There can't be many people left without free access. Pretty much every student at a state school or uni gets up to 5 copies. That's enough for everyone in the family I'd have thought.

    • Not to mention alumni…

      • I'm a member of the LaTrobe Uni Alumni and I can't get access as we don't get an edu address

        • Just type in your old one….

    • Pretty much every student at a state school or uni gets

Many people still have kids at primary schools or kinders without edu email addresses…

      • You can ask for their user ID and then you know the email address.
edit: in QLD it is assigned at first enrolment in the state and then kept till they complete school.

        • You can ask for their user ID and then you know the email address.

          Who's user id ?

        • @jv:
          The kid's user id.

If your child is in prep or any other year level at a state school, go to the admin and ask for their user id (which in most cases is the start of their email before the "@") You can then go home and use that as a parent to log in under the agreement that the state education departments have to allow students of state schools free access to up to 5 licences to office 365.

        • @bigspike:

          The kid's user id.

          They don't have one…

Your primary schools in QLD must have a much bigger education budget…

        • @jv:
They do. They (you?) just don't know what it is yet. When they start school the edu department gives kids several identifiers, including a user id for when they start to use IT stuff. In the early grades some places use generic log ins for the younger classes so an aid or the teacher can just log on how ever many machines for an activity. As they get older they discover they have their own log in credentials and start to use them.

          @bigspike:

          education departments are state based…

my kids don't log into their network, the teacher uses the one logon for the whole class.

the admin can barely use email herself, if I ask her for the kids' logon ids, she'll probably have a nervous breakdown…

Anyway, the tax invoice is $83, so, after tax deduction, costs around $50. After cashback, only about $25 out of pocket…

        • @jv:

They'll have one and just not use it yet. You can normally find out what it is. What state are you in?

        • @bigspike:

          What state are you in?

          Victoria.

Aren't the keys emailed to the EDU address ?

        • @jv:
Hmm: seems the jury is still out for vic school kids whilst several unis are signed up. The following link would suggest it's coming soon.
          http://heanyparkps.vic.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/sites/72/20…

And edu users don't have a key. Haven't heard of anyone being booted after leaving yet either.

        • @bigspike:

And edu users don't have a key.

How do you activate the software then?

        • @jv:
You go through the portal with your edu email and it takes you straight to the download. Then after that, you never log in again.

  • I am already signed up with Microsoft 360 for almost double the price of this offer , Does anyone know how I get this offer without loosing my current account??

The product keys can be added to your existing subscription and will extend it for another 12 months.

Is there any expiration? I.e. if I buy 2 of those will it stack as 2 years of Office 365? Thanks

        • +1

Yes, that's right. You can stack these

Anyone here remember back in the good old days when this MS Office suite used to cost $500 for a single install license and cd …

    • +1

      I miss those days… :(

      MSDN & Technet days…

  • My office 365 subscription (for 1 user only) expires August 2016. Could/should I buy this to be activated next year August giving the price is quite attractive now?

    • you buy it and activate it now, and it adds a year to your expiry date…

      • thanks. As I am only on a single user subscription now…activating now will change my subscription to a 5 user immediately will it?

      • This is a different product though, jeeg has a 1 user "personal" subscription, this is a 5 user "home" subscription. I imagine you have to wait until the previous sub is up before you can activate it, so you wouldn't be eligible for the cashback.

        • +1

I imagine you have to wait until the previous sub is up before you can activate it.

I heard it converts/upgrades the current one… Worth googling or asking in Whirlpool though to confirm…

        • it will be GREAT if i can activate now…and it changes my current subscription to 5 user home….and then give me another 1 year subscription starting from Aug2016 to Aug2017…..or I am only dreaming…

        • Its meant to, but practice is a different matter, I tried to do as it says on the microsoft site, and after a week and about 18 different people at microsoft and a lot of frustration I gave up trying.

        • @jeeg:

I actually think it does extend your current subscription. I had a single user subscription set to expire in 2016. I bought this and added it to my account, I now have a 5 user subscription which is set to expire in 2017… Pretty good value!

  • Has anyone who purchased this received a key yet?

    • Just got it!

  • Nice deal, thanks OP. Up to 5 years of sub can be stacked, so might get a couple more of these - $58/year is a nice price!

  • Using this ebay store with the current 15% + cashback offer of 4% = $51.95 (95 - 15% ebay sale, -4% off original price, -$25 cashback)
