  • i think this is a dupe

    • got a link of the other one ?

      • It's not a dupe. It's a new version of a deal which ended. I also asked a mod and it's okay to be a stand-alone offer from the 75k deal.

        • Many differences between the new and old deal?

  • Man, dat spend…

    • It was $3k/3mth last year. But you know.. refundable flights. Or just take a ~1.65% hit and use a merchant gateway to pay yourself, then stick it in savings until you need to pay your CC off before you accrue interest.

    • $1,600 a month. Not hard to spend unless you're living at home with mum ;)

      • you can't pay rent with cc
you can't use that while overseas without fees
you can't book flights without cc fees
maybe you can pay AGL without fees, possibly
i cant spend 1600 with coles

what else do you spend your money on?

        • +3

Water, gas, electricity, phone, internet, insurance, rego, car service, food and entertainment

        • Childcare!

        • @MaccDogg's post reminded me of a good option, just put (some of) the $5k on your utilities accounts.

        • @Lukian:
Yeh you could get in credit on your accounts

        • @MaccDogg: and perfect timing for the rates about to hit in Feb. And with all the Christmas spending … should be ok. Is this the best card deal around now? Very tempted.

      • I don't live at home and I still couldn't hit this limit with normal spending. Rent is a direct debit and I barely spend $1,000.00 a month apart from that, let alone $1,600.00.

  • A condition that might apply to a few Ozbargainers…

Not available…where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the PREVIOUS 12 MONTHS. This offer applies only once per eligible customer.

    • I'm looking forward to claiming AGAIN after 12 months. Does this last line exclude me from the offer? Has anyone claimed successfully over 2 consecutive years?

      • Yea im confused about the "This offer applies only once per eligible customer." Can we claim AGAIN after 12 months or not

  • Could you buy something on this card through paypal (eg, an eBay purchase) and have it count toward the $5k?

    • Yes.

      • How about if I pay someone for a service via paypal? Specifically, I want to book a photographer for my wedding next year, if I paid him via paypal would that count?

        • If a purchase transaction is recorded on the credit card then yes it would. Not if it's a cash advance though.

        • @uder: So its more a question of how paypal works then. If I send money to his paypal account linked to his business email, does that show as a cash transfer or as a purchase..? (this is a little off topic but appreciate if anyone can answer nonetheless).
