    • Because it's on their website

Good price. But Hitachi TV picture quality may not be the like of most of people. I guess these are the same cheap Chinese rebranded nobrand as their smaller siblings. Have a 39" and am very disappointed.

Mine one looks "Bright" all the time, make you felt like watching a torch.

      • Any way to turn down just the backlight?

This is often missing in cheaper TVs

        • No option to dim/off the backlight, always on the "Bright" side. lol.

        • @dlovep:Any hidden service menu to turn it down? Ie press source 2580 or menu 1147 or one of these

          electronicshelponline.blogspot.com.au/2013/06/how-to-enter-service-mode-to-jvc.html?m=1

        • @tunzafun001: Thanks mate, will give it a try after work.

        • @dlovep: Nope, cant get into Maintenance Mode, Tried a few steps and other things, there is no "Input" on my remote only have "Source" but tried all failed.

      • I hear the Hitachi's are SLOW turning on, SLOW changing channels, AV modes etc. Is this true with yours?

        • Turn on roughly 4 seconds, show up the Logo then back to channel, Menu is a bit lag. There is no option to change the backlight, always on it's fullest, tried every steps down on contrast, brightness, colour, still look like a bright black screen.

Channels depends on antenna, I figure out on some windy days, it' the most sluggish time to change channel, some time need to go back/fore to switch back to the one you want. End up for Chromecast and game consoles.

The acceptable thing are the price and size.

This would be Catch of the Day.

Obviously its no Sammy, but I think people would realise this by the price…. hopefully.

Hitachi in the topic gave it away for me.

  • This tv was cheaper yesterday on Bing Lee eBay

  • Why is the code ebay10 ?

  • -1

it is not a smart tv.

    • +4

yes but last thing I would worry about…

  • how does this compare to other brands like Sony and Panasonic?

    • You can't compare a cheap rebranded chinese TV to a high brand such as Sony, Panasonic, Samsung etc.

      • +2

true i better wait for a good deal on the good brands !!

      • Hitachi is a Japanese brand as well and produces good hardware just like others.

        • Except the panels in these aren't Japanese, Hitachi choose to rebrand itself selling low quality panels instead, these panels are equivilent of Hisense, Soniq and no name brand panels. Still the price difference reflects this and a 65" panel at $899 FHD is a good deal regardless.

        • @Haxxa: oh i see what you mean. good point.

I have a few Sonys, Samsung and 2x Hisense TVs at home. To be honest, the Hisense does a very good job. Sure, my 65" Samsung has heaps of 'smart features' like inbuilt web browser with a wireless remote control keyboard inbuilt, picture in picture, 3D and a few other features like that… I paid about $4000 for that TV and I have never used any of those features except 3D on three occasions.

        • @overshopper: I bought a new Panasonic tv a few weeks ago and am wondering how many of these new features I will actually use. TBH I would definitely use iview and Sbs which I currently use my bluray for, and there a couple of games and Skype that could be useful (although I can use Skype through kinect also and the games are for small children). Most of the features are fluff, they obviously put some effort in developing them but not in to how easy they are to use eg. Web browsers, which are notoriously crap on tvs

It does a have multiple usb ports which may be handy and a built in recorder, but these days I usually only watch the above 2 channels and they are both well served by their apps (although when the footy starts that may be a different story)

Some initial reviews from whirlpool for reference: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2473104

    • Thanks!
But not much to go buy on.

  • Why wouldn't you pay the extra for the 4K 65" Aldi tv's @ $1199? You'll at least get a 60 day money back guarantee if you aren't happy compared to this bastardise hitachi unit.

  • value for money, i bought 60 inch one last year, i am happy with the tv and no issue at all

  • Purchased this with $40 flat shipping to Brisbane.

  • Wish I had another room for the tv

  • Now I wouldn't compare it to a Sony or Panasonic, but what about comparing it to my 5 year old Soniq L42s10a 42" Full HD.

I know there is a massive size upgrade, but can I expect much difference as far as picture quality goes?

    • +1

To give a true answer to this question someone would have to see them side by side, or at least have seen them both in action. You would be the best judge of that if you can pop into a store potentially.

In general things are free thing better for low end TV's than what they were a few years ago, so I would guess yes, but if you were comparing to a 5 year old sony/pay etc then probably not

  • Hitachi used to make quality plasma panels, just a level below Pioneer and Fujitsu. All Made In Japan. Does anyone know if they release quality LCD tv or just rebranded stuff now?

    • +2

All Hitachi LED TV's sold at Australian retailers are re-banded Chinese made generic TV. The only thing Hitachi about it is the brand name placed on it.

  • would of been good if there was some clips or a mini review on youtube
