Wow that was quick, almost like you had it all pre written but weren't allowed to post it…

I did been up since this morning but couldn't post it :)

Sorry sarcasm and disdain directed at woolworths not you mate

        • +1

Lol yeah I know m8, should have finished reading you're comment lol :)

    • I can some what understand why Woolies doesn't want it posted early, people probably go in and start asking why the price isn't on special when it only starts on Wednesday.

  • If you earn $20 WD in one go, does it still mean it'll only take $10 off your next shop?

    • And then $10 off the shop after that? I'm not sure.

    • FAQ - How do I spend/redeem Woolworths Dollars?

Woolworths Dollars can only be redeemed in multiples of $10. For example, if your Woolworths Dollars balance is $20 and you spend $28, you'll get $20 off your shopping.

    • It says in terms buy the $30 woolies card and earn $20 off your next shop with woolworths card

      • thought ww gift card. but its ww prepaid mobile starter pack

    • You can use it all up, as long as multiple of $10. I used $30 once.

be carefully, if you have existing ww rewards dollars, you have to spend $100+your existing ww rewards dollars to be eligible for this offer which is a shit.

They do not treat the ww rewards dollars as a method of payment as coles flybuy dollars, instead, they treat it as a discount.

Say example, you have existing $10 ww reward dollars balance, then you have to spend $100+$10 = $110 to be eligible to this offer, as the check out machine will deduct the $10 first which brings the invoice value down to $100.

if you only spend $100, after dedcution of the $10 existing rewards dollars, invoice shows you only spend $90 - you are out for this offer.

so you need to check how much ww rewards dollars you have before shopping. You can not control each time whether you wish to use this rewards dollars or not , the machine will automatically deduct your existing balance once reached multiple of $10.

        • This is the way I thought things were going to work but I'm not too sure now. I'm going to test things out tomorrow with a different offer and report back. It's possible that the Woolworths dollars will show as a discount but the transaction total for earning the next lot of Woolworths dollars will be based on the total before the discount. I've heard a couple of reports of this but tomorrow will be the first time I've tried it. I'm willing to risk $10 just this once to figure things out.

        • @pointscrazy:

I had a targeted offer for $10 Woolworths dollars for spending $40. I had $10 Woolworths dollars already on my card. My grocery total came to just over $40 and I paid just over $30 and $10 of new Woolworths dollars has been added to my account. The Woolworhts dollars are being treated as a payment method not a discount. I have no idea if this will continue.

        • @pointscrazy:
It was confirmed by ww service center rewards dollars are treated as a discount not payment method.

The discount will be applied first before you pay.

        • @jjj123:

If it was considered a discount then the reward for the targeted offer wouldn't have been given as the targeted offer is only triggered after all discounts have been applied. Perhaps they are mixing up their terminology.

        • @pointscrazy:
          Yes you are totally right.
The targeted offer trigger value will work after the rewards dollars applied.

40% off skype? I thought skype was free lol

  • Skype credit to call to real phone numbers.
at 40% off the prices are getting competitive.
Note though that unlike most VoIP providers Skype usually charges a flag fall (connection fee).
    https://secure.skype.com/en/calling-rates

    • What's the competition?

      I think I pay $40/yr for a number ($80 / 2 because have a subscription)
$10/month for unlimited calls inc Australian landlines & mobiles.

Nearly always 40/50% off vouchers, so real cost is around $160 / 2 = $80/yr.
Not sure it gets much cheaper than that?

Seems to work well 95% of the time, would be good if something was nearly 100% though.

    • Well with Pennytel, for $5/month I get,
      1 x DID number
$5 worth of calls at very low rates.

  • What page is the $10 Woolworths Dollars shown on? I cant find it in the TAS catalogue.

    • Looks like Tas misses out on the barcode although you might be able to use the code to get the offer

      • Hmmm… I cant find the barcode in the VIC catalogue either. Where is it?

        • It's on the front page on bottom :)

        • @TRENT86: thanks. i feel like an idiot! lol

    • We can't use woolworths rewards at woolworths only the sub par frequent shopper club

      • +1

It does work online for discount codes that require Woolworths Rewards membership

        • It does? That's good to know

this has to be one of the lamest specials weeks for both woolies and coles. and woolworths dollars suck! i have earnt $1 since it started and the dollars are just a way of limiting the normal specials they used to have to only people with the card, and you dont get the discount until you earn the $10 (v just getting it off the price on the spot)

    • Happens every yr m8, it's them being smart, they know we will have to shop big anyway for xmas so they hold back on a lot of specials :)

      • +2

true ozbargainers would shop big elsewhere.

Woolworths Dollars … I'm assuming this is a fantasy currency that can only be spent at Woolworth's.

Like all fantasy currencies such as phone credit it's primary reason for existing is to distort the consumers sense of value in favour of the vendor through the unconscious and automatic effects known commonly as the anchoring effect and by simple "bamboozling": introducing more than 3 to 5 variables to keep track of which most consumers, that includes me and almost certainly you, cannot - therefore leaving us more "open" to having our sense of value massaged.

Some jurisdictions such as radical backwater New Zealand and most of the EU have outlawed the practice as it's considered to be manipulative.

    At a guess ;), maybe it's something awesome :D

    • Spot on!
You need to watch 'The Rational Consumer' clip here: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/thecheckout/clips/

    • I wish they'd at least not call them Dollars when they don't correspond to actual dollars in any meaningful way!

  • The fine print says the $100 you have to spend to get the $10 Rewards dollars doesn't include Opal

  • be carefully, if you have existing ww rewards dollars, you have to spend $100+your existing ww rewards dollars to be eligible for this offer which is a shit.

They do not treat the ww rewards dollars as a method of payment as coles flybuy dollars, instead, they treat it as a discount.

    • Won't be a problem for most as my guess they will spend well over $110 this week or next considering it's xmas shopping time but thanks for the info :)
