  • It seems a good deal. How long will the warranty last?

    • -1

Normal 12 months…it's a Sony no warranty required.

Unfortunately, like all of the major TV manufacturers, Sony only offers a 1 year warranty. The consumer law should cover it for a bit longer, but I wouldn't rely on it.

Off-topic on the deal, but I had an … experience … with Sony regarding a 55 inch Bravia, purchased in 2011. It died suddenly in November 2013. It was not a primary TV so had seen limited use. I consulted the ACCC for the best way to approach this as Sony initially wanted me to pay to have it assessed and then if found defective they would replace the parts and I would cover the labour. Not good enough when you consider I have a 40 inch Bravia going strong since 2007. I would expect that a TV would last at least 5 years. They also tried to offer me "discounts" on new TVs - discounts that I could beat on Google.

Moving forward, by mid 2014 or so the panel had been replaced, with no outlay by me at all - repairman came to the home. According to the repairman the part was worth $2.5k (so as much as a replacement TV) but Sony did not have any TVs in stock and opted to repair it instead of replacing it. Anyway, consumer law is definitely your friend.

I'm tempted by this as I'm in the market for a PS4 + Bloodborne + 40 inch UHD … but I want the 1 TB and don't think a 49 inch will fit on the desk!

and don't think a 49 inch will fit on the desk!

          Make it fit…

        • @nocure: I suppose with all that 4k real estate at a useful PPI, no need for a second monitor for the desktop, right?

        • @csm101:
Correct..might have to move your chair back a bit :)

As of today, it's a good deal. Not to put you off, combined with the David Jones deal from yest with cash rewards, this model was at $1213.. And add a ps4 from big w in two days time for $368, it's cheaper than this combined offer from Sony.

    • Agreed.

    • +1

are you sure it was the same model TV?
DJs has a price tag of $1899 for that TV now so 15% off that would have been $1614 - unless they jacked the listed price up (from $1427 to $1899)

      • +1

They had a discounted price of $1599 yest plus an additional 15% off yest. No more !

        • +1

          ok cool thanks
so that made it $1359.15 with the 15% off plus if you buy $368 ps4 (assuming free shipping?) = $1727, so this deal is actually slightly cheaper for both

or sell the ps4 from this deal for $368 = $1331, makes this deal $28.15 cheaper than the DJs one

          ozb special !!!!!!

Check that. $1599 could be wrong. My bad

  • Was cheaper previously. Price hike to pay for the PS4.

  • yes as shown above, $339.85 cheaper
so you are essentially getting the ps4 for $339.85, which you could sell
