hows this compare to the bes870?

    • my parents have the bes870
      i am using the em6910
em6910 produces a fuller espresso shot
and the steam is not as "wet" as the bes870
      (wet steam dillutes the milk)
machine is 7 years old and still going strong
have only had to replace group head seal and filter
      once ever since.

  • I would avoid a sunbeam and purchase a Breville.

I have owned two of this model sunbeam machine and both have had build quality issues. Repair quality is also very bad.
But it does make a good coffee.

Freinds with the breville are more than happy.

  • From personal experience - This makes much better shots than the Brevilles I have tried but the Brevilles win hands down on Milk texturisation.

Had mixed experiences on Quality for both Breville and Sunbeam and it seems to be luck of the draw on how well various machines of friends and family have stood up to the test of time.

I've had my EM6910 for almost 6 years now and use it daily and it still smashes the coffee shots - I only drink black coffee these days so that's what I'm concerned about.

The Grinder is more meh - their newer model is more consistent and less messy.

  • My vote - I prefer Sunbeam espresso machines, and Breville grinders….

Had what I believe is an older version of this same kit - the grinder did the job but was very messy (and is replaced now by a Breville Smart Grinder, which is awesome), and the coffee machine made a decent cup for the price, but I quickly upgraded to something a bit larger.

But for the price, it'll make a good cup, and get you on your way to being a coffee snob…. JUST DON'T BUY BEANS FROM THE SUPERMARKET!

  • The grinder in this combo is pretty average. Replaced it with a Breville Smart grinder and that made all the difference. That combo is good, however the 6910 is now in for repair after just 14 months light use and has been for 2.5 months.

If you can stretch to the Breville BES920 you wouldn't be sorry. Or go down to the BES 810 combo for just over $300.

Anyway that sale is finished now.
