Sony Waterproof MP3 Player $83 - Harvey Norman

50

Harvey Norman have Sony 4gb waterproof Walkman on sale for $83 until 17/12, normally $119.
I bought a pair today to replace the cheap waterproof MP3 player I bought off EBay a couple of years ago.
I use them for swimming laps in the pool, they take the edge off the boredom.
They are a little bit quiet but they are comfortable and I did a 40 min swim in them today with no issues.

  • I got a pair a few weeks ago for running and they are pretty good although one of the speakers went really quiet but has now fixed itself.
I hadn't used in ear style for running before and I wouldn't reccomend the if you cross a lot of roads and they block out most background noise. The bonus to this is they are great for mowing the lawn.

they are great for mowing the lawn.

      so a noise reducing headphones…

      • These are noise isolating earphones. I got a set last time they were on special at Dick Smith. Good mp3 player combo but it's not possible to fast forward (the function does not exist). Sound quality is reasonable.

          These are noise isolating earphones.

I know, but for mowing the lawm, noise reducing headphones are much more effective.
I got some earlier in the year and they are fantastic for reducing the constant hum of the engine.

Why do you swim laps if you find it boring ?

    • Exercise?

You're much better of doing a different type of exercise that you don't find boring.

It will increase the chances that you stick to it for the long term.

You mean like swimming laps with waterproof headphones?

          @gilbarc:

I'm referring to the OP who said they find swimming laps boring…

          I find it boring too… I prefer to go for a 5km run…

          FTFY

@jv: It's highly unlikely you're going on 5km runs when you're spending so much time writing cynical rubbish on here. There are multiple reasons why a person would swim instead of run. For example, due to years of rugby, my ankles can no longer handle the constant thudding on pavement or grass. So swimming is a great way to increase heart rate with no strain on my joints. Yes it can get boring, that is why he got the headphones.

    That price is nothing special.
These (originally) retailed for $100. I got my first pair in 2013 duty free for $90. Approx a year later they got chewed out by my dog, so I bought a second pair Nov 2014 for $71 through Dick Smith (through a sale).

    Absolutely love these, recommended.

    • I remember getting them back in 2010 for about $99 (maybe 2GB). Good that they made them waterproof, found they sat loose in my ears though and would fall out with sweat. Also didn't last much more than 12 months (then neither do the shuffles I buy). If it was $20 less than that would be tempted to buy and try again. Fingers crossed they will be cleared out boxing day sales.

Got these for $54 delivered from DS about a year ago. Love them! Originally bought them for swimming laps but I keep them in my bag as a spare music player as I don't swim that often anymore.
