ordered one yesterday, it was next day delivery. I'll use my spare to port to this deal at the end of my Optus month.

Prepaid plans?

Hi all, my understanding of the way prepaid plans work are you pay upfront and you get x amount of phone and data credit. If you use it, you recharge. But you can't use more than you've bought upfront.

The previous comments suggest that even on a prepaid plan you can go over your 2GB of data, is this correct?

If this is correct, people saying to just pay via Bpay, but how will that stop Amaysim invoicing you the extra data costs?
