Clearly contacts currently have 30% off sunglasses frames, lenses and coatings.

I just picked up some Ray-Ban Wayfarers with prescription lenses and UV coating for $149. With health fund rebate they were free :)
Polarised lenses are an extra ~$35.

Lots of styles and lens options! Not sure when the code expires.

  • Couldn't get that code to work for me, sadly. Their 25% off code worked though.

  • Any idea what OPSM's prices on prescription ray-bans are? Flybuys tells me they have 50% off, but their online store only has non-Rx sunglasses prices.

    • Don't know for ray-bans. I checked prescription Oakleys once at OPSM maybe a year ago - the sales assistant looked up the price and was like "$220 for the frames, plus $200…" and i was thinking 'that's not too bad' until she finished her sentence "…per lens" = $400 for the lenses + frames = $600 ouch! And i think they were coming from US, so probably worse now with exchange rate.

I was recently at my local optomoterist and was planning to cheap out by just getting my old (clear) lenses replaced as glass was getting a bit scratched (4yrs old) but keeping frames - instead of getting whole new set. My optotometrist suggested trying transition lens and mentioned there was a good deal on some fancy brand lens and coating which is meant to be really strong/long wearing. I dont' know full details, but he mentioned it's normally like $80 just for the coating, but full set with transition lens and coating was $180 (before rebate). Never had them before, but they are pretty good. Only problem is they don't work in cars.

    • got some for $300 polarised last month. These were on one of their sales.

Initially I bought a pair of Bolle's. Got them the day before heading overseas for a month. Could never get used to them due distortion from curved lenses, came back and they gave me the Raybans as a free replacement. It was over the month return date as well.

I guess they are more expensive but in this case worked out better off for me.

    • I looked at some yesterday, frames were around $180 and they wanted about $350 for both lenses. $265 after 50% discount.

  • I have Medibank Private and the strength is -5.0 so apparently not covered.

    • Yep. They used to be fine, then Medibank went all medieval on online glasses. My script is -4.5 so I'm out as well. Same for my daughter due to age restrictions. Enough to make me want to switch providers….

Bupa is out as well - they will only refund contacts.

      • Is the script strength issue related to Raybans specifically?

        • No. You can get the glasses, you just can't claim via insurance from Medibank private. You'll probably still find it cheaper than going to a normal store, but would be nice to be able to claim to save more….

  • long list of funds accepting this one

  • How does it work. Do I paid in full and claim this through insurance myself?

  • Hope this is still available come January 2016.

    • the code is still active. tried just now and still works.
