  • no deals on USA sims? :(

    • +1

Unfortunately not at the moment. Those things are very hard to get a hold of at the moment, short supply from within the USA. If we can lock in a good order soon, we will!

      • I am after a USA deal and I know your post itself doesn't have any mention of USA, but your Tags do "Travel  AT&T  Mobile Broadband  SIM Card  T-Mobile  USA  USA Prepaid SIM Card" You should probably consider changing that..

Hopefully you get some USA sim's in soon!

    • Been waiting for a deal on USA SIMs too!

Rep - I'm looking to get a few if you can swing a deal.

  • weird you are selling Thai sim cards still because you need to show your passport to have them activated now after the laws all changed (and are actually enforced)

how are you activating users sim cards without showing valid ID/passport?

    • +1

One Thai cards a preactivated and preloaded. So it's a insert sim, follow simple prompt and good to go! Admittedly, these are cards we got from a supplier some time ago.

      • SIMs will most likely be no good / deactivated since the end of July,

        http://tech.thaivisa.com/sim-card-registration-thailand-upda…

        • We have sold plenty since July (most of which have been taken to and used in Thailand) so they are good. The strong changes suggested in that article clearly haven't been enforced like implied?

        • @TravelSIMSDirect: they have been enforced. I've had a few AIS and 123 Sims deactivated

need to show ID in phone shop or 711

        • I used my Thai SIMs purchased from TravelSIMSdirect in July on my recent trip a couple of weeks ago. They worked no problem.

      • +1

Iv'e just had my Thai sim deactivated because I got it before sims were required to be registered , can you guarantee that if I purchase your sim , that the same wont happen .

        • +2

just buy one in the airport or any 7/11 mate, its cheaper

travel sim with unlimited data for 7 or 14 days is like 299 baht, make sure take your passport to have it registered

        • @Makoto:

          Thanks will do.

        • +1

          @frugalfred:
I just left Bangkok and I can recommend dtac 1.5 gigs for 80 baht and one gig free on a 100 baht top up.

  • +2

Thoroughly recommend TSD. Got the Docomo SIM for Japan and worked flawlessly when over there. Delivery was fast - only a couple of days.

    • Glad you had a good experience :)

    • Ditto. Great experience. Loaded it into the phone when we hit Kansai and away we went. Nav, translation, entertainment all sorted wherever we went.

  • Hi

what if i need 20days in Japan?

    which one to buy?

    • buy them at the airport from the vending machines

      http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2015/07/24/business/tech/z-…

The machine offers two types of prepaid SIM cards: One priced at ¥5,346 for 14 days and the other at ¥3,726 for seven days, both including sales tax.

      • That or you will have to get both the 14 day and 7 day if you want our cards (combining to 21 days together).

    • Or if you dont need that much data this is much better value..lasts for 30 days
Can be gotten at most airports
      http://www.so-net.ne.jp/prepaid/en/index.html

  • thanks OP. ordered.

    • Welcome!

      • forgot to ask, will it be deliver before 29/12? i chosen standard delivery to VIC (Metro).

        • Will be dispatched tomorrow so I'd say extremely likely even though it is the busy season for postage.

  • Hopefully there is 7 Day Unlimited Data Card in New Zealand, but no.

  • +1

Thai sim card looks good but can you confirm it will work on next February when we travel to thailand Phuket?

    • I'm also interested in getting some Thai SIMs and will be there at the end of Feb to early March. OP can you confirm that these SIMs will fine to use? ie. They won't be expired when we go to use them?

      • just buy one in the airport or any 7/11 mate, its cheaper

travel sim with unlimited data for 7 or 14 days is like 299 baht, make sure take your passport to have it registered

you cant register sims anymore without showing valid ID

        • +1

          299 baht is about $12.
THIS deal is cheaper and mine worked a couple of weeks ago.

        • +1

@Risto: Hi guys, as mentioned before has been working for everyone as per normal so it is safe to say it will work, if it doesn't though we have a full refund policy! :)

        • +1

@TravelSIMSDirect: I am another happy TSD customer. Bought one for my wife when she travels with the kid to Thailand. Installed the SIM before she gets there, preset date for first activation, so she can call home as soon as she arrives. No hassle to find 7/11.

        • Does the 7/11 shop over there at Phuket airport open for 24 hours?

        • @arctan: if the airport is open, shops that sell sims will be open

otherwise all other 7/11 and family mart 24 hrs anyway

  • I remember seeing a similar deal before I went to Queenstown this year and I ignored it thinking I could easily find somewhere to buy a Spark SIM - wasn't the case with none at the airport and the Spark store not open at convenient hours…. argh

Heading to Japan in Feb - how quickly can I get the SIM activated after landing? I'm assuming once I'm there I can just activate it on the spot?

    • +1

Yes all you have to insert the sim and follow a couple of prompts and bang you're done in like a minute of landing.

      • Ordered! Thanks

  • If i buy the japan 7 day sim card do I just pop in the ism card when I arrive japan or do I still have to fill out my hotel address etc to activate it?

    • Hi, just insert the sim where ever you are and it'll activate on the spot.

  • +2

Highly recommend TSD. Recently bought a sim card from them and had a problem due to their sim mix up… Email them and got the full refund straight away.

    Great service.

  • +1

bought one for my NZ trip in January.. :-)

  • Travelling March 2016. Can I use this offer for the next round of stock?

    • Not yet mate. We will be doing more sales so watch out or email us closer to your departure as a reminder!

  • Hmmm I'm leaving for Queenstown this Sunday. Any suggestions?

    • Express post order for the Spark NZ Card! :)

  • +1

Very impressed by service (both tsd and the sim itself) Bought Japan sim (came with different inserts etc) and it worked even in very remote areas!

  • Im flying to Japan on the 24th, what are changes if I buy tonight, to get this on the 23rd? Risky right?

edit: sorry would help if I told you where I am, Perth, WA, 6147.

    • vending machines in the airport mate just buy it there when you land, takes a minute or two

get it before your PASSMO or SUICA

    • With express postage your chances would be pretty damn good! Regular too risky.

  • Off the Bali in mid January for 10 days. Any Indonesian sims or recommendations to use there?

    Thanks :)

    • Sorry! Don't stock them and have very little knowledge on them. Have fun over there though.

    hi mate
I recently bought a Sony sound bar and paid by my ANZ debt care, and they ask me to provide the 6digits number, I even went to the ANZ branch, and they said they have no idea either..
SO do know how can I get the Bank Authorization id number?

    Cheers

    • I'm not sure? :(

      • I thought you got the same problem before , thats why I asked you.

  • Hi rep, I'm heading to Japan in mid Feb, just want to make sure that it will work when i activate a 14 day sim then?

    • Sure will! :)

  • +1

One more recommendation for TSD, I bought one 14 day and one 7 day sim for my 3 weeks in Japan, worked flawlessly and was super helpful having data all the time.

  • +1

just bought one for my jan trip to NZ. hope it can be delivered by Xmas to Sydney. Thanks OP!

  • Hi Rep (or anyone has experienced),

Just wondering what's 3G speed like in Japan (after the initial 4G), is it strong enough to load netflix/youtube or just enough for web browsing and navigation?

    Cheers,

    • From reports from other customers it is pretty good for browsing, even navigation but HD video streaming might be a bit of a stretch.

  • None for the UK?

    • We have a sim we recently introduced but no deal on it atm, have a look and see if it interests you. Might be about to sneak a 20% discount if it interests you!

      • can there be a 50% discount on this before the 1st of Jan (2016)?

        • Doubt it mate. If there will be any deal it won't be 50% off (it is a very low margin product at our current price already)

  • To answer questions about jap sim speed - currently posting from japan on my DoCoMo card from a previous deal.
Speeds are good, better than most hotel/hostel wifi's. Can stream hd YouTube spotify with no lag . Can even torrent quite quickly. Tbh, I didn't even notice if it changed between 4g/3g speeds.

Two problems tho - the internet would drop out abruptly on my note 4, and the only way to fix it would be to reset + adjust the sim card (might have something to do with the nano->micro adapter provided). Also happened to another iPhone 5, but not on a xiaomi.
We also couldn't tether to our mate (3 sims, 4 ppl travelling)

    • I had internet drop out at times on my s4, try switch flight mode on and off for a quicker fix than resetting, worked for me.

      • Ahh damn, should've thought of that. Flying out tmrw anyways

  • I've still got an AIS sim from a while ago, exp is 04/2016 - Is this the same date as what you have for sale now?

    • Yes it is!

  • are there any genuine 4g unlimited data sims for japan? Don't really like the sound of 3g after 200mb

    • None that we have come across yet.

  • Bought one on Saturday for my trip to japan (Christmas at Tokyo Disneyland) and it arrived on Tuesday :)
Sadly I may have jumped the gun if I had known of this upcoming special but then again it is the Christmas period and posties would be a bit busy, so it may have not arrived in time.

  • Are the Japan sim cards U-Mobile cards?
    http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/Japan

    • They are Docomos

  • I'm going to NZ in April - but these expire a month after you buy them - is that right?

    From spark website:
    https://www.spark.co.nz/shop/mobile/plansandpricing/

"The texts, minutes and data you get in our Value Packs expire one calendar month after you buy them."

    • +1

Its a 30 day card, in our case once the card is first used in NZ it will expire 30 days later.

  • Any sims for Turkey?

    • Not at the moment, sorry!

  • drat Japan sims need activation 1 day before I get there…

  • +1

I'm travelling to Thailand in March, can I buy a sim now and activate in March?

    • +1

      Sure can!

  • I bought a NZ sim card from TSD and can vouch that it worked right after I popped it into my phone this past September in NZ.

I'm travelling to Thailand for about 10 days and would like to know if I can top up the data over there after 7 days? Or will I need another sim? Found the answer to this and yes you can top it up.

  • Placed my order on 16 Dec and still haven't received (Status: Processing). Giving this the benefit of the doubt due to the time of year - has anyone received theirs yet or rep to confirm when the orders will be shipped?

    • Hi mate, should be dispatched. Might very well be because of the silly season and all the public holidays. What is your order number (or PM your full name) and I will chase it up though :)

      • Hi thanks for the followup. Order #3861

      • Any update? See my other comment for order number.

        • Hey mate, sorry about the delay in getting back to you! Have got word from the our Japan SIM guy that your order was slightly past the activation date restriction of 14th of February, so he has ordered you a new batch of SIMS (he expects to get these in this week) and will ship them out as soon as they are in! Sorry about that, have told him to keep anyone in the loop preactively if this happens again :)

        • @TravelSIMSDirect:

No worries - I also reached out via email.

          Thanks for the update :)

Just landed in Japan, so far no success with my domoco sim from TSD. It registers on to the network, good signal strength, but no data connection. I have the sim in my phone, have ensured data is turned on, and have tried all 3 APNs that automatically appeared in the list: mopera.net mpr2.bizho.net, bmobile.be.jp
I have also tried an alternate phone.

So much for "just pop it in and it works"

    {Posted from airport WiFi}

  • OK, after some very prompt assistance from TSD (thanks Chris), the missing APN info has been recovered and I am online!! Not sure if I didn't notice the instructions and threw them out, or if they weren't in the delivery, but either way they have quickly resolved my issue.

I needed to add a new apn along with user name and pwd.
