TheGoodGuys - Miele C3 Allergy Vacuum- $399 (C&C) (Includes 3yrs Concierge, $50 Store Credit & $100 Eftpos Card)

120

Missed out on this deal (C3 cat and dog) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/222068 but need a vacuum =)
Myer had C3 All Rounder for $379 on Monday with free 4 pack of bags, but now back to full price.

Best I can find, and its not even on special, is Miele Complete C3 Allergy from TGG for $399. All C3's are the same, apart from colour, brushes and filters as far as I can tell.

All Rounder is most basic of C3s. Miele Complete C3 Allergy is not even listed on Miele's website. Had to call TGG to find out what it was.
Looks to be the same as All Rounder but with HEPA filer (don't have a filter model, but cheapest start from $29+) and red in colour.

What makes it a good deal (applies to all vacuums at the moment from TGG) are the bonus offers:
1. Order online and get $50 store credit
2. Buy a vac + Concierge service and get $100 eftpos card. Concierge is $69 for 3 years or $89 for 4 years of warranty support (standard Miele is 2. Concierge is the total warranty, so really only 1 or 2 extra years on top of manufacture's warranty).

So…
$399 for vacuum + $69 for extra warranty - $50 store credit (will use to buy big pack of bags for $29 extra) - $100 eftpos = $318 for the vac alone.

If you think its not a good deal for C3, then I am at loss.

PS: Just called TGG to confirm that they have stock. Asked about the specs. Confirmed again - same as All Rounder but with better filter.
2000W, 11m reach

Not sure what the appeal of these is, given that you can get a bagless vacuum for the same price.
Miele was the choice for vacuums in the 90's, but right now I don't see the appeal of having to spend a fortune on bags all the time. Not to mention the loss of suction when the bag gets full. Speaking as someone who has used these ones a lot.

One to each own. I have a bagless at the moment and I hate that I have to handle dust all the time when cleaning it out.
Some people change to bagless and some FROM bagless.
Also, getting it for the silence. I was thinking either this or Electrolux ultrasilencer, but better reviews for Miele

      • I don't have to handle dust when I empty my Dyson. It's an easier and cleaner job than changing the bag in a Miele.
In the rare case that the vacuum cleaner sucks something up it should have, it is much easier to get it out of the large transparent container of a Dyson than having to get it out of a bag through the tiny opening.

          That's bollocks.

I went from bagged to bagless because I thought it would be better for the same reason as you, but then went back to bagged and couldn't be happier. Grass always greener.

When you empty the dyson, you will be handling dust no matter what. When you open the lid, dust will get caught on the bottom of the lid, and then a cloud of fine dust will rise up, or get onto your clothes. There's really no clean way of emptying it unless you have a tall but empty bin and you shake the can. It will still rise up but you can get out of the way.

Dust clings to that bowl, and there's nothing you can do about it. If you shake it, you'll kick up dust everywhere. Compare this to a bagged vac where all you have to do is unclip the bag and dispose of it. No dust escapes the bag.

The last major problem with the dyson is the small size of the dust bowl. That line which says MAX… is very low on the bowl. If you exceed that line, the dust will clump up and won't be able to spin anymore, and you have to empty it. Yeah that's a major problem, because even though you have more empty space in the dust bowl, the dust will clump up and exceed the MAX line, and you can't make use of the remaining space.

When I got my C3 C&D last week and vacuumed my living room, the amount of dust sucked up would have required me to empty the dyson more than 10 times. The 5L bag in the Miele happily took it all.

When I cleaned up my bedroom (not living room) a few months ago to change a bed, I ended up emptying the dyson about 10 times. Each time I emptied it, it wasn't a lot of dust. That's just how little the dyson bowl can store.

I will never recommend a dyson or any other bagless vacuum to anyone after my 3 years with it. The suction was great, but the bagless design is just impractical. It would be nice if it could hold more dust before you have to empty it, but this was a joke.

        • @lostn:
Oh god i was in so much pain reading those first few paragraphs.
My mum bought an electrolux bagless because she thought it would be good.
But this one loses suction so quickly…
Long story short, i was remembering the times i had to empty that thing and i could relate to everything you wrote about the unavoidable dust which was just a constant blow to the face…

        • @Hirolol: Yeah there's no way the hassle and uncleanliness of emptying a bagless is worth a saving of $10-20 a year in consumables. In the case of the dyson, it's not just that you get dirty when you do it, you have to do it a lot more often, as opposed to once every few months.

I have no idea how much your electrolux can hold before filling up. The dyson is very small capacity.

        • @lostn: Dyson is not electrolux. The bagless ones which rely on filters only are very bad. I personally do not find the Dyson "dirty" at all, and have horrible memories of having to carefully remove bags full of dust out of a Miele. The inside of the Miele would be covered in dust. I think it's a bit misleading to imply that somehow a Miele is so much cleaner.

        • @lostn: I don't get dirty doing it. I open the bin, shake the dust out at arms lengths, close the bin. Done. And as for cleanliness: leaving dirt you sucked up inside a vacuum cleaner for months is not my definition of clean or hygienic.

cost of replacement bags is the least important consideration given there is less dust to deal with when emptying a vacuum cleaner and bagged cleaners are more reliable. bags aren't that expensive if you buy them off ebay and one should only need to use a few bags a year.

      • Few bags a year? Seriously? These things aren't meant to be emptied and reused you know…
I empty my vacuum cleaner straight in the bin outside. No dust problems.
As for reliability: Dyson's last a very long time. And maintain suction. I couldn't stand how a Miele only had sunction when the bag was empty.

Sounds like you enjoy breathing dust in…
Some of us cant handle it.

    • +1

I threw out my Dyson for a Miele C3 Dog. It's so much better.

      • I gave my DC37 to my brother for the C&D. I'm so much happier with it.

I just wish these things didn't cost so much.

    • The bags are not that expensive. $20 on ebay gets you a 4 pack of 5L bags with 2 filters. For the average person they are supposed to last 6 months a bag, so $10 a year.

Of course your mileage will vary depending on the size of your house, how many people live in it, whether you have pets or children, and so on..

  • Any good deals for bag less vacuum

  • Just a thing to note, a 4 pack of bags comes with 2 filters, but they are standard filters. If you want HEPA filters you have to buy them separately (costs about the same as a 4 pack of bags, if not more). If you're going to buy the HEPA filters, then the two filters you get with the bags are going to waste. If you use those, you won't be taking advantage of HEPA filters..

You can't buy bags with HEPA filters in them, nor can you buy bags without filters.

    They get you either way.

    • I don't know about Miele, but the small filters that you get with the bags, go to the pre-filter on electrolux. Hepa filter is the one that air leaves the vacuum.

I saw that someone changed the title. I think it should be re-worded, as it seems that $399 is what you pay AFTER all the bonuses, but it comes down to $318. For some reason I cannot change it

      • For the Miele there are two types of filters. The thin one you cut yourself, and the slab. You get 2 slabs in each pack of boxes.

There are no bag packs that contain any filters beyond the basic ones. If you want to buy HEPA filters, the basic ones with each bag pack are being wasted.

      • Are you saying that if i go in now and buy this vacuum i will be paying $318 or do i get a $50 store credit to use afterwards and $100 prepaid eftos card that i need to claim later on?

        • You pay $468 up front, then spend the store credit and EFTPOS cards later.

        • @lostn:
          Ok
Can the store credit and $100 eftos card be combined if you wanted to buy something later on?

All C3's are the same, apart from colour, brushes and filters as far as I can tell.

The difference between Allergy and C&D is the C&D comes with a comfort handle, and two extra attachments (Turbo Brush, Mini Turbobrush) which sold separately are expensive. Also the included filter is different. The C&D has anti odour filter, Allergy has HEPA filter.

The C3 Comfort Electro which retails for $1199 has an Electrobrush which is even stronger because it's electrically powered. You also have +/- and on/off controls on the comfort handle. Personally I feel this could have been added to the C&D comfort handle too without much added cost, but marketing department dictates it was left out for a reason.

The watts on C3 models are not all the same. Some are 2000w, some are 1200w.

    • How do you know so much about vacuums?
Do you repair them work are you a vac salesman or are they just a hobby?

      • I picked up their flyer in store, which compares every model. But I did speak to a number of Miele reps in store in quite a lot of detail before making a purchasing decision.

IMO, if you got the 20% off Ebay deal at TGG for the Cat and Dog with the bonus multipack bags (16 bonus bags and 8 filters) for $423 + cashback, it was a much better deal. That Turbohead attachment alone costs more than the difference, and you get 16 extra bags which should last you years.

  • Hrmm… would you be thinking of a potential 7.5% off?
    Bigw 7.5% off via groupon.
    Pick up tgg gift cards.
I think the come in a few denominations

  • @lostn

    Spot on.

  • Damn! 10% off on eBay today!
Anyone knows how to claim the differece?

  • I picked up this for $350 from TGG using eBay's 10% off coupon. not sure if a good deal, went by ozb instincts :-)
