30% off Wine in Any 6 E.g. 2008 Penfolds Shiraz RWT $168.00 & Many More (Free C&C) @Woolworths

340

As noted by tightarse in the Woolworths 30/12 specials post, Woolworths is currently offering 30% off all wine in any 6.
I thought it would be useful to list the best bargains available compared to the equivalent purchase price at Dan Murphy's.
Please take the table below with a grain of salt - unfortunately the information in the Woolworths online catalogue is very sparse, so a certain amount of guesswork is involved. Also, it seems impossible to link directly to the catalogue items so please copy and paste the description into the search box!
Corrections welcome. If the vintage of the Penfolds Grange is known to anyone, please speak up (the savings on that one seem too good to be true).

Moet for $32.90?, no way, maybe the 375?

    • +1

thats what the link is for

I'm amazed at anyone who buys the 375/200. Not a lot more will buy you the full size

    • Updated, thanks!

  • Can't find the Grange?

Still seeing this Showing Results for "Penfolds Shiraz Grange 1.5l"

        No products found

Sorry, no search results were found containing "Penfolds Shiraz Grange 1.5l".

Please try fewer words or partial words (eg type spag instead of spaghetti). Avoid using numbers in your search.

        • It works in Chrome on Windows and on Android as well from Victoria… Tested in incognito mode as well.

        • Yeah, I'm getting the same and when searching just "Grange" in the search box gets no results. Maybe it's state based and OP is in a different state?

These specials are available in-store too, in BWS :)

    +1 for effort.

Not amazing prices, but better than normal.

  • +1

Wow. I remember buying dozens of Six Foot Six Pinot Noir from Vinomofo for $90/case.

    • +1

'Fo prices are cheaper as long as you know what the deal is.

  • +1

Decent prices but nothing too special.

Penfolds are overpriced and you can get cheaper when on sale at Dans.

Other wines are on par with winery discounts. i.e. d'Arenberg is same if not cheaper direct from winery.

  • Cannot see any of them or search them up. QLD.

  • Also, you need to consider the Dan Murphy's price for 6 (it's usually cheaper per bottle at half dozen)

    • Actually I did use the "in any 6" price — is one of them wrong?

      • +1

all I looked at was the Dom :P and it wasn't correct - not sure about any others

edit: oh I see what's going on now - the DM site is strange - some listings has the per 6 price as the BIG tag, and others have it as the smaller one - how odd.

        • Fixed thanks!

Bought 6 bottles of the Bannockburn Chardonnay last time and the 2010 is drinking very nicely. Certainly worth the price.

    • Very mixed opinions of Bannockburn wines. Not cheap, either.

      • True, but at that price point it is worth it in my opinion. The 2010 seems to be the pick of the vintages, if you can get it.

2010: November 2012 James Halliday (James Halliday Top 100 Wines 2012)
"Whole bunch pressed direct to a mix of French barriques, puncheons and stainless steel, wild yeast fermented and left on lees for two years. A wonderfully textured wine, powerful and rich but so seamless there is no semblance of weight; stone fruit, oak and acidity perfectly balanced. Drink by 2025. 97 pts."

The 2012 Chardonnay gets a 96 rating in the 2016 Halliday wine book. Definitely sounds like a good drop.

          Geelong Chardonnay 2012

Whole bunch-pressed, transferred without settling to barriques, puncheons and tank for wild yeast fermentation and 2 years' maturation on lees. Deep, but bright, yellow; a very complex wine that coasted through its long time in barrel; white peach, fig and pink grapefruit do the talking, not the oak, as one might expect; despite its complexity, has an exciting fresh finish. 1000 dozen made. Screcap. 12.5% alc. Rating 96. Cellar to 2025.

Not sure on its availability and whatnot at Woolworths, though!

        • @brezzo: When I bought my 6 I got 2 of the 2010 and 4 of the 2012. Thanks - Nice to know the 2012 looks good as well.

        • @try2bhelpful:

Asparagus soup. Halliday is on his own here. Many wine aficionados can't even stomach even one glass. Try before you buy!

        • @tightwad: So we agree to differ on this one then.

        • @try2bhelpful:

          "Try before you buy."

        • @tightwad: As indicated earlier I have tried it. I cracked open one of the 2010s the other day and it was terrific. How many of them have you drunk lately?

        • @try2bhelpful:
          And the 2012?

I've tried them dozens of times.

Have you read Jeremy Oliver's article? Any idea why Michael Glover quit?

        • @tightwad: So you have tried a wine you don't like about a dozen times - can you please tell me what you job might be?

        • @try2bhelpful:

          Different vintages!

        • Don't have an eyephone. Scores mean nothing.

        • @tightwad:
          …..without the corresponding text.

  • I'm interested in Ata Rangi. But how can I know the vintage year of it?

    • +1

According to brezzo's comment these are available in-store at BWS too. So go there and check it out!

  • Wanted to try Pikes and added a few from the list, cant be half bad. Thanks.
