  • What kind of price did you have in mind, and what level of "finish" do you expect?

Commercial devices are expensive, starting at well over $100. Arduino or similar based DIY devices can probably be built for about $30, but there's no enclosure and it won't look pretty. An ESP8266 wifi board with a temperature/humidity sensor and some programming would also be pretty low cost.

You might be able to pick up an internet-connectable weather station at a reasonable price, which will give you a lot more than just the temperature. Similarly, there are a few cheap internet video cameras around that also measure temperature, but again that's more than you've asked for.

Google and eBay are your friends.

    • Thanks - Any recomendations for internet-connectable weather stations?

There are logging thermometers for about $20 so you can see a pretty graph of what the temperature was all day. But you won't have the real time remote access though. Is that any use? e.g. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/gib-Mini-USB-Temperature-Data-logā€¦

  • This USB thermometer is $8.30 and you can probably access the realtime data remotely via your computer?

The same one has this review on banggood:

I am amazed at this little device. It is so much more cost effective than some of the other devices I have been using for temperature monitoring. (One wire devices) I think this one might be slightly less accurate, but still within .4 degree accuracy for the price and purpose is fantastic. I was pleased to find python libraries and open sorce code supporting the device allowing me to use it on non-windows embedded boards such as a Beaglebone or Rasberry Pi to create a temp logger for our cooling systems.
