  • Bugger, I need 55 ball point pens.

    • looks like you'll have to crowdsource

    • +1

      Steal the other 5.

Or go to NAB. They've got free pens.

      • They come with a free chain too!

        • +1

Nah… The NAB pens here don't come with any chains! They're kept in a box at each teller and beside the withdrawal slips. Go for it!

    • That's funny - I only need 45. I think we can come to an arrangement.

50 Ballpoint Pens … how many actually work?

  • Restaurant is Best Restaurants, or Good Food FC? I'm assuming it's Best Restaurants?

    • +1

      Apologies. It's Good Food.

      • +1

        Ah ok.
Good Food Gift Card (I made a typo - should be GC not FC).

    Classic Seinfeld:
Its fascinating. When you go into a stationery store that they’re manufacturing millions of pens; constantly we’re all buying them. I must have bought six thousand Bics in my life. I’ve used up maybe two of them. Where are the rest of them?

  • Thanks TA, going at my current rate of losing one pen a year, this should last me till after I can withdraw super (and upgrade to the 3 for $5 Bics).

20% off Optus Recharge is massive, imo. Deserves a post of its own. I'll stock up on recharges for the next year and save more than $100.

    • so, if i want to buy $30 Optus prepaid recharge voucher, I have to buy $2 SIM, right ?

      • if you want to get the discount, yes. But the recharges go up to $130 I think.

Worst set of gift cards on offer. 10% off these rubbish cards is even more rubbish. These are always 20 % off before ($10 off or $10 reward dollars for a $50 card). Whoever come up with this offer should look for a new job in the new year: A job in Dick Smith Joker Club will be a perfect fit.

  • Can Optus prepaid credit be used for Google Play?

    • Doesn't work on Woolworths, part of Optus, so I guess it won't work on Optus branded

    • No, the only prepaid card credit I know of that can be used for Google Play is Telstra.

The 50 ballpoint pens has already been going since this week: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228335

OP The title is wrong, it's supposed to be 6/1 not 6/2

  • Those revisions though. Haha.

  • I'm confused, am I buying multiple Optus sim's and having to activate each one then being able to apply my discounted recharge voucher?

    • SIM and recharge voucher must be in the same transaction but are otherwise unlinked.

  • Has anyone used a Village Gift card at Telstra Village checkout?

With the Village gift cards, when you redeem them online, does it debit off the balance or can you only use that gift card once like on Kogan?

    • +2

Debit off balance so you can use it over multiple visits.

  • Catalogue shows a $100 Kathmandu gift card - I'm wondering if this applies to $50 card also?

  • Sorry to ask and thanks for your help: I am interested in the 130 dollars for 22gb wireless broadband deal. What do I have to do? Buy a Sim for 2 bucks and in the same transaction 130 worth of recharge? Comes down to 2 plus 104? How long do I have to activate that bundle? Thanks guys!

    • I wanted to do the same thing so tried it out last night. I grabbed a $2 Broadband SIM and went to the self-service and scanned it. Then chose the Recharge off the self-service and found the $130 broadband credit voucher and added it. At this point it DID NOT discount at all. I asked the checkout attendant and they were unable to assist, so as it was quiet I went over to the shelf and grabbed a $2 Mobile SIM pack. Once I scanned this in as well it deducted the $26 off the recharge, making the total $108 (2 x $2 SIM packs and the $130 recharge discounted by $26). It appears that any recharge voucher will be discounted provided it is in the same transaction as a $2 Mobile Phone SIM pack (but not a $2 Mobile Broadband SIM).

  • Any sale on Steam gift card?

  • +3

hope there's no dse gift cards on sale :)

    • You can probably get a $100 one for $0 now.. which is only worth about $0 too!

  • Alright so Im on optus $30 prepaid monthly and I usually have it on AutoRecharge where it recharges my credit automatically.

So if I want to take advantage of this, I stop my autorecharge and just go into woolies and buy a $30 recharge voucher (using a 5% off woolies gc) and recharge my phone? Where does the extra "RevUp" 10% bonus credit apply to as I already get unlimited calls & txt, just extra internet data?

    Thanks in advance! :)

  • Hope they arent selling Dick Smith cards

Thanks TA, great post. I will buy a couple of Optus starter packs. I have my daughter on prepaid and she is a very light user, so I can just move her between Telstra and Optus now that Optus has a plan called my prepaid long expiry (20c calls and SMS 5c for internet) and lasts 186 days. She normally uses $10 on telstra simplicity each month so I'm hoping $30 on optus will last her 2 months.

  • I have the optus 6 month half price for the $60 plan, monthly. So can I use this to pay for that?

    • No idea sorry. You might want to ask Optus if you can add prepaid to postpaid account.

      • It's not Postpaid mate, it's prepaid! Sim only. Hmmm. Good idea, I'll ask, it maybe post paid but I always thought it was prepaid! Cheers Fozzie

  • Oh yeas, nothing beats being a NEW subscriber every month to six months. Latched on to the FIVER dollar optus sims and cherish the pool of $2 ones Vodafone pushed out last year to gain a 1FREE vouchers ($10) as well.

Was on the my Daily, stepped up to Daily+ during Christmas, so unlimited 15 sessions * ~33c ea .. legacy number as a backup to the main sim and online VoLte.

Trick I'll use is the $2 sims as converter of $10 packs into recharge vouchers (POPI) to stay on Freedom+/Daily+ for barely a day's downtime. Aptly handy.

    • For those of us new to SIM pooling, how are you using a pool of $2 sims?

    • Same as any $2 sim, pop it in phone send off details and i'm registered to Vodafone as first step straightforward. (picked up many these $2 VF's)
Confirmation SMS recd after few mins on successful transfer optus-> VF

Now optus' system needs overnight to record that change, so give this 24h between PO+ PI (Port Out) and (Port IN) registration from off-net vf
Then returning to optus I'll use their 67% (83%) discounted $30pack as if I am transferring from VF- where I make these changeovers.

Throw away activated used changeover sim.

Or as otherwise, taking up alternating offers, substitute $2 sim out for a good loaded starter pack e.g $30 freedomplus, switch back to the losing carrier after one month off-net.

  • Has anyone gone in to WW and got the 20% off a recharge with SIM purchase?

  • Can you use the $30 starter pack to recharge $1 / $2 daily prepaid plan? Maybe need to go Optus store to port the number?

    • Yes if you are porting it will ask you what plan you want, then you just pick your plan.
