  • Would be perfect if it had microSD card expansion!

    • better 4G band coverage would help also, e.g 700mhz for optus and Telstra …….

Have they announced android 6 for this phone so you can turn off some of the intrusive apps ?

  • Very cheap price, but wonder if it will be polluted with a whole heap of unknown chinese apps.

Alternative to this, and with a Micro SD card slot and removable battery with fast charging is Redmi Note 2 ($200 AUD from eGlobal). Also runs the same Helio MTK chipset but obviously with no fingerprint scanner.

    • redmi note 2 doesnt have fast charging

      • Oops, yes you're right, MediaTek Helio doesn't seem to support quick charge, only Qualcomm does.

        • theres really good info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/general/xiaomi-…

where they test it with a whole bunch of power adaptors and have it measured, seems the phone can only take a maximum of 1.4 amps

I have a redmi note 2 and they are fantastic phones

        • @Makoto: also the redmi note 3 is about to be released with a metal body design and a fingerprint scanner

        • @cruiserdog9: what are you talking about? the note 3 has been around for a month or two

it has no removal battery and no SD card

    • the manufacturers get money from the bloat ware ….. the people whose 3rd part apps they load pay them …. allows them to sell a cheaper phone ….. that is why the bloatware is so hard to remove ….. if it was easy to removed they wouldn't get paid by the bloatware publishers.

      • +1

My Xiaomi came with bloatware and so did my Lenovo phone I bought years ago, I don't think Xiaomi and Lenovo are in cahoots with malware makers.

Methinks the reseller of the phones themselves are preloading the malware for an additional profit.

  • check delivery woes ….

  • +1

I'm so skeptical of this website. I purchased a pair of headphones from them and still am unsure as to whether or not they shipped the item. The account status shows "shipped" but I received no confirmation and the tracking number does not work.

    Be wary.

    • jd.com is the same as eBay, how can you 'be wary' ?

you get an email from JD.com itself saying it's been shipped and you have to confirm delivery is received otherwise similar to how eBay works you are protected against not receiving the product.

Singapore Post is notorious for having no tracking updates or much, if you login to JD and hit track it will say delivered to shipping partner / whatever.

from there you might not ever see it update again until you have it and that can take anything upto 2 months depending on the shipping

have a look at fasttech delivery times (google it) same using Singapore Post, people often report not getting stuff for upto 3 months or so.

If you're talking about the xiamoi headphones from last deal for 13 or 14 bucks, mine is shipped and says taken to shipping carrier but theres nothing after that. Hong Kong has been backed up for a week or two apparently with the huge influx of crap

      • Ahh so that's how JD works. It's good to know that now and that does put me at ease.

For the record the only e-mails I have received from JD are the confirmation e-mail for the order. No shipping notification was ever sent. I'll give it a few more weeks before deciding what course of action to take, but my experience so far has not exactly left a positive impact.

        • it's pretty bad mate,

          "2) Order Fulfillment Period

Average processing time is 2 -15 working days;"

Supersaver (under 2kg) 20-30 days Tracking

You will be able to check the status of your order under My Account > My Orders.

  • LeTV 1s or Oppo R7 ?

I think like most chinese phones, if you get this you will not get proper coverage on the phone networks in australia for 4G:
    https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/bX9Qt7/letv-le-…

Better off to spend the extra and get something like an Galaxy S5 when a deal comes up on here… Harvey Norman had them yesterday for just over 300 bucks.. Once you applied the 25 online discount & the 50 dollar discount through AMEX…

    • +3

Galaxy S5 is still around $150 extra with less ram. For that extra $150 I could buy another new phone with the same specs 6 month later. For person like me who spend 99% of my time in Melbourne CBD, that is a great choice.

      • And it comes with touchwiz, so it will need to be flashed off for CM

      • -2

the S5 has been out for 2-1/2 years and the chinese still haven't caught up with the band coverage ….. and they probably won't in 6 months. Apple, Samsung, etc build for a global market so have better band coverage ….. these chinese phones are for the chinese domestic market ………. don't expect them to come out with as broad a band support as samsung or apple.
And samsung even announced they will be releasing Android 6 for the S5 …. not sure if you will get that with this phone ……

So yes, for $150 you could buy another phone in 6 months with poor 4G coverage and android 5 not android 6.

If you are in the melbourne CBD ….. get a phone with 700mhz if on telstra or optus, rocks indoors.

        • +4

they are only missing band 28. so some area Telstra 4G wont work, who cares

android 6 roms are coming, in testing now

and if you're so worried about indoor coverage, you should know 4G doesnt do voice only data. if you're indoors you should be on WiFi.

not that it matters anyway, because HSDPA is fast enough for what you're trying to do on the internet anyway.

        • -5

if you are in an area where 700mhz isn't available …. you use 1800 on telstra and optus which even the cheapest 4G phones support …..but it's not as good indoors as the 700 mhz.

.Telstra paid $1.3 billion, Optus paid $630 million for the 700 mhm spectrum for good reasons.

As you get to the country …… optus don't do 4G on 1800mhz (3G) only telstra does 4G in regional areas on 1800mhz.

So having a phone with broad frequency coverage not only gives you benefits in the city, but also regional areas.

And it seems to be more and more about data and speed as dat plans get cheaper …… all the phones will do a voice call, it's data speed and ability to penetrate walls that sets them apart.

32GB cheaper as I posted here:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227651

  • ooo, i will be wary of ordering. I placed an order with them just only recently for the nubia z9 mini. Haven't heard anything, went in to my orders to check to day and it's been changed to the max version.
Then i realised in that none of the receipts they had send me made any mention of the specs. They can essential get away with whatever they want to send u….
Cheap, but the woes is not worth it man.

    • when you buy from JD (the equivalent of eBay of China) it takes a snapshot of your order page, so they CANT change it

My Account > My Order >

and JD.com cover you same as eBay buyer protection anyway

you can buy from JD itself or you can buy from millions of sellers on there and take a risk

      • -1

they did change it. That order is on their server, they can do whatever they want later and Ebay doesn't have jurisdiction because there is no item description on the receipt we have.
I ordered a mini. It became a max.
The error is still there, if u navigate to JD collections, for the nubia z9 mini, if u add it, it will show up as mini. When u pay up, it becomes a max. I think they ran out of stock for the mini, so they just changed accepted orders to max.
Most other stores will send u a receipt with a description of the item, but not them. Why?

          Dear xxx xxx ,

Thank you for shopping with us!

We are pleased to confirm your order has been received by our system. The next step is to complete your payment within 72 hours.

Your order reference number is: .You can go to My Account to check the status of your order.

as I told you, they take a SNAPSHOT of the item description at the exact time you purchase it.

no point downvoting me because you can't figure out JD.com, I said it's the SAME as eBay. It has multiple sellers, if you buy from JD itself they will handle everything, if from someone else then that person handles things but JD still has the same god damn snapshot of your initial order and description of the item

  • Only 16GB memory and no microSD slot makes it very limited for a most people.
