ASUS UX303UB $1339 [13.3, i7, 8GB RAM + 256GB SSD] Free C&C or +Ship @ DickSmith

XMAS100

The UX303LB (older Broadwell version) is still selling for $1600+
Beautiful laptop if you get one without any quality control issues. If you do C&C, OPEN the laptop In-store in case there's any lid alignment issues (my first UX303LB's was not centered)

FWIW, I have the LB (Broadwell) version of this laptop, the hinge has made funny noises but at the moment it hasn't split on me yet. If you are thinking of extended warranty (don't want to fight for ACL rights after 2 years), do NOT buy it from DSE.
Also, DSE requires you to purchase extended warranty within 14 days of purchase, while the ASUS website allows you to purchase extended warranty while your laptop is still in warranty (12 months for this laptop)
Also, upgrading the RAM is a piece of cake, there are guides on the internet for replacing the SSD as well (from memory you need to unscrew mounts holding the battery for the SSD replacement).
DSE Warranty Pricing: 2 years extended $120
DSE Warranty Pricing: 4 years extended $175
ASUS Extended warranty
ASUS Local Warranty Extension 1 Year for NoteBook (for Standard 1 Year Warranty Model) - AU$ 69.00
ASUS Local Warranty Extension 2 Years for NoteBook (for Standard 1 Year Warranty Model) - AU$ 99.00
And for those travellers out there, there's extended warranty
ASUS International Warranty Extension 1 Year for NoteBook (for Standard 1 Year Warranty Model) - AU$ 99.00
ASUS International Warranty Extension 2 Years for NoteBook (for Standard 1 Year Warranty Model) - AU$ 149.00

Good Laptop. It was around $1100 in previous deals.

Source? I believe that's the UX303LA, the i5, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD variant, lowest that's been was $919, and that's the haswell i5 from memory. This is the i7 [skylake] with 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD + 940M GPU.

I don't think it was that low @ dse.. I agree, was diff model..

Don't have details but it was back in Aug/Sept not with skylake though.

      • +1

yes its so not same model duh! Skylake a way better/newer more efficient processor which doesn't compare. I'm sure the 1100 back then was in anticipation of the newer model skylakes hitting stores hence the price reduction.

  • wow, such a nice laptop. 13" with 1080p

  • Was seriously thinking about buying this laptop, but after seeing all the complaints and photos on the hinge issue, I'm too worried to buy this laptop now….

    • +1

It happened very frequently with the Haswell versions of this laptop. This is the Skylake version (3rd release of the same laptop with upgraded internals), there's always warranty. For this price, you won't get any better specs

I'm too worried to buy this laptop now….

Just buy 2 year extended warranty directly from the ASUS website at the 11th month for $99 if the hinge starts to become loose I guess. I had the same mindset as you as well, but nothing else comes close to this laptop for an ultrabook and it's price, not to mention its ease of disassembly to upgrade components yourself (apart from the hinge)

  • Already says out of stock!

  • Is there soldered ram + a sodimm slot? I have the older ux32vd which had 2GB soldered and an upgradable sodimm which allowed for a total of 10GB of ram.
Is the SSD m.2? The ux32vd had an msata kit in a standard 7mm 2.5 inch caddy.

    Andddd it's gone! Sold out.

Yep, I replaced the SODIMM slot (mine had a 4gb stick in there already) with a 8GB, bringing the total to 12GB.

Is the SSD m.2? The ux32vd had an msata kit in a standard 7mm 2.5 inch caddy.

Yes and no, it's a half-height mSATA SSD slot, mSATA mini
The only SSD I've found for it is this: http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/mydigitalssd-128gb-super-ca…

There's almost no other manufacturers for this form factor :(
With the price of that mSATA mini SSD and NO competition, and the current SSD deals going on I think it would be easier just to replace the main SSD and leave the mSATA mini alone
