        oops mb

  • Can't seem to find any reviews for these. Anyone got any opinions on whether these are any good? I'm looking in the sub-$500 price range for some speakers so this seems like a pretty good deal.

    • had same issue maybe there from the 1980s lol, other options under $500 at Harvey Norman & JB HI-FI may be able to find reviews on those

Satellite speakers will be mediocre but the tower speakers will be well above average in the budget price range. I've heard a demonstration of the tower speakers and best part is the proprietary tweeter array giving very extended treble, bass is adequate for music in my tastes but most probably want to pair with the sub for some doof doof. Certainly a budget speaker I'd look at if I was into this price category.

      • Anyone able to recommend some good satellites (up to $200 per pair)? I'm looking at our small lounge room and thinking that floor standing speakers aren't going to fit comfortably.

May be you should get a soundbar.

Do you need something to drive these, e.g. a receiver of some sort?

    • Good point. Appears so. This is just a speaker kit.

    • Certainly would, all these sorts of subwoofers are active (amplified already), so don't let that confuse you, you'd need a receiver/amp too.

  • 5.1 Receivers start at $349 (100w/ch) - although the Harman Kardon for $358 (75w/ch) has 3D/4K passthrough and extra HDMI input.

Ordered! Thanks RogueWolf, was like looking for a set just like this!

  • Purchased this speaker system instore yesterday and am very happy with its performance. As per plmko's comments above the satellites are the weak link but the sub and towers are punchy enough to justify a visit by noise control next party :)
