  • I got to play with one last week it makes my cheerson cx20 feel like a toy by comparison.

  • +1

I'll better wait for Gopro Karma.

I have been waiting for a good deal like this. This is going to be my xmas present ;) still can't convince wife I'm buying it for our 2 year old son

  • I have never had a drone, everyone tells me to get a cheap one first, as I WILL crash, I had been thinking about going straight to this one ? Take the advice and come to grips with a cheaper one first ? or grab this one ?

    • +1

Get a cheap one like Syma X5C-1 and learn flying it first, because yes you WILL crash. It's better to crash a X5C-1 than an expensive Phantom.

bought this newer model X5SW for kid - better than X5C with FPV on app. Was only $89 on eBay shopping square, now $99. Don't forget to buy charger and spare batteries $25 posted.

Surely not comparing Apple to Apple.

        • The 5c seems to have better specs on the camera, only thing it doesn't have is the live mode.

        • @chachi: Don't worry about the cameras, they are all crap and very shaky. They are just there to give you a taste of what aerial videography looks like, quality is too crappy to show to anyone. Main reason is to learn flying with these Syma.

          @edfoo:

I ended up buying the Syma X5C-1 from Sydney, with 3 x 650mah batteries and a charger. Fingers crossed that the Syma is not fake. As for the camera, yeah that's just a minor bonus.

These are so simple to fly that anyone can fly it, it's easier then most of the cheap ones as it's got position hold. IMO, go for it.
I haven't seen a better deal on one of these to date.

    • +1

Grab both. $60 for a cheap one is peanuts compared to 1850.
When your done learning on the cheap one, strap it with fireworks light the fuse and fly fly fly!

      • I'd rather be over-prepared by learning to fly something harder to fly (the cheapie) than under-prepared. I'm buying a cheapie sub-$100 one to practice on.

    • As already said, these are so ridiculously easy to fly that I wouldn't even bother with a cheap one. Just obviously don't try zipping between trees on your first flight, start slow and build up your skills and confidence.

My dad at 67 is very cautious and has slowly learnt to fly it, while I found it is a bit like posting video games with a controller, controlling it feels very natural and easy.

  • Guys is it 4k worth it considering advanced is 2.7k? The saving you can buy another battery.

I m tossing up between professional and advanced.

    • Depends what you will use the video for i guess…

    • Make sure your computer is powerful enough to edit 4k video if you want to shoot in that mode.

    • 4k will take up a tonne of storage space and cpu power to edit it.

    • If you actually need the 4K for professional reasons definitely, otherwise I'd just get another battery.

  • I bought another deal last week, it comes with a backpack case instead of battery.

If only I had waited abit more and got the 10% on this, pretty cheap. They also got the extra battery and case listed as well

    • Hi Kei could you please let us know about if item is posted form melbourne and how is warranty issues dealt with

      • I don't think it posts from Melbourne. All the other info on the page (including the Postage tab) indicate it's shipped from overseas. Misleading item location.

        • ya i was not sure so i bought it from DCXpert, well i dont know how much they are Australian stock.

      • It is posted from melbourne using fastway couriers, as per item location. They have some listed to post from Hong Kong, so check the item location.

        • Pity they haven't set the item postage correctly in their listings.

They do the Phantom 3 Pro, extra battery and backpack for US$1,398 delivered. Using the 10% coupon, eBay's suggested AU price is A$1745.80

Hopefully there'll be a 20% promo for the new year.

      • I'm going to wait for another ebay sale and get the two batteries as well.

  • Kei did u buy from the above ebay seller? Was there item shipped locally?how about warranty issues and stuff?

    • It is shipped from melbourne as per item location. Warranty with seller is 14 days for any DOA or faulty on receiving from ebay seller. Other warranty issues after flight would be referred to DJI for support.

      • Edit: The seller offers one year warranty from purchase. Most likely any warranty or issues will go back to the seller.

  • Pulled the trigger when I read that christmas10 was extended. Damn you, OP. :-)
