Logitech Z213 2.1 Speakers for $19 @Officeworks

840

Hi guys,

I was after some cheap simple computer speakers and found Officeworks selling these for only $19.

I was able to get JB Hifi to pricematch (Westfield Sydney) as they were a bit closer to me.

Not the greatest speakers obviously, but for the price I think they should be good.

Sorry I am unsure how long they are selling at this price for, but I got a feeling the price was reduced due to JB Hifi doing the 40% off logitech speakers last weekend.

Thanks grabbed a pair for the backyard

  • Looks like people strongly disagree with my opinion of this product!

At the risk of further negs, I'm going to double down on my advice not to buy these. They are horribly underpowered, and there are better options for not much more money at MSY.

From website: "14 watts of peak power"

From wikipedia: "Peak power here refers to the maximum amount of power an electronic component can possibly handle for an instant without damage. … but the harmonic distortion level might be 10 percent under those conditions"

Checkout this link for more alternative options: http://cl.ly/dwQX

I agree its a good price for this model… just that this model is terrible!

      • Sounds like people can also just these as $19 paper weight.

      • It's ok I only watch porn on low volume anyway =p

        • +1

Hmm, because you will finish too early if you watch on high volume.

Bought them for 24 bucks from OW a couple or months ago and they've been solid for my desktop :)

  • Any deals on 2.0 speakers?

    • +1

Just sell one on Gumtree or there are these crappy 2Watts - 8Ware USB Powered Compact Computer Speaker $14.95

Just Bought One. Good to have in this price. Never know when you need it or Gift :)

    • +4

OP's like it when you vote, to say thanks.

    • All these under $20 deals are perfect gifts for my son to bring for his B'day parties invitations from his school mates! And looks good with such a BIG box too.

Last time these were discussed the low wattage was brought up. That being said, for the pc they're fine. I have these

  • Thank you for posting.

"You get more mileage from a cheap pair of speakers."

Dare I say more? Yes; 14W is quite sufficient (and no distortion … Or ear damage too) for computer speakers.

    Great find!

    • You've been dying to sneak that line in for ages, right?

  • I have the LS21, which I believe is the model that this replaces. It still looks remarkably similar. I bought mine for $20 as well, maybe 6 years ago.

Anyway, I know it's not the most powerful but for the intended use of PC speakers, they're more than adequate. Perfectly capable of watching movies and gaming on them (if 7.1 surround isn't an issue). The only reason I would ever get rid of them is if they die on me.

  • Testing these yesterday at JB they sounded fine, but at max volume they aren't loud. I ended up moving a step up to the Z523 which were $47 yesterday.

I have these. Yeah OK for your computer. But if you thinking of using them for music when you're more than 5 meters from them then forget it.

Considering their size I thought they'd have some power but was bitterly disappointed.

    Save your money.

I used to have 2 of these (emphasis "used to").

They were really good at first, especially for the price, but after 6 months to 1 year, the sound started cracking, the speakers would buzz when left plugged in for too long (only way to stop would be to turn off power at the power point), the volume knob wouldn't work properly, etc.

Just a heads up, my experience might be isolated, but that's why i got rid of them.

These will work wonders on my MAME tabletop arcade cabinet I am building to run MAME. I don't want decent speakers for that in order to ensure that retro feel.

The .1 speaker will end up being ditched but the 2.0's are just what I need.

    • I was thinking of getting the Creative A60 speakers for my Commodore Amiga 1200.. They kind of look like the typical old school speakers :)
      $20 at MSY

      http://d287ku8w5owj51.cloudfront.net/images/products/large/p…

      • They look ok. I won't see my speakers as they are in a cabinet behind the marquee so I am not fussed what they look like as long as they are cheap to buy and give off that old 8 bit feel.

        • Creative A60 @ 2 Watts RMS per channel

Logitech z213 (Satellites only) @ 1.5 Watts RMS per channel.

    • That's awesome. Keep us posted on your MAME build. I have always wanted to do something like that.

I bought these about 2 years ago for about $15 and they are still working fine. No problems or crackling at all. I've been using them heavily for Fallout 4 since launch and they are doing the job perfectly well. Don't expect high-end sound but they don't sound cheapo either.

  • I bought mine from Jb for $20.40, didn't realize OW was selling em for even cheaper :O

  • On a serious note though, would you guys recommend these for work?

I work in an office, sometimes on the weekends when no one is around, so would they be good just listening to music on your desk?

    • For work they are fine. But don't expect too much. Don't buy them for home, though. They are rubbish if you turn it up a bit (and I don't mean very loud).

    • Yes. If it's only you, then they'll be loud enough. Cheap option for you

I've had nothing but bad experiences with Logitech speakers. Better to buy a 2nd hand HT amp for $50 and a pair of decent stereo speakers.

  • +1

I've had these for a couple of years, cheap and cheerful, can't complain, easy entertainment option for parties as well.

  • Didn't have any speakers, got a pair of these a few months back. Gonna get another pair because they're more than adequate

    • Price is $37

      • I got it still marked as 19$ on shelf. Immediately after my sale they changed it back to regular price
