I am not a rep for Vodafone but I am a customer of theirs. A friend mentioned their insane data caps to me today so I thought I'd share with the OzB community.

  • Nice find. Thanks OP

    I'll look into it

I'm actually pretty annoyed I signed up for the $40 Telstra deal now.

I've found Vodafone's customer service to be leaps and bounds better than Telstra. Their coverage and speed's around Melbourne were great too (not as good as telstra but pretty bloody close). Never had a call drop out when talking in the car etc.

This is a really good deal. Especially if you currently pay for Spotify. The 12 months of free Spotify brings the actual cost down to $54 a month over 24 months for 20GB data!

    • Telstra had 12 months Apple music for free. I just moved from Voda to Telstra, it worked out to be ~$33 a month with only 7gb. I'll never get close so I'm still happy

    • Also had the same experience in Brisbane. Vodafone seemed to be better overall in terms of receiption.

  • 24 months :/

  • Imitating optus as standard. No marks for that
    Overrated product.

What? Vodafone's network is far, FAR better than Optus.

Also their international routing doesn't suck like Optus' does.

  • Agree with customer service of Vodafone heaps better. Also agree on the coverage and speed, but I'm Brisbane. If you don't live in the mountains, I find voda and telstra quite close and in fact some areas voda outperforms telstra.

Previously voda customer and ported to telstra. After experiencing telstra's service, quite disappointed with the move. Planning to move back to voda after 12 months.

Very good inclusions if you don't need a new phone.

  • I've been with voda for 12months now in Sydney and find their 4G is extremely hit and miss… 3G Mobile and connectivity is constant and ok in almost all areas but trying to get a constant and stable 4G is suburb dependant. from what I've tested (speedtest.net) its 60/40 hit and miss (respectively)
this is my experience in sydney inner west to CBD and some eastern suburbs. Haven't tried much further out north or outer west

thinking about switching to a more reliable/coverage 4G network (optus or telstra)… Any advice or share your experience with 4G (comparisons with speedtest)
    Thanks!

I agree with your observations on voda 4g, it is hit and miss in my office (Sydney CBD) , and non existent at my home(Hills area ) so switched to Optus…. way better, and i was testing both Optus and Telstra before making the switch, Telstra is not as good as Optus in my case… Sydney CBD north… M2…Hills..

It's such a fickle thing, some people even say Telstra are horrible even though their coverage & speeds are a lot better overall. Just depends on the towers & congestion near where you are.

What I find best is to grab a prepaid SIM of each provider (should be $20-30 tops) and then do speed testing at home, parents, shops - wherever you'll use the net most.

Before you commit thousands of dollars makes sense to do an hour or two of testing to make sure you're getting the best provider for your specific needs.

  • That is pretty good deal but 24months contract :\
Looks like 2016 will be the year of mobile data wars.

  • Why would you want to join a 2 years contract without a phone?

    • That is what I said to myself too, I rather have 2 years contract with a phone on hand at least but guess the trade off is that you get more "value" out of it in terms of extra data allowance?

      • Yeh, and they are giving out more and more data every few months too - back in June, you need to pay $50 to get 3GB of data (except there was a popular promotion to bring it down to $35). Now you can get 3GB on an $40 BYO plan (in fact you can get it down to $30 if you talk to them).

  • Can i add this plan to my ow number or do i need a new one?
