    Only 700W?

    • If you don't have carpets, plenty. With carpets, you need a turbo-brush anyway.

      • A vacuum cleaner that's not effective for carpets? That's disappointing :(

        • +1

No vacuum cleaner is effective on carpets without a turbo-brush.

        • @liquid metal: I have heard good thing about the turbo brush. Is Miele the only brand that makes them? I don't think Dyson has anything similar right?

        • @edfoo:

The majority of vendors offer turbo-brushes. I heard good things about the Miele turbo-brush, too.

        • @liquid metal: The Miele turbo brush is crazy, we've got the C3 with it and it obliterates everything on the carpet

Be aware that the EU has introduced new laws to make more power efficient vacuum cleaners. Hence why most vacuums have released new versions (i.e. henry). Not saying this is the case, but they may have put in a smaller motor to meet those obligations.

      • Yeah, it's very confusing. That yellow one on Miele website says 2000W but this red one only has 700W.

        • 2000W of electricity consumption. I got the red one, label on it says "input nom. 1700W, max. 2000W"
Maybe 700W is about suction power?

    • Most likely air watts - power out 700, power in - 1700 - is relatively good
      - Miele vacuums are efficient and quiet - mostly air noise, hardly any motor noise

      • Fully agree. In the lowest power setting I could vacuum in the night and you wouldn't hear it in the room a few metres away. It's really that quiet.

  • +2

700w and made in China… Pass

    • +3

Lol. Good luck avoiding electronic items that are made in China. Avoiding iPhones also?

      • +4

Only in Miele (and a few other brands), people tends to choose German made than Chinese made, so solpiry's decision is very reasonable in this case.

      • +2

Remember when made in Japan was referred to as Jap crap? I don't either because I wasn't born yet

  • +4

Picked one up. It's 2000 watts. Not sure what the 700 watts is or where it comes from. Great vacuum.

    • +1

      Any pic to confirm?

      • +2
        • +2

Yes, just picked up one too and confirm 2000W label on the box.

    • I picked up one its good vacuum, i tried it does all the work i need. happy with the product.

  • still mix reviews, should i buy it or not, and compare to miele s6 last deal is it better than last deal.

  • Is it a bagged or bagless vacuum ? And is it a quiet one ?

    • +1

I don't think miele sell bagless. This is bagged

I don't have this model so i can't answer the other question.

    • +1

Definitely bagged. But the bags last rather long. They have special ones with some fibres in it so the dust spreads evenly around the bag. It lasts much longer than a traditional bag. Additionally, bagged vacuums are much more quieter than bagless.

However, I don't know if this one is as quiet as mine. I have a S5211.

      • Oh I see thanks for the info guys !! I might grab one too

  • How many watts is the turbo brush?

    • Don't know what you mean? The Miele turbo brush isn't electric. It works with the suction. If you clean it regularly it's pretty much impossible to break it.

      • Is it on sale at Harvey Norman too?

        • Don't know. Probably better to look for it online.

      • I'm furious because our painter broke ours a few years back. Despite having his own industrial shop-vac we bought especially for the workshop, he was lazy and used our Miele vacuum without persmission. Clogged up the head and the motor while sucking up plaster and plaster dust on a humid day so it all solidified and caked itself in, then he cracked the turbo-head brush when he was shoving a screwdriver into it trying to remove pieces of gravel. Brand new $650+ vacuum cleaner too. Just the head alone sells for $139 at HN. Not sure if the cheaper third-party ones are any good as replacements. Make sure you keep nice things away from handy-men.

        • Did you deduct $650 from his bill? :P

  • if i buy the c2, will the turbo brush head be compatible?

    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/miele-turbo-brush-tool-attachm…

    • Yes. I will consider buying it later on.
HN also sold me a box of the HyClean dustbag for $13 (RRP $27.90).

      • That was one of the things that I specifically checked - all their parts are transferable between models and so you can fit a turbo-brush on this machine.

Thanks for notifying me about this deal - I bought mine today. I am super impressed with the strong suction that beat all other models. I think that the one advantage of a Miele over other brands is that Miele's quality is far superior e.g. the pipes and connections are sturdy and strong. Dyson to me seemed potentially fragile. Other vacuums may have the advantage of being bagless but they're easily available so not an issue for me.

    • I've seen plenty of broken Dyson vacuums trown away in coucil cleanups, but never any Miele. If you treat Miele well they last for years. My family have two twenty+ year old Miele vacuums, but some friends who bought new Dysons five or six years ago are already having issues with them.

      • Can confirm. I've seen plenty of very old Miele (10 to 20 years old) in the last few years. That is the main reason why I bought one 2 years ago.

      • +1

20 years ago the Miele vacuums were probably still made in Germany, as is my dishwasher. Moving manufacturing to China is not a bad thing in itself, but it clearly shows that a manufacturer is cutting costs. How likely is it that they only cut wage costs and not also cut down on the cost of materials?

        • +1

The C3 range is still made in Germany.

    • My Miele broke. Replaced it with an Electrolux.

      • +1

My Miele broke a few years ago and I replaced it with another Miele.

    • +2

Wouldn't call bagless an advantage. They are much louder due to that. Bags aren't expensive either and they last quite a while. An average household probably needs 4 bags a year. I reckon that's a negligible cost.

    Dyson is the best

  • +1

just bought this one online, will pick up in store later

i recently dought a dyson v6 animal, but it gets full kinda quick. i will keep the dyson for small odd jobs and the car, as its small and portable, and the miele for bigger jobs :)

    great post, thanks OP

    • You'll find a barrel dyson fills up very quickly too.. just bad design. The dust can has the cyclone motor inside it, so already much of the volume is taken up. Then the MAX line is so low on the bowl that you wouldn't be able to fill it with much even if there was no motor there. That was why I got rid of both my dysons. I like not emptying it every time I vacuum.

  • Had 2 Dyson and they both broke, one after 4 years the other 2 years and a bit…Hopefully the Miele is 1/2 as good as their washing machine. Went for the S5212 it's on clearance at $277.

    Edit: Make it 3 actually.

Interested in S5212 and C2 Celebration despite they are manufactured in China. However lack of reviews makes me hesitate. I tested s5212 in store and found it was much noisier than C3 series. Also S5212 does not come with turbo head. Can any existing users of these 2 models kindly provide your reviews here? Cheers.

    • Made in china doesn't mean it sucks. Just means it's more affordable for you.

It's how Apple, Samsung, and most tech companies do things, and if those are good enough for you, so should this.

C3 is a more expensive range, so your C2 is not going to be comparable in practicality things like noise levels or included attachments. You are paying less after all. But it will still do its basic job, which is suck up dust.

  • I had s5211. I would say the c2 is equivalent. Roughly same power but quiter. Works with the turbo head but you must buy seperately.

    • Is this the Turbo head you are talking about http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Miele-Turbo-Brush-Tool-Attach…

      • +1

Yes. It's noisier with that head on though, and it will tangle easily. Make sure you only suck up fine dust with it. If you see cotton strings, remove the head, and suck it in through the tube before putting it back on.

        • Thanks, I might pick one up with the additional 15% off.

        • +1

@unity1: Make sure you spend $150.

        • @lostn: Yes, I have a few other little things I need too. Coupon won't work anyway if order is below $150.

      • Yep that's the head I have. Works really well

  • Woohooo bought one

    Good price

    Only 3 left

    • The are 4 stores in my local area showing stock. Obviously there are more than 3 remaining.
