Great little camera. Produced great photos with it's 1" sensor and fast Zeiss lens. I had one for 3 months till I dropped it on it's lens while it was extended and now doesn't focus correctly, and it will cost too much to fix.

Did some research and decided to get another one of these over other high-end compacts for various reasons but especially because it's more pocketable and I couldn't justify the upgrade to the mark IV as I don't think I needed the extra features and therefore couldn't justify the additional cost.

It wasn't mentioned in this post so I thought I'd highlight it as a specific deal.

I asked HN to price match, then use the Amex deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/226889) to get it for another $50 off (or $100 if you've two Amex).

    • Nice! I'd normally be ropeable but had already used the Amex deal to get the Samsung Galaxy S5.

      • Time to apply for another Amex?

        • Yeah could be, seeing what you did there!

    • Are you saying you did that or you would? And does the Amex $50 off deal work in store as well or it's just online?

      • That's what I did on Boxing Day… According to the T&C, should be both in-store and online…

HN actually called Digidirect to see if the local store has stock or not…

    • Is it possible for you to put up a scan of the receipt from HN please? Ta

  • Tossing up between the MK II/III or a Canon G7X, kinda leaning towards the canon for the touch to focus feature which is really handy at times but I'd need to grab a spare battery :/

    • Borrowed a G7x previously and it was okay too. Wanted a viewfinder though, as small as the pop up one is on the mk iii, I find it very useful in bright sunlight when the screen is hard to see. Also like framing some shots with the camera up to my eye.

  • why does this cost as much as an A6000 ?

    • Actually this model was $200 more than the a6000 (body only) when it was released. You are mainly paying more for pocketability. If you don't need the smaller size the a6000 is good also (with decent lens), and a bargain with current cashback offer.
