Wait what, EB shouldnt be giving you cash, did something change?

      • +1

I've been getting cash from EB Games for trade-ins for at least 6 years.

:EDIT: My 2nd last trade was my PS4 copy of Fallout 4. They take 20% off the trade-in for cash. Here is the receipt.

        • +1

You're better off taking the store credit. 20% off for cash is a bit steep.

      • +1

EB give cash in NSW (maybe other states too, but it's less than store credit value)

    • +4

You went to the trouble of doing all these purchases and then trade-ins and afterwards bought cinema popcorn

I have no sympathy for you, that is a horrible decision.

      • My cinema has a strict no BYO policy.

        • +2

That's why you make your missus bring her XXL handbag.

        • +1

@infinite: hahaha here's ur OZB gold badge! :)

    • -1

      Get more selling online

    • -8

I did the exactly that today

      Bought $44 worth of games, (21 discs) on 360 & ps3 @ JB
Traded them at EB games for $131.16

      Tidy profit $87.16 :)

Galleries Sydney is right next door, so its great

Paid off some pre-orders and got me some xbox credit
      Happy days :)

Just be warned if you try to trade multiple copies of the same title, you may (will) be rejected
You can go back any trade those at the same store in another transaction later in the day

      • +7

        Ouch.
That would explain the complete lack of options as I stand in front of the shelf in The Galleries. Don't agree with what you're doing at all in terms of the Ozbargain community ethos, but each to their own I suppose.

        • -4

Hey I didn't wipe it out, i only picked up a few of the dollar games.
Most of the good stuff was gone and I went at lunch today, almost 24 hours AFTER the post went live.

I just commented that the galleries had JB & EB close by.
I went to World Square too :P

Bit of effort and you can still grab stuff

        • +2

@Robydc: Hmmmmm 21 discs seems like more than a few games and there is currently none left so I wouldn't say my comment was completely unfair. Just so we're clear I didn't neg, I'd just be of the mindset if 21 people could get a $1-$3 game that's better than one person buying 21 and selling them on for profit.

        • @Jnarod: No prob, and thanks for your honesty.
Just to let you know that Leichhardt JB had plenty of stock, I picked up some games that I actually wanted, not trade bait.

        • What is that ethos? Get as good a deal as possible and that is what he did. That is the ethos, at least for most people here. They are just not as outspoken and straighforward as Robydc who needs to be commended for his or her honesty.
I personally don't like it or agree with it but certainly Ozbargain is not the modern version of King Arthur's table where people act out of honesty and honour. Here, with a few exceptions I had the good luck to come across, many people just look after number 1 - themselves. And again, that is not a judgment but merely an observation. There certainly is no ethos other than looking for the best bargain possible.

        • @Lysander: I disagree with you. Although the community may have evolved to a state where the majority are just looking out for themselves there are still many members looking to spot a bargain for themselves, then let others know so they can grab one. Not just looking to turn a profit. Each time a really good deal is posted (without restrictions about how many can be bought) that person has taken the decision to share the bargain instead of using it to make some cash. Using this post as an example, OP could have cruised around buying up every game they could get their hands on and heading for EB.

@Robsyc - Cheers for the Leichardt heads up

        • @Jnarod:

Maybe they did but seriously this was a national sale which is pretty hard to keep secret.
But you are saying it: for me ethos is not there when people behave like you describe in case of deals where there is no restriction and limit as then the people lose nothing by sharing. However, you will find out that if there are limits and restrictions, people will not share so willingly but rather take advantage of the deal themselves.

Sharing a deal with restrictions, when you know that sharing the deal will limit your own possibility to buy one or more than one, that would be a reflection of ethos.

In other words: if you have unlimited bread, it is easy to share it and give it away but the situation is different if you only have two loaves and are asked to share that, hey?

        • I suspect we'll just have to disagree on this point.

Regarding this particular deal I think it's a great example of people working for others to help them get a bargain.

Though it was a national sale the prices were not displayed on the games and people went to the trouble of taking photos of the list to make identifying the best deals possible for people.

This kind of additional effort from Ozbargain members is the ethos I'm talking about. Others trawl through lists and product codes to help facilitate a good deal for others. These are the Ozbargainers that make this site great.

I like the bread analogy though, fair point well made and also very biblical sounding. We are straying dangerously close to debating life liberty and the pursuit of happiness so I will have to bow out now.

        • @Jnarod:

          Agreed.

      • +5

So instead of 21 games you can buy nearly two at Ebgames.

      • Seems like you are pretty hardcore gamers
bet you have huge games collection on your place

      • +1

I get upvoted yet you get downvoted. Eh.

I got 13 games for $13. Got $68 trade-in store credit. Picked up the Fallout 4 Vault Dwellers Survival Guide and pre-ordered Uncharted 4 collectors edition. I left loads at my local store (Cairns Earlville). Was tempted to do a second run but thought I'd leave it for other people. Will do it if there is any left over next week.

        • +2

Its ok man, you did well.

I traded in what I got so my kid can play Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 (when its released). Wasn't even for me

I saw guys walking out with more than me, but I put it in writing and get downvoted.. che sara

  • Got in there…..got the list to view….stuff had gone via online
Missed Metal Gear and Borderlands 2

$13 for PS3 and 360 games all mine were $1

    $89 box pack Sniper 2 RRP $89….paid $1
B4 me……Security had to check with staff they had priced correctly

  • +4

Confirmed Adelaide CBD had plenty of games as of 5pm. I saw a number of darksiders II and some of the other games. They do scan at $1 but they had to go out back to get the disc for me.

    • City trip tomorrow then! Thanks for the info!

  • 2 guys just cleaned out Melbourne cbd store just before I got there. Must have had about 60+ games easily. Grrrrr

    • which one, the one in Bourke street? was there an hour ago, i got nba 2k14 for $1 and grid 2 for $5

maybe they took it off the shelf

  • Does anyone wanna trade WWE 2K14 360 for a ps3 copy? Also did anyone grab a copy of Asura's Wrath? Willing to pay $10 for it.

  • There's an awful lot more in store than what was listed last night. One of the better $1 ones is Shadows of Mordor, it has to be the JB exclusive edition as the standard one is $30. Red Dead Redemption (normal and undead), Borderlands GOTY, and LA Noire (both normal and ultimate edition) are also some of the better games.

    • 1 dollar for rdr normam and undead?

      • Yep, sure are.

        • they were there yesterday same with shadow of mordor didnt bother to scan…

          gutted.

probably spent $60 just at jb past 2 days

  • +2

    Dont bother with Chaddy.

3 middle aged men came in and swept almost all of the $1 to $5 stock 5 minutes after I got in. Miultiple copies etc.

  • When was it? I went there at 7 and the only $1 games left are tv superstar and yoostar 2 for ps3 lol

    • big LOL lol

  • Anyone been to Jb's at Elizabeth city centre?

    If yes anything decent?

  • How much are they selling Rise of Tomb Raider 360?

    • +1

$200 and it comes with a free xbox!

      • bargain!

  • +3

Some as#hol# in the cashier of jbhifi browns plains didn't want to honor the $1 price even if that was the price when scanned and even called the manager to "correct" the price to match the one on the sticker. Even explained to me that some IT in the company was lazy to return the price in their system. I was just getting 2 games, not even hording. As#hol#. Probably running for employee of the year!

    • You only need to put the cashiers name & store on their Twitter & Facebook pages, get your friends to chip in with some harsh comments & you'll get your product at the price it should have been & they'll lose their job. Depends really on how willing you are to put in a tiny bit of effort to follow through.

I managed to order five Xbox 360 games online last night, got order confirmation email for store pickup. I just went to JB store this afternoon, been told this "there has been unexpected internet and system crash in store and might be your order is bounced back to Melbourne head office and you will soon be refunded" Grrrrr! I said i don't care about $5 refund I just need my games :) he said he will check again from Mel and give a call. Later I got a call from JB saying that due to loads of store pickup orders, system messed up unfortunately and my order will be refunded soon.

Guess I was too excited to get my order quicker from store I read last para from JB email :)

    Next Step

Please wait for your "Ready For Collection" email to confirm when your goods are ready to be picked up. The email contains important details you will need in order to collect your goods.

    Please note:

This email CANNOT be used to collect goods instore. You must wait for the follow-up "Ready for Collection" email.
Once the "Ready for Collection" email is received, the person collecting the goods must bring photo ID to the store for identification. The ID name/address must match the name/address on the order delivery/collectors details.
If you have used Credit Card as your payment type for this order, you will need to produce the card at the instore Pick-Up point for further verification.
You can check the status of any order any time by logging into your account.

I showed JB this email 200 times yet still no one in store bother to read bottom of this email. LOL

  • +1

Question, is that really a JB's system or internet crash with store pickup orders lol will my order be mine at the end? I really don't need refund I need my games :)

  • +4

People grabbing copies in store better not make online fulfilment to cancel orders. Especially those who cleaned out the stores

    • +4

Far out my one got cancelled.

Thank you for those who cleaned out the stores!

  • Just received this email from JB lol…

    Hi,

This is a courtesy email to explain what is happening with your recent JB HIFI games software order

Your order contained items that were part of a clearance activity on remanent stock that was intended to be sold in-store only, and not online. Unfortunately due to an error the clearance game stock incorrectly appeared for a short time online for purchase. Since your order was placed online, we have initiated a cancellation and refund of the following items on your order.

Medal Of Honor Warfighter (Limited Edition) | Dungeon Siege 3 | Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance | Darksiders 2 Limited Edition | Borderlands 2 | Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance | Resident Evil 6 | Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2 | Ninja Gaiden 3: Razors Edge | Xcom: Enemy Unknown | Wonderbook: Diggs Nightcrawler Bundle | DMC: Devil May Cry | Ninja Gaiden 3: Razors Edge | Deception IV: Blood Ties

The refund will be made back to your original payment method. Please allow 2-3 days for the refund to appear on your transaction history. In the event that you used a gift voucher to pay for your order, a replacement e-gift card will be issued to you via email with 2 business days.
I would like to apologise for the inconvenience this caused you, and offer you the following coupon code for 10% off your next games software purchase. This coupon is valid from 9th December 2015 until the 9th January 2016, it may be redeemed in-store or online, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

    • That's their own fault if they made the error and they should honour it. At least you're getting your money back, but it's still stupid. My order was confirmed for all of it last night, yet the only one that's been shipped apparently is Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 which was $20, so I'll probably be receiving a similar email to yours momentarily haha.

      • yeah its very inconsistent and very unprofessional…it's jb hifi so I guess it's to be expected.
I checked my order for the games and some have apparently been shipped yet i eceived this so dunno what is going on >.<

        • Yep just got the cancellation email. What a crock, they need to go through with it and if incompetence is the reason then so be it.

    • +2

If they have taken your money you can insist on getting your games. They are breaching the valid contract for purchase with you. I would refuse a refund and demand delivery within 14 days setting out the legal situation and telling them you are prepared to take the matter to the Civila nd Administrative Tribunal if you are NSW, QLD or ACT.
With that many games it is definitely worth it.

      • i'm in Vic :/
What's weird is that it seems as though they're still going ahead with my order for the xbox 360 games but not the ps3 ones…

        • They probably have a CAT as well. Google it.

My PS3 order is ready to pick up but I only ordered two games.

      • He's right.

Under consumer law in the event of a genuine pricing error before purchase the retailer has no obligation to honour it, but once a transaction is complete they have no right to do anything else to correct it as the transaction and therefore contract is now complete. They are now legally bound to deliver on their contract.

        https://www.lawanswers.com.au/blog/australian-consumer-law-r…

I'm unsure as to whether or not I will proceed on it (if I can be bothered), but just making everyone aware of it.

        • +1

Well, I studied this for 8 years so I should know the basics. ;-)
But thanks for confirming - always good to have confirmation.
I have taken various retailers to QCAT in similar situations - foregone outcome. Always got my items.

        • @Lysander:
          @Mr Lister

Thanks guys. It's annoying but I doubt ill take it further…can't stand having to deal with jb hifi when it comes to contesting crap :/
Games were only $1, im sure there'll be some in store…i hope :P

        • @Lysander: I just emailed Consumer Affairs Victoria about it, so should hear a response soon. Damn it I am going to get those cheap games.

        • @Mr Lister:

The problem with any Consumer Affairs in this country is that they are toothless tigers. They have no enforcement powers other than going to court themselves and they will only do it if many people complain.

          Your best bet is to:

          1. Ask JB Hifi to deliver up. Maybe include some basic contract law from a law book (uni library) in the letter and tell them that you are prepared to go to the Civil and Administrative Tribunal over it as you are well aware of your rights and the law.
Sometimes that helps. It should if they have lawyers of average intelligence.

Otherwise, go to the CAT and leave with the good feeling of having won against a big company after they settle.

        • +1

@Lysander: hey mate thanks for those advices today, I went to JB this afternoon once again and spoke to manager and let him know of what the law says here and that you just can't refund my order without asking saying I was a glitch and that JB must follow the contract and should sell those games to me; they understands the mistake I believe and gave me a choice to select any game between $5-$10 range and reduced those to $1. Not what I wanted thou :( but I guess better then nothing + 10% discount voucher. Thanks again!! Better then nothing.

        • Halo Reach $1
          Battlefield 4 $1
          Call of Duty Ghosts $1
          Dead Island Riptide $1
          Homefront $1

Guys!!! are these games worth playing?

        • @wisiwuget:

No problem. Glad you got something out of it.

        • @Lysander: yup!!

      • What can you do in NSW? Would like to know if you can refuse refund and insist to get the games?

        • Yes, you can provided payment has been taken.

          Look at the NCAT website.

Here is how it works at QCAT and I suppose NCAT will be very similar if not identical.

Sent you a PM with how procedure works in QLD with QCAT.

    • +1

Pretty bad it took till 9 PM to get these out

I was near a JB and saw some games in stock but didnt buy them because i had them coming on order and if JB sent an email out sooner i would have got them in store

Looks like ill get the Big W ps4 pack over JBs for this BS

  • +2

I think someone cleaned out JB Hifi in Malaga WA. Picked up SSX and Castlevania for $1ea and Assassins Creed for $9.

    http://imgur.com/y9I2jhq

    http://imgur.com/qVbAKbA

    • Thanks for that. I was going to head in to that store tomorrow morning, but I won't bother now.

    • Assassins Creed for $9- i think the one are claremont is selling at 5 bucks or 10.

  • +1

How's Frankston? Is it all cleared out there yet? Might get there early tomorrow and snag a few I didn't already get online if it isn't (oh who am I kidding I won't get up that early.

  • Anyone been to Broadbeach, QLD?

  • Are these games marked as $1 or do you have to take them to the counter? THe jb i went to had nothing marked for $1 at all. Cheapest game was $10.

    • +1

      Some stores have

      • I looked for the titles listed in the description of this deal and there were none there so perhaps it was cleaned out. They had heaps of games though, none said $1.00 however. Might check again tomorrow.

        • You can find most of these in the clearance bins

        • @bargin193232222: OK clearly this JB sucks, the only clearance bin they have is for preowned games

        • @diyguitarpedals:

they are on the shelf and not marked .. some are some are not check the list

        • @vid_ghost: Thanks for the clarification guys, heres what I got:

          Hope it helps!

        • @diyguitarpedals:
Which store did you get Fist of North Star 2? Is yours the last copy?

    • yes same here in my local JB

  • +2

Is JB kidding me? a 10% voucher valid for a month that I'm not going to use. Wow, what a pathetic response. Maybe if they applied that 10% to the part of my order actually went through, that would be an appropriate response. Who do I complain to? As they make it perfectly clear that the email they used is a burner and they won't be monitoring it.

    • +3

Could i have the voucher pls if u not using.

  • Wasn't much in the Adelaide store when I went at about 4 yesterday afternoon.

Managed to nab a copy of stick of truth for $10.

Hoping some of the suburban stores haven't been cleared out yet!

  • +4

Hi guys! Same here… This is a complete BS, just received JB's cancellation email saying sorry we can't process your order bla bla bla :( and you will have your $5 refunded against five games. I am based at Sydney and will visit North Syd store sometime this afternoon and will fight for my games. Otherwise will definitely approch ombudsman agency. My son was really excited and waiting for those games we ordered online together. JB and DSE are all same with no customer eithics at all.

    • +1

      Same here, canceled my order
but only canceled part of it, i have requested the entire order be canceled, CBF and its no big loss, but yeah a bit annoying.

  • +1

Still heaps of $1 games for Xbox, PS3 and borderlands pre sequel at Camberwell Vic

    • They have a lot of Medal of Honor Warfighter.

  • Same thing happened to me no God of War 3 for me:(

  • I haven't had my online order cancelled yet. Only got borderlands 2 and a ten dollar game. Fingers crossed.

  • +1

TIP: For those in Sydney, you should be heading to JB Castle Hill (Home Hub). Still plenty of stock and great selection of games.

    • Thanks for that I will have a look definitely.

    • +1

      I will on Sunday, $2.50 fare. :P

    • -1

I was there on tuesday. It wasn't that great… Not much stock there to begin with.

      • You're not looking hard enough then. I picked up 15 xbox 360 games all up and there was still a lot left yesterday

    • anyone been there today, is there much PS3 games left?

  • JB at World Square NSW

    PS3:
    XCOM $1
    Air Conflicts Vietnam $1
Some motorcycle bad boy nightmare action game $1

    X360:
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City $5
    WWE vs Smackdown $1

    Not much really.

    Darksiders 2 was still $20.
    Destiny $20

  • +2

Went to JB in Brunswick VIC at Barkly Square. wound up getting 20 Xbox 360 games. Only one of each so other could have their share! Plenty left and I'm sure PS3 is still the same. Most were price tagged at $1 with a few not though so the list came in handy.
