Have you actually used this model before? The 18V Li-ION model?
The one that actually has decent power?

I have. I actually have one at home and still using it.
Battery life isn't great, but it never is with these high powered handhelds.
The suction is well above your cheap comparison.

        Seconded.

Older ones have 9.6V NiMH batteries.

There's no comparison with these newer ones.

I have one too. Compared to my Ultra One it is a bit of a toy but then again all those battery powered ones are - Dyson included. It is great for cleaning up hard floors and light stuff on carpets. It's convenient too, which is primarily why I bought it. I think it would do about 80sq.m. on a charge right now but mine is a couple of years old and gets used regularly.

        • We had one, the main issue was not the battery it was construction and also the suction. Pretty poor on both counts.

If you use it to spot clean to save time then OK but no way should this be used instead of a proper vacuum, even some of the time. It will not clean properly and will not last.

Just an owners opinion and I did not even buy it, it was well intentioned gift.

        • @SamR:
Yeah, I wouldn't have any battery powered portable thing as my only vac unless I lived in a smaller place which had hard floors throughout.

It's best to think of these things as powered brooms which hold the crud for easy disposal.

    • Mine works great. I would recommend it to family / friends / fellow ozbargainers.

I also have a Dyson handheld, which works even better. So, if you can afford to spend more, then go with the Dyson. Otherwise, this is a great little machine for the price.

      • Thanks you for chipping in, I might wait for a Dyson after reading your comment.

We are in the market for one right now..
