Oregon Weather@Home BAR218HG $60.88 @ Dick Smith

110

I've been bargain hunting for one of these weather stations for a Christmas present, plus to replace an old Oregon unit at home. Normally $99.95 at DSE (it was that price on the weekend). Available for click and collect, but good luck finding stock in store. The only store I could find with stock in Sunshine Coast and Brisbane regions was Logan.

Includes - Main Unit, sensor and batteries. Has bluetooth, can track on your phone via an app.

Currently $99.95 @ Australian Geographic http://shop.australiangeographic.com.au/oregon-scientific-we…,
$119.90 @ Oregon Scientific online store http://store.oregonscientific.com/au/weatherathome-wireless-….

Delivery for one unit was $9.95, for two was $11.95 (to Sunshine Coast).

The other smaller & less featured models are also discounted at DSE:
RAR213HG $49.29 - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/home-appliances/oregon-weatherat…
EMR211 $37.71 - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/home-appliances/oregon-weatherat…

  • Its a neat little station. I got mine from DSE eBay using a voucher, back in October.

It fills the gap between normal stations, and the full on PC connected ones. All I wanted was one I could view the last weeks temps on a graph, and this fits the bill perfectly.

  • I noticed something similar in Kmart this morning for 19$ marked down from $50 odd. However I'd doubt it is of the same quality. Or if it had the same feature set (Bluetooth) and precise level of measurement…

  • Keep in mind this, http://www.oo.com.au/Oregon-Scientific-RAR213HG-Wea_P251832.… comes with bluetooth as well :)

  • +1

    NO STOCK

  • I bought the BAR218 at a similar DSE sale several months ago, and the RAR213 for the folks. In retrospect I would have been just as happy with the 213 as the unit is not as large and the readout actually clearer (less cluttered and I never use the forecast or moon phase section. Otherwise, from what I can tell, their function is the same). Fantastic prices, great units.

  • Are the EMR211 and RAR213 both indoor temp only, unless you buy an optional outdoor weather sensor ?

    • Refer to the DSE site, says both come with an outdoor unit, you call tell by the pictures what information each display.

      • DSE specifically mentions 1 outdoor sensor is included with the RAR213, but does not specify that any are included with the EMR211, so I was not 100% sure.

      • FYI these are still on special today - a few $ more than yesterday, but still good prices.

        • use the $10 off code to bring it down to $57

  • I see it comes with a remote sensor unit.

Is there another temp/humidity sensor built into the base unit as well?

ie can you put the remote sensor unit outdoors (for outdoor temp), and it will also tell you the indoor temp as well?

    • +1

Yes, the main base unit has a sensor built in for the indoor temp. The remote sensor that comes with the unit is for use outdoors.

      • Brilliant. Thanks!

  • Just ordered the little EMR211 unit - click n collect (saves $10 delivery fee) from my local DS store, as its only 5 mins from home.

    • Apologies - this comment should not have been a reply …

Prices today are reduced from the normal prices, but not as good as yesterday's until you apply the discount code. In my case buying 2 x 218 units (plus delivery) yesterday worked out better. Today's prices:

      BAR218HG - $67.49
      RAR213HG - $54.59
      EMR211 - $41.68

  • Also can use the $10 off Code today to bring it down to $57.49 Click and Collect

  • What's this $10 off code you speak of?

  • One ThermoPlus left at DSE Rockdale

  • These are now $15, $20, and $25 - I bought the upgraded model for $20 and did a price protection claim on my credit card for the $24 price difference on the entry level model I had paid $39 for.
If approved, it gives me 2 units (the 211 and 213) for a total of $35 (with an RRP of $158)

    • Thankfully, my credit card company refunded me the $24 price drop on the EMR211 - so altho my tax invoice says $39, my real cost is $15. And $20 for a RAR213.

  • no stock of any of the models in Melbournre
