Surely no one on ozbargain actually flies Qantas, given they are never the cheapest.

Generally agree, but not everyone has a choice. Some airports are QF or VA only.

i.e. In Canberra. VA is often cheaper, but not always. Also depends on an international connection sometimes

      • VA cancelled a flight on me 10pm at night for a 5am flight lol.

sounds to me like sooooomeeee one has a low amount of QFF points

Probably worth adding something to indicate you're referring to flights to differentiate it from other forms of points earn (hotel bookings, shopping at Woolies until 31/12, searching with Qantas toolbar)

Not bad, but probably not a differentiating factor between flying different airlines.

    • Good call, updated.

Agree. A few extra 1000 points generally not worth the price difference. But if you're flying QF anyways….

Thanks OP. I'm flying QFF tomorrow morning

flights have to have been booked after 30 Nov to be eligible.

Pretty simple, register and then make a booking before 25 December. Travel before 31 January.

So basically you get triple the points when you pay 2-3 times more than when you fly most other times of the year…

    • Thanks jv. As I said, Jetstar and Tiger don't fly everywhere.

If it's a VA/QF only destination such as canberra there is often no or little difference in the fares. This helps some

        This helps some

        Politicians ???

        • +7

Correct JV. Only politicians fly to Canberra. This entire post was just for them.

    • so by your way of thinking, why buy a samsung or apple phone when you can get a $50 one that has the exact same calls and texts function?

its like when people get a $50 MELPER flight on tiger and then complain that they dont get the same service as flying business class on virgin or qantas.

cheapest doesnt always represent a bargain.

      • I didn't mention phones.

        • its ok to get it wrong sometimes, just admit it.

      Ah… The good old days…. NOT….

  • Did this work for anyone? I registered and then booked flights but I've only been credited the normal amount of points.

    • email them here with the details. [email protected]

When I've registered for promos the bonus points or status credits usually show up a fair bit later
