  • Personally not the best way to spend Qantas Points.

    • Yes, but for those who don't travel that much like myself, I had 100K pts sitting in my account for more than a year…why not redeeming the pts when the items are on sale? Anyway, I understand where you are coming from :)

  • Can you do part points part cash or only points?

    • Yes, you can

    • you can although I've noticed the part cash component can sometimes be more expensive then finding the item you want elsewhere…

  • Not sure how much of a bargain it is, the DC37 Origin, is $399 at a number of retailers now, was $339 the other day at Masters as part of eBay 20% off.

No idea about the other models/items.

    • seriously…….you can't compare cash with points

      • Yes you can. It's just like comparing currencies - you just need to know the "conversion"

        • I meant the price on redemption website is not comparable…

  • +1

That doesn't sound like the cheapest use of points for GCs.
    1500pts gets you a $10 Woolies GC.
That equates to 3750pts for a $25 Woolies GC, which is cheaper than what you've used.

And I think there's some other GC with an even better burn rate but I don't remember which one. David Jones eGift?

  • How about transfer the qantas points in "David Jones eGift Card"
    4040 points for $25
I have around 50,000 qantas points.
And I figured out that there will be a $70 difference paying via the the two methods.
I will go with the "David Jones eGift Card" option

    • Just found out that on entertainment book website david jones egift card are selling with 10% off discount.
      merry christmas to myself ;p

      • in that case why not go the myer $200 gift card for 34450 points which gives $20 bonus so makes it (34450/220)*25 = 3915 points per $25 (if $25 units is the currency comparisons).

However, maybe I misunderstood and the eGift cards can be loaded or something? I can get 10% as well but then you're not using your points are you?

Having said that…thanks for the deal…i've been looking to get a Dyson Fan …I thought it was a bit wanky etc but with a kid on the way and bit safer…and I have 100k points sitting there that I wont use for upgrades or flights (cos of taxes involved).

I might just pull the trigger.

        • since I do not have that many qantas point for a dc54 vacuum, I will have to pay the rest.
the entertainment book 10% off option is more ideal for me.

I am curious, how do you get 10% off myer gift card?

**just found out that David jones can only take 5 gift card in on transection.

        • @taiwan:

Ahh now I get what you mean :)

Form work I have some deal from a promo company that gives us 5% off or 7.5 on gift cards like myer DJs etc. I don't think its 10 sorry.
10 for eb games and jb hi fi I think,..

  • This is cheap, everywhere selling $129, Dyson accessory seldom on discount.

    Dyson Turbine Head (911566) 12760 $76.87
