What benefits does the remote has that the controller can't do ?
The benefit is that it's an actualy blu-ray remote control as well as a TV remote control. Can't act as a TV remote control on the PS3 controller.
Uses AA batts, and can last for months.
Also much easier to control when watching movies/streaming etc
Just a note. These remotes are great on a pc or htpc connected to projector. I have set mine up with plex and it works great. 5 bucks is a bargain.
It feels and controls like a TV remote. I prefer it to the ps3 controller, easier on the hand. Sorry, no ps3 controller on sale.

What's the model number of these remotes? I remember there were two that came out so want to know if this is the newer one or older one.
Looking at the feature list it would be the later (better) one (CECH-ZRC1E) - it has a 3D button and bluetooth to control the PS3 as well as IR to control the amp and TV. The old one (CECH-ZR1A) was bluetooth only and really only controlled the bluray functions with some elementary navigation features.
