  • great price for some shelves.

Can anyone tell me why a search for "BLANKHULT" on the ikea website yields no results?

    • I have no idea, but I did exactly the same thing. Maybe they've already removed it from their catalogue because it's clearance/old stock?

They look a lot like the Kallax. So maybe BLANKHULT is the poor man's version of their usual Kallax range?

    • It is on the main page of website (http://www.ikea.com/au/en/)

    • And nothing showing on 'main page' links (even several clicks deep) on Vic stores.

    • Discontinued lines get deleted from the website (when the sale date range ends), whether there is still stock left or not.
      BLANKHULT is one of these.

    • To answer my own question (belatedly), I called and apparently their website is not live updated from their inventory system. I believe this line is brand new, and hence isn't yet on the website.

I bought 5 from the Richmond store (3 for me, 2 for a friend). :D

I was about to go out and get them, but could find nothing on the two VIC stores pages. I visited the Canberra IKEA's page to check and they had them on their Latest Offers (Sales) page.

So not actually available in VIC?

Also the Canberra store said on sale Jan 02 - Jan 17.

All stores, except two VIC stores have them on their LATEST OFFERS page :(

Sorry that you couldn't find them in VIC store page.
Maybe give them a call to be sure.
The PDF does say that they are available in VIC Jan 01 to Jan 17.

      • Oh. I didn't see the PDF before commenting, sorry. It does say VIC. Hmm.

I might head out anyway and see if I can see them there (Richmond). Being almost 3:30pm though, they were probably snapped up first thing this morning. I'll give it a go though.

      • I went to IKEA Richmond and ended up getting two of the four square shelves in black (couldn't see brown). Just realised that is the "colour" black-brown not Black or Brown. LOL!

They had plenty of stock. The sign said it was $9.99, but it also said starting Jan 2nd. The staff were unloading the boxes onto the display (near the exit/cash registers), but was probably a slow process. The little ones each weigh 19KG!! :O

Anyway I went through the cash registers and they scanned at $9.99. They didn't say anything about it being Jan 1st or anything. They also had the eight square for $19.99.

        • Can you tell us the depth of the shelves please? It doesn't say on the web page.

          @alvian: 39cm

        • @sagitox: can you advise the width and height of the cube internal dimensions too? I'm trying to find out if they're essentially compatible with Kallax/Expedit cubes.

        • +1

          @quop: Each cube's internal dimensions are: H = 33.5cm W = 33.5cm D = 39cm

        • @sagitox: fantastic, same size :)

        • They are compatible with Kallax cubes. Not sure about Expedit.

Also, Bunnings have cubes that fit, $5 each.

  • Looking at the pictures, these BLANKHULT don't look as sturdy as the KALLAX system. Still cheap though.

    • Where did you find the pictures?

    • We checked them out on Sunday and gave them a miss because we weren't confident about their strength and stability. Instead, we'll save up for Kallax. Both are supposed to be fixed to a wall for support.
Blankhult would probably be fine for a house without a climbing toddler though.

  • Shows on front page http://www.ikea.com/au/en/

There are very many units at Richmond, but not in their usual aisle locations, staff moved them all closer to checkout.

  • I just bought them at IKEA Springvale today - not on website, but are instore and on sale from today til 8th Jan

    • I went to IKEA Richmond today. The sign there said Starting Jan 2nd. I still picked up two of the four squares. :D

  • 19kg, that's heavy. For those that have bought them, do they feel sturdy?

    • I thought it was, but then thought it must be pretty good quality, especially for $10 each (four square). I haven't put one together just yet, I just got home, but the pieces look thick and strong.

  • Did Springvale have any of the rugs?

This is a good deal. Bought the larger one for $39 a month or two ago.

OZB tip: Remember to swipe your Ikea family card when making purchases. This gives you a price guarantee for 3 months (90 days). So I could have received a refund for the difference if only I had swiped the card. Alas I didn't.

    • My parents have an Ikea Family Card. I don't. Couldn't be bothered getting my own one. Maybe next time.

      • +1

Use Stocard app and scan the card. I do it this way, so no need to carry the card.

  • The $19 ones are sold out at Springvale. Richmond hasa few (maybe 15) left but they are running out fast.

There are heaps of the $9 ones at Springvale maybe about 50.

  • There are lots left at Logan.

    • None left when I checked this afternoon - no stock of larger units, supposedly 6 left of the smaller ones according to their system but nothing physically found.

  • very cheap

  • i went to Richmond and they had plenty
